More important that climate change is how weak our infrastructure is. That routine storms cause routine devastation, still to-this-day, lends credence to the alarmism about what will happen to our civilization if global warming of a few degrees does happen.

what do your preventative measures entail though? to make any significant impact you'll have to get the third world on board, and good fucking luck convincing China to give up the dirty energy their livelihood fucking DEPENDS on so we can prevent the temperature from rising a few degrees over the next hundred years. it simply isn't worth it. switch to nuclear or accept climate change, those are the only two viable options.

epin copypasta I made and keep posting in these threads because you dumb faggots can never come up with answers that aren't "hurr just google it m8 like a lot of scientists agree but never published their methodology or anything, they just agree so appeal to authority":

Prove it is:

A: happening (which I don't doubt).

B: can be directly linked to human actions like burning fossil fuels

C: post specifics, how the parts the humans are doing is actually significant. Like what percent is our fault.

D: post specifics, about just how fast "climate is changing" since "global warming" is no longer the meme term. I want real statistics like "we are getting X warmer every year and I will have to worry about it in Y years becuase Z happened and is devastating"

E: post specifics, about just why I should give two fucks if hipsters faggots have to move their shitty cities 2 miles inland while I pay for retarded infrastructure that would probably cost more

F: if all of that is all real and shit, why I would care if it's as tragic as the lefty faggots think, when they're all just destroying our countries and children's futures with mass immigration of mudslimes and taconiggers and increased socialism to support these subhumans

G: Explain how wind turbines that are complete and utter shit, cost more fossil fuels to build and transport and assemble and shit than they save over their liftime and only work in wind, but not too much wind so you have to use tradition power sources anyway, how solar isn't complete shit that get ruined by dust, only works during the day, without clouds or fog or any retard with an umbrella is within 20 miles

H: Explain why we should be pouring billions of my taxpayer money into this when it is proven the private sector is many times more efficient than any government grant program or research fund. If a company makes and patents the next big innovation in energy, they will quite literally become one of the biggest companies in existence

actually the largest source of air pollution right now is the methane generated from the beef industry

and we cant just switch to fish because the oceans cant sustain us anymore

so we need some way to dispose of the mass amounts of methane that doesn't involve exploding the cows (methane combustion in mass beef ranches causing herds of cows to literally explode is a thing that happens)

its to the point where the methane generated (a gas way worse than the co2 generated by fuel emissions) is simulating the amounts generated by the herbivores of jurassic times, those 50 foot long 30 ton motherfuckers that ate tons of grass a day. that shit caused the ice age that wiped them out.

it doesnt help that the damage we've already done is causing the ice caps -which is where that methane eventually settled- to melt, releasing that gas and adding the gasses that caused the last extinction event to add to the issue of our own.

all said, HERE IS THE FUCKIN PROBLEM, kay guvs?

-yes-, a climate change of this scale is a regular part of the earth's cycle and was inevitable from the start. the problem is that our actions are accelerating progress of the issue many times faster than it was originally supposed to arrive. we were supposed to have literally eons before this became an issue; but our artificial addition of green house gasses into the atmosphere has put a brick on the gas pedal, and it's gonna be very difficult to get it off again- and its only gonna get worse the longer we piss around and howl LEL LIBERALS

The best way to stop man-made climate change would be to drastically reduce the number of humans on the planet. There are just too many people, who all need too much energy, for us to switch to "green" fuel sources.

We need a large-scale pandemic to wipe out approximately 50% of the population.

Which is not a bad thing. We're advancing too fast. Every third human in first world countries gets killed by cancer due to chemistry in fucking everything. We're not ready for our standards of living and if it isn't climate change per se or cancer, obesity and diabetes, it's globalism. We ignored the discrepancy between first and third world for too long and now we get flooded with savages (or already have been in America's case).

Except for sciene, pharmaceutical drugs and medicine as a whole, we shouldn't be quite this advances at this point. The automotive industry is probably the biggest ulcer of our world.

Also, less advanced architecture and no highways fucking everywhere would be comfy as fuck.

>>72908735
Why do you continue to make climate change threads? This is such a boring topic.

Here's the solution: more nuclear. 4th gen Nuclear power plants run on the waste of the first 3 gens, so it literally eliminates nuclear waste. It's also incredibly safe. It would take a team of skilled workers who knew EXACTLY what they needed to do days of continuous, round the clock work to remove all the built in fail safes in order to be able to force it to go critical.

Combine this cheap, clean energy with government incentives to make quick charge stations available nationwide, and you will have cut carbon emissions to the bone, leaving just trains and 18 wheelers (which could use biodiesel).

You're welcome.

I spent a good 5 minutes looking at your post and trying to find the argument.

