I live in the North and I think the South is pretty cool. They have a slightly different way of living that is still American. My only deal with them is their forced rivalry they seem to have with "Yankees".
If I go down South everyone is polite, but there's still this thing where they hate on people from up North. While I'll agree that Northern people are less engaging than Southern people, no one up North would bat an eye if someone said they were from Georgia or Alabama.
I've visited the South with my girl who has family down there. It was nothing but constant challenges because I'm a damn Yankee. But living in the North when people visit from the South visit, no one cares or thinks differently of you. It must be a slight culture difference.

I'm from Alabama but originally from California. There is a kind of certain view of Northerners that even I kinda view too only because its one of those stereotypes exist for a reason kind of things.
I don't dislike them but we can tell how different they are. People always tell me they know I'm not from the south because I don't have an accent but non southerners tell me the ycan tell I am from the south because I have an accent.
