Does he actually stand a chance against Hillary?

I don't have too much in common with him when it comes to policy, but i do think he's entertaining. I would also be lying if i said i wouldn't want to know what a Trump presidency would look like.

However, how on earth would he beat Hillary? The majority of the media is constantly grasping straws at him, and he's kind of right about the woman's card thing. There will be people all over the country voting for her just because of:

>First female president!

I don't see how he would have a majority of voters on his side in the end against Hillary. There isn't much he could really do to grab voters from the other side. He could tone down and become more 'presidential', that could bring a small amount of undecided voters to his side, but at the same time, he loses his anti-establishment appeal for the most part.

To be honest, i think his best chance would be pandering to Bernie supporters. Though that would be difficult considering how a lot of them are New Deal democrats or Independents. Trump has already isolated himself quite a bit from his own party, perhaps if trump takes some of the more controversial ideas from the libertarian left and applies it to his own policy he could bring In Sanders' supporters. Maybe if he reinstated his own previous positions on legalizing drugs, I'm not sure of what else he could do though.

So, what are Trumps chances of beating someone like Hillary? Be honest with me, how feasible is it?

Trump is painted as the evil man, if he can just make Hillary look more evil there is a chance. Otherwise Hillary will be winning if Trump cant pull anything spectacular.

>>
>>72919246
The point is that there is really nothing else "shocking" to say about Trump that hasn't already been said, if there was some bombshell that would destroy him in the general, it would've been dug up already by his own party and used against him 6 months ago. Hilary, however, is enjoying protection from the media, a protection that isn't going to help her when Trump finally goes after her in force.
>>
>>72918737
He's easily going to turn her into the face of political corruption in an election cycle where corruption leading to political dysfunction is the number one issue. She can't go one week without breaking the law even during the election, from laundering money through her victory fund to coordinating illegally with the Correct the Record PAC. He's going to call her a criminal and say she's been taking bribes her whole life (while holding up the receipts) every hour of every day from now until the general election.

The only people who can't see this coming from a mile away are the democratic party establishment and its loyalists, who are blinded by arrogance. Bernie supporters should prepare themselves for eight years of blame-shifting by party whores.
>>
>>72919379
No, the point is that the general electorate despises Trump and won't elect him. He did well in the GOP primary because the GOP is full of retards.

>She's very good with words. Especially her delivery of them.

From what I've seen, that's a myth that's been built up around her. She's a terrible campaigner - despite being the party darling she lost to first-term senator Obama in 2008 and got winded by "socialist" Bernie this primary season. She's completely unable to connect with people and comes off as disingenuous, which is going to wreck her when Trump repeatedly calls her a criminal. And I'm not the only one who thinks she's a bad candidate - not by a long shot.

This is not true. He may have won them in the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, but he will not win those groups in the general electorate.

>>
>>72921118

You can stretch it back to the beginning of time. It's not a phenomena that started in the last 50 years.
People will always vote for the guy who is charismatic and "looks like someone you can have a beer with" over the other guy.
This is something that will never change.
>>
>>72918737
>Does he actually stand a chance against Hillary?
You should be asking the opposite.

Outside of superdelegates she is basically tied with Bernei Sanders, a socialist who only appeals to freshmen college students. So with all the democratic party propping her up, she still has basically no margin.

Lets look at her supporters: extremely fringe identity groups. That's all she has at this point, so if you think the extremes, not even the normal members of gay, black, mexican groups, are as numerous as middle america, then you will be sadly mistaken on election day.
>>
Donald should just say something like "Do you really want HER to be remembered as the first female president?"
>>
Trump is the only one who can siphon black votes away from her
>>
>>72921240
Who do you not understand that /pol/ isn't one person?
>>
Advice for trumpfags:
Dig up evidence of Hillary's un-PC or racist views.

"She was against gay marriage!" won't be enough because SJWs consider gays amongst the most privileged of disadvantaged groups.

