they asked him some questions and showed him a print-out of the post, he just explained he wasn't serious and they told him not to do it again and left

Any threat against potus will get you a visit from the secret service. I worked on a locked psychiatric ward that had a pay phone. Psychotic patients would get on, call where ever and make threats. I've seen the secret service show up on several occasions.
