I have never understood why being young is any excuse for being a moron or a leech. I will sound fedoracore but I have considered myself a grown up since age 17 and the first few years after that were hard on me psychologically because I was fully conscious of being an almost pure consumer and a drain on the forces and wealth of other people.
Forget the white guilt bullshit, but I have had severe guilt between 17-22 knowing I was a leech. Do "free shit" students even realize they are unproductive? Do they not feel the strive for producing things? Don't they have any consciousness of time? If so, why are their time preference so ridiculous (here and now)?