Her black supercriminals, etc, are much better lines of attack for discouraging "le first female president!"

Point out that Thatcher in the UK was the UK's only female PM, imply it's because she did a bad job [whether you believe it or not] and wasn't progressive on social issues. Imply you'd love for there to be more than one female president and that means the first one has to be a good one, which means Hillary isn't eligible, which means Trump is the only option and the Democrats can pick another woman later on.

You're pigeonholing the Republican electorate and ignoring Trump's appeal to non republican identifying people, as we've already seen him broaden the base to people who have never voted Republican. Having the spotlight on him without taking shots from every direction will give him a laughably easy platform to change minds, and since he's starting from the worst possible handicap he will easily make gains.

Yes, this is the truth. Democratic party loyalists think they're the average sensible American while their party has become the neoliberal handmaiden to the economic ruling class. The country has turned against their politics (on both sides), but they're too arrogant to see it.

Hillary is the kind of obnoxious mother-in-law figure that nobody wants in their home on Christmas Eve because she'll ruin the whole evening by injecting her snide, passive aggressive remarks about what a piece of shit her daughter's husband is for having a taxidermied 8 point Elk from 3 years ago mounted on the wall where she'd prefer to see a hand-painted portrait of herself.

Trump is the kind of obnoxious father-in-law figure that will see your mounted Elk head and raise you a fucking polar bear hide in front of the fireplace, before personally moving your Elk head into your office where it belongs and putting a hand painted portrait of himself in its place.

I don't see that at all. Yes, they've chosen a few key non-sensical social issues to blow out of proportion in order to appeal to their disaffected base while masking their economic policy, and it is true that this has enraged the growing reactionary right (and, increasingly, independents). But neoliberal economic and trade policy is hardly "left". The Democratic party has been steadily moving right towards hardline pro-corporate positions while faking left on social issues rich donors don't care about since the Clinton administration.

I have seen nothing of the sort from Hillary 'supporters'.

Now there are people who are voting for Hillary I know of, but they seem to hate her as well and only say they are voting for her cause they don't want Trump. Her motivated based is oddly silent and her vocal supporters are incredibly bitter.

Honestly she's a fuck up away from making the election impossible for her by making her easily offended voters to embittered to be arsed to get up and vote come November.

And honestly I don't blame them they got slapped by their own party and told to get in line and stop chasing fairy tells (fairy tells that they honestly hold dear). Its one thing to hear that from your opponent, but from your representative?

Many people are never going to vote woman for president. So he does. But there is more to it that sexism:

I think that this election may spawn some serious results.
both parties are going to select person that many people in them hate (gop trump for not being conservative, dems hilary for being suportive of her husbands mysoginy and establishment)

many people will thus look at third party candidates or write in primary losers, and this may be begining of end of two party system as we know it. i belive trump+hilary will get at most, 85%, more likely 75-80% of votes

we could see one, or even two other people beat ten points. that will not change outcome, but shape drasticaly future elections.

back to topic. Trump and his campaing managers are clever. I belive he just plays stupid to strike masses. I expect that he will fuel it and anonymously create movement for democrats to write in bernie or webb or anyone. Not taking clinton votes for himself, that would be imposible for him, but eroding them away. using this unconvetional strategy he has chance

>It seems like identity politics is the only issues they have campaigned on recently.

Yeah, they have to. I think they know they can't win as Republican Lite, but their base and their campaign financiers have diametrically opposed interests when it comes to economic policy. They've tried to get around this by pretending to fight hard to win on economic issues (but inevitably losing to special interests, of course), but placating their disappointed base with a token social victory (that was often won by outside groups, e.g. gay marriage). It's exactly why Obama was a weak failure of a president who went back on every progressive promise he ever made.

>Corporations seem to have been willing to follow along on the social issue campaign

Of course. Their goal (and the goal of our political establishment) is merely to maximize the wealth and power of the elite while keeping the people just placated enough not to revolt. Of course they'll play along on social issues that don't affect their profits if it will make the people think they've won on something.

