Is it really diverse if 50% of the people are black and 50% are white? Is that less diverse than an office where everyone is a different colour? Is an office of two people who are both different races more or less diverse than an office of 200 who are all from different places?

Actual diversity does have a benefit in a lot of fields. Having a biochemist, a theoretician and an engineer in your small biochem startup will get you farther than just having 3 chemists.

The only proven benefit of diversity in the workplace is a greater level of scrutiny towards other people's performance. That is just a normal consequence of people not trusting each other, because deep down everyone is a racist.
There are huge downsides to it though, but bigger companies can create jobs more easily to absorb the less productive workforce in bullshit departments that don't matter that much in generating revenue.
Small companies are screwed because they can't afford to pay the "diversity tax" and have to hire less competent people to meet some arbitrary social goal of representation, which is goes against the basic principles of capitalism, that you should always hire the best person for the job.
What the left is doing is tantamount to sabotaging small, public facing companies, which are the place where real innovation and progress happen. I just cannot figure out what is their endgame, apart from total collapse of Western civilization.

You see, for those "exotic" people, they count every caste, religion and closely related people as different. Thus India has "diversity".
Of course applying this same principle you would see diversity in Europe because we have different languages, cultures, history, beliefs. A Dane and a Swede would be counted as two different peoples living closely together, and a joint scandinavian workplace would be diverse.
