250's and 300's are fine for normal road speeds. my first bike was a 250, a kawasaki dual cam dual sport that made like 30 hp on paper, topped out at like 70-75.
but 0-45 was brisk enough to keep you out of trouble.
300 cc is NOT perfect for everything, i've been interstate commuting for like 7 years now. i went to a 600 sportbike once i nearly died from not having enough power to get out of the way.
you'll trade in that 300 soon enough, but make all of your major mistakes on it now.
