Russia's strength is mainly that they are actually willing to use their military power. Also, they've built their forces specifically to challenge US. In some areas they are far ahead of us, like hypersonic missiles and high speed torpedoes, capable of taking out our biggest weapons (carrier with thousands of sailors aboard)
Only outcome from US-Russia war is that US backs down, or all-out thermonuclear war. Long-term China is a bigger threat, since their priority is ensuring the survival of Han Chinese on Earth, and fuck every other country, fuck every animal, fish, tree, whatever gets in their way.
Pretty confident Trump would defuse tensions with Russia, and spheres of influence would be agreed on to prevent more land snatching.
Russia aren't fighting anyone... Periodically they get nationalistic and look for fights, the thing is there's no longer any profit in war so everyone is declining the invitation.
China is our actual biggest threat. I think China thinks if they take the entire south China sea then Philippines and Vietnam will buy oil/gas from China... After China took away their ability to drill their own oil/gas. Stupid. Stupid as fuck, China literally acting like Italy in the 1910s, just strutting around diplomatically pretending it'll win the fights it's picking.

I was thinking more when they got their ass handed to them in WW1, a war they only really entered because they were newly unified and wanted to flex their muscles. China is doing the same shit, they're just being aggressive to see how far they can get, they neither need nor really want the islands in the south China sea.