What reasoning do you have to "force everyone to use a standard and relevant time scale."? What exactly is a "relevant time scale," and why should we ignore data on a geological timescale?

Human history starts somewhere in the last ice age, and human prosperity exists within the warm period. We're not even in the warmest part of the warm period, and people are freaking out about the climate turning into a venus-like runaway greenhouse. Its fucking retarded. You say that as though the Middle East isn't ALREADY unlivable.

You are fear mongering the right wing (who isn't against nuclear), rather than facing the harsh truth that left wingers bought into the fear mongering of coal and oil companies about nuclear power, and instead push solar/wind, which is REQUIRED BY LAW to have a reliable backup (as wind and solar is not reliable power). You're not going to get energy companies to invest in nuclear and solar/wind. You can have nuclear, which is clean and reliable, or you can have wind/solar, backed up by coal, diesel, or natural gas.

If you're going to post about global warming, at least have the rules and regulations straight.
>>
Even if climate change is real why would you continually pay the oil jews when you can literally get energy for free once the infrastructure is built?

Not only that, why would you continually pay the car jews for maintenance, road taxes, traffic jams, smog spewing into cities when you could just hop on a clean train, light rail or ride a bicycle for exercise?

Really? Pascal's wager? Is this meant to be an ironic "climate change is a religion" thread? Because holy shit dude.
>>
>>72908735
Climate change is legit, but it's like the canary in the coal mine because there's some real serious shit besides that (and/or because of it) such as the eradication of corals due to rising ocean acidity or the deaths of keystone predators such as elephant which actually reshape the environment by ripping trees out of the ground, allowing smaller grazers and their predators to have territory. The death of primary pollinators due to neonicitinoids is also an issue.

Life is very resilient. Things have to go extinct to make way for others, but when too many things of the right type die out, it's not unreasonable to assume there's going to be ripple effects. The dinosaurs for example didn't die out in a single day. For millions of years, they had been in decline. A fatass meteor smacks the planet and they still don't die out immediately.. it is thought that some species of dinosaur survived for thousands of years after the event, and even the species that died out took months and years to disappear.

We're probably already fucked, but life will carry on without us.
>>
>>72917759
But I don't like the world we live in myself? Concrete buildings everywhere, corrupt pharmaceutical industry that literally makes money with (unsolved) diseases of civilization and people dying, cars everywhere, everything "natural" you see is a lie and fenced fields with cows or other shit (milk cows which literally emit more methane than cars), beautiful animals going extinct (variety and beauty is one big reason we hate to see the white race declining) and seeing this discrepancy everywhere with children starving. I'm not a SJW fag but this is not right, obviously.

Cancer also becomes more and more common and there is a high chance you'll have to say bye to your fucked up mother dying from it in a shitty hospital.
>>
>>72918541

Some Greens parties are opposed to nuclear and things like genetically modified food but many people who identify as 'left wing' have no problem with nuclear energy. Especially thorium reactors which could save our ass on the way to fusion.

One thing that is really appealing though is that the price of solar is getting really cheap and for many parts of the world that are very sunny we should just be installing solar panels on roofs rather than building massive nuclear power plants, although if you live in a place with fuckall wind and sun then nuclear is the best option.
>>

yes see people understand that if a human activity releases exhaust/any gas into the atmosphere it is magical by virtue of being human related, and physics somehow dont apply, and ignores those atoms humans had anything to do with

all EM and chemical/etc effects, temperature, density, solar wind, so on so on are oblivious to atoms of "human" gases

magical.

Of course they do. They bought into the fear mongering in New York that the oil, coal, and natural gas companies shilled out, and now they would rather stick their own child into a microwave than consider nuclear.

To be fair, OP seems to consider nuclear a good option. This, of course, only leaves one question: if he already has the answer, why ask the question on a board full of people who have zero issues with nuclear?

Personally, I don't give a shit about people who deny climate change. Here's why: it's totally irrelevant.

The cleanest option for the vast majority of people also happens to be the cheapest. I'm completely unsold on humans contributing to climate change, but it's totally irrelevant, because I like saving money. So I light my house with LEDs. When they are affordable enough, I will purchase an electric car. I stopped streaming videos through my PS3, and started using a Roku 3, because it only uses 3.5w, versus my PS3 using 90w.

I'm out to save money. And THAT is the argument you can use to convince people. You don't even have to touch on the long-term benefits. Appeal to their sense of greed.

What a moron.

>>72919548
Solar panels are still incredibly useful, if you are in a building that is occupied all day in a tropical, sub-tropical, Mediterranean or desert climate then you can get a lot of energy for free. Not to mention that with advances in battery technology homes and businesses can store their surplus energy.

Energy is expensive in western white countries.

