Emperor Julian I not returning the Roman empire to Hellenistic religious practices. The church and its squabbles (the Iconoclasm especially) led to the empire being weak at the outbreak of Islam.
Islam's conquering of Roman north africa and the Levant did lead to Christian Europe becoming the new center of Western Civilization, but I think the world would be better off and technology and peace much more advanced had the Roman empire retained power and Islam never come to light.
Not to mention the bassackwards morality conundrums both Christianity and Islam cast over the world.