That's not 'many more votes' lad, that's +25% who no-one had heard of at the start of the election when she had~55% of popular support.

If you start out with a >50% lead on your competitor and go down to only 25%, you've essentially lost the popular vote from a credibility standpoint.

If that were true Hillary would have the youth vote and Bernie would be nowhere near as persistent as he is

Conventional wisdom? No.

But then that has been wrong this cycle.

Look how (((Nate))) the rat tries to spin a yarn about why he was wrong, note how he paints the situation as a failure of people to stop Trump, that it was a mistake he got elected.

(((Nate))) hates Trump and will continue spewing about how he can't possibly win. Not because of statistics, but because he /mustn't/ win, according to him.

There are people on this board today calling his coverage "fair".

Hillary had 65% a year ago and Bernie had 10% with Biden having most of the remainder in polling

Suddenly Bernie has 47% and Hillary has 50% a year later despite her absolutely fucking ruining his day two months ago on the first of March AKA Super Tuesday One

The only explanation for this is that shillary is utter garbage as a candidate, and in any case Hernie is the favorite in most of the upcoming states and will probably get a slight win in California bringing him to within 1.5 million votes of her.

The handmaiden part certainly does. The Republican establishment has been pursuing a different political philosophy, but the actual stances of their base seem to be extremely unclear at this point - mostly reactionary I suppose. But yes, the dominance of economic power and inverted totalitarianism aren't our future - they're our current reality.

On a basic level it would seem he has no chance. Most Bernie supporters are diehard lefties, they're not just looking to take down the establishment.

You would expect most Democrats to still vote Democrat, and lots of Republicans to abstain. Meaning Trump wouldn't be trying to win Democrats: he'd be trying to win people that should be his given voter base.

But we don't live in a rational world. Trump supporters are rabid and will go out to vote no matter what. Many people that don't like Trump will just abstain or assume he doesn't have a chance.

So basically if he makes himself more palatable to Republicans but convinces Democrats he can't win he might clinch it with a mix of apathy and blind devotion.

Yes, more than one actually.
He's been proven to be immune to slander and media shilling wich is the main democrat weapon.
Lacking that they'll be at a loss on what to do, meanwhile Trump is literally a meme machine, his popularity is spreading by itself like a virus and he could literally be shitting on the stage and that would gain him votes.

He is polling higher and higher and hasn't even begun to attack her. He has Monica and other women suppressed by her and his meme magic which shut Ted, Marco and Jeb down.

He will get burnouts who believe the hillary conspiracy on votes. He will get independents so want the system to burn.

I thought it was a joke and that was the biggest mistake everyone had made. Trump comes out as the alpha, superiorly ranked person in all arguments. He sounds like the boss.

I have no idea what would happen in that event; it's an interesting question actually. I assume that the Democratic party would want to run Biden, but I don't know how that process would happen. Technically she could keep running for president, but I'm sure the party would try to withdraw the nomination. Nothing's stopping them from simply choosing someone else, I suppose.

>Does he actually stand a chance against Hillary?
Probably not.

Benghazi and the emails aren't really a viable attack avenue. Non-conservatives simply don't give a fuck (and immediately dismiss you as brainwashed Fox News drone for bringing them up), and it's really only useful for rallying the troops at home to increase turnout.

Which brings us to the big problem of Trump's bid for the presidency - he's probably not going to be able to keep the Republican coalition together, and he's not going to be able to put together a new coalition by poaching any of the Democratic base. Moderate conservatives genuinely don't like him. Moderate liberals are Hillary's bread-and-butter. Minority voters are not going to pick Trump over Hillary. Sanders liberals will stay home and get stoned on election day, unless Hillary makes Warren (or someone like Warren) her VP, in which case she'll get decent turnout even from that flaky demographic.

Trump is in a very bad position.