Concentrated solar power is a good idea and should be done too, it's just that it will be a big initial investment and will most likely have to be a government undertaking. I think that a decentralized grid is the way to go. If most people can absorb and store their energy then the upkeep costs for maintaining an extensive and expensive electricity grid will result in massive savings.

I love your amazing takedown of solar panels though, lol.

Your understanding of economics is too simplified. You would be correct of course if the resources industries such as coal, natural gas and oil weren't backed by either extremely wealthy corporations or nation states (Russia, Saudi Arabia).

Currently many of these resources are subsidized by governments all around the world, unless world governments step in and introduce a carbon tax or subsidize new technologies like solar then consumers will not be able to substantially change the way things are.

It's a way for governments to favor technologies and manufacturing methods that are more efficient and pollute less. The taxed money would be used to change the energy sector in a number of ways like redirecting the money raised by the carbon tax into subsidizing rooftop solar panels.

How is this so controversial. You could either do a carbon tax or you could just do a massive hundreds of billions of dollars manhattan project that builds hundreds of thousands of solar panels or whatever.

We do have a lot of power, and we certainly aren't the first species to cause global change. Ever wonder why our atmosphere has oxygen in the first place? Cyanobacteria. It's likely that oxygen was toxic to other early organisms back then, billions of years ago, and that Cyanobacteria caused their extinction.

Now we're doing something similar, but with carbon instead of oxygen. It's hard to put it back once you've burned it. Man-made attempts to sequester carbon are nigh impossible at a large scale.

We're not as powerful as those little photosynthesis factories (which also comprise the largest physical mass of life on Earth), but we're more powerful than you think.

I believe humans might have a negligible effect on the climate but not nearly enough to wreck our economies over, the climate has historically changed over time even without human interference, if I believed in the leftist narrative of global warming I'd be happy about it preventing the next ice age and not killing off significant portions of my species

>the world succumbs to chaos and death

Because renewable energy would cause a global collapse?

What?

We'll never stop using oil unless we develop something that we can create cheaply and use instead. Oil supplies will last a very long time and it's a good thing because we use oil to make many products. It's not just for gasoline in cars cuckold.

Well, at least you finally narrowed it down to the correct hemisphere. If only you could decide between the northern and southern hemisphere.

That would reduce solar radiation which would be bad for plants and solar power. A much easier thing to do would be to plant trees and then use the wood to build things or even bury the wood underground. If we perfect carbon sequestration and use it in tandem with renewable energy then we could feasibly ride this out.

Carbon Dioxide has a beneficial effect on photosynthesizing organisms, however if the environment in which that organism was naturally selected for changes due to an increase in global temperature and the amount of rainfall changes then it's going to wreak havoc on the environment and overall it won't be a positive change for plants.

Nice attempt at simplifying the whole issue you fucking idiot.

was climate change invented by fucking gypsies, if climate change is so fucking severe what makes anyone think they can change it with a couple windmills, and why is it always imposed on America when Asia beats everyone out 20fold

Germany and Ireland.

Let me guess, now you'll say that Turks emigrated to Germany a few hundred years ago, and that one of my forefathers was one? If so, I eagerly await your proof.

Not true. Photovoltaics only utilise the photoelectric effect with visible light spectrum photons, not UV.

Carbon sequestration via forestry mulching could be useful for you guys since it could allow you to fertilise large regions of useless land for farming without fear of massive topsoil erosion. Also Carbon Tax credits.

im not going full retard, im just not going full fucking kneejerk give all my money to Obama so he can go on more golf trips in his private jet while Leonardo Dicaprio guilt trips me driving a Corolla instead of a Preus from his Private Yacht.

Hell I believe climate change to be real, not in the extremes that al gore wants everyone to believe, but im not parting with my money when Celebrities and our own politicians pollute more than everyone in my fucking County

Germany is in central Europe and was within proximity to several states that were invaded and whose women were subsequently raped by Turks (mongols) such as Hungary and Poland.

Not to mention the Turks that lived IN EUROPE like the Crimean Tartars.

Ireland is not European and it is not populated by Europeans, it is an Island off of the coast of Europe that is populated by potato niggers.

You shouldn't have to part with money it should be the government that regulates the market.

There are several things that the government could or should do such as:

1) Stop subsidizing fossil fuels and the associated industries.

2) Begin subsidizing renewable energy industries and technological development

3) Pass a carbon tax to incentivize businesses and corporations to reduce their carbon footprint. Spend that money on renewable energy subsidies such as subsidizing solar panels for the roofs of houses in sunny places or subsidize the cost of wind turbines in windy areas.

The consumer should not have to donate money to anything and if done right the consumer will be the one who saves the most money in the end.
