How do I quit my internet and porn addiction? It's ruining my life. It's extremely degenerate.

I ask /pol/ because I figure there are more disciplined people here than say /r9k/.

Stop going on the internet and fapping to porn would be a good start.
>>
throw away your pc

I've managed to cut down porn a lot but really the internet as a whole is the real problem. And given that I have a computer related career I don't see that suddenly stopping. But at least I've managed to quit porn.

When I start my job in a few months I might consider leaving all personal computers at work overnight every other night
>>
just stop going to 4chan

too many opportunities for a trigger, even on a worksafe board
>>
>>72302297
Of course it's a frogposter
>>
>>72302467
that's even harder than giving up porn honestly.
I've only gotten this far with quitting porn because I can use places like this to distract myself instead.

Realistically I'd need to give up my whole career path and go farm or something low-tech for life.

Easiest way is to find hobbies, spend some time looking for hobbies fill the time you'd spend fapping or browsing with useful things like reading, working out, meeting people to hang out with, the more you get out the more you'll no longer feel the urge

Hardmode: get rid of everything you own that connects to the internet
>>
Read "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg. Every day you're doing little things that influence your habits. If you stop doing certain triggers then it changes your behavior.
>>
>>72302552
try to ween off it. go to other sites instead. do things away from the computer, like a hobby

also start fapping without porn, or at least without internet porn
>>
>>72302297
Find a hobby. Start fapping to soft core porn, then lighter stuff, and eventually fap without porn. Hang out with friends as often as you can. Start working out. Make your own meals. Get a girlfriend.

None of it's going to happen overnight. The way it worked for me (as stupid as it sounds) is I imagined living in in a time before computers; I got rid of internet, my cellphone, video games, everything. I started taking pictures with disposable cameras, wrote people's numbers in address books, started reading, went to bed before 12. It sounds autistic, and I probably took it too far, but it really made me appreciate everything. Doing things felt more like an event than just "doing things". Hope this helps

Have a no gadget day. I spent 8 am to 6 pm free from both computers and got further with my short story in one day than I did all April. Makes coming back to this place feel oddly refreshing on top of that.

Manage your addictions, don't destroy them. As shitty as these places can be there is a reason beyond an insurmountable desire that you browse.

The main problem is I'm still in grad school and literally all my work requires me to be at the computer all the time.

I solve any problem with porn or gaming simply by working in a public area or on a public computer all day but realistically I realize that I'd need to give up my studies and the job I just got if I really want to change myself at all.

The guy further up had the answer. leave work at work, have home be a separate place with a separate mindset.

Takes a bit of discipline but once you settle into it you just do it automatically.
>>
>>72302297
Work out more or something. I got a fitbit a while ago, and now I feel guilted into drinking water and working out for 30 minutes a day at least. Also, I stopped jerking a few weeks in for some reason. I lost the compulsion.
>>
>>72303114
that will be a lot easier when I actually have a real job, as of now my work is research related coding and I end up working on it at home all the time.

I suspect everything will get easier once I have normal work hours instead of classes at night twice a week with a 2 hour commute from home and then an indefinite amount of time spent working on my projects.

When I had an internship last summer I had no trouble working hard when I needed to

You could try having sex.

Anyway internet addiction isnt that bad. Look around ya bud everyone is buried 24/7 in smart phone screens.

Porn is easy to quit. Just dont watch it.

When you do jerk off don't use visual stimulation but rather work on getting off to the feeling. Take some lotion and rub the head of your penis while you jerk off or something.

Only do this when you feel you need to.
>>
Who given up here? I am just fapping until the end here.
>>
>>72303551
no, porn and fapping is the one thing I'm actually cutting out of my life at least until I can find a real girl again (only ever had one and we never had sex in our 2 year relationship because we actually thought we were going to marry).

4chan and internet though is a different story
>>
>>72303264
it will. soon you'll simply be too preoccupied or busy to do it

might try setting aside a time to fap one out, a scheduled time every day
>>
>>72303768
The thing I've been doing this term is fapping as a reward for completing an important assignment.
>>
>>72302297
stop paying for the internet
>>
>>72302467

Why stop coming here when you can just block 4chan.org from displaying pictures?

You don't even have to miss on the latest epic memes if you still allow i.4cdn.org, you'll just have to open the image in a different tab.

ironically for me, since I didn't grow up with a smartphone, using my phone for browsing is a good thing and I never even get the thought of using my phone for porn.

I'm sure this is much different for gen Z'ers, but for me I'm only triggered to think of fapping when I'm at a laptop or PC, and never with a phone.

Step 1: Stop commenting, posting, replying, liking, or any other kind of interacting with other people online. Minimal and essential interactions only.

Step 2: Start using a different device. If you use a computer mostly. Switch to a mobile device. If you mostly use mobile, switch to a computer. You want to remove your "comfort" level as much as possible, while essentially doing the exact same thing. The idea is that it seems too different, not as nice, than what you are currently using. This is amazingly effective. WARNING: may cause agitation

Step 3: Replace parts of that time with something else. A video game. A book. Limit yourself to just some shows and movies. It's an effective yet subtle shift.

Step 4: Schedule. Set strict times and duration. Goal would be obviously x amount of times a day for x amount of length. Reduce x on regular intervals.

Step 5: Learn to meditate faggot.

Stop using the internet and live a little

We weren't made to sit behind computer screens 24/7
>>
>>72302297
Take a tour to dprk, no Internet there.
>>
>>72306459
That's actually not entirely true.
>>
>>72302297

Disable your internet connection

I wouldn't blame the porn, I would blame more significant factors, like society or sexy kids.

Going on my second week of no fap bro, idk how religious you are or not, but calling onto a higher power has helped me out.. I can say I had for have a strong addiction to porn after I quit my addiction to alcohol and drugs two years ago.

As soon as I start getting lewd thoughts I stop immediately what I'm doing that triggered those thoughts or urges and try to switch to a different activity like playing some vidya, exercise, watch tv, or just put down my phone/close my laptop and close my eyes and ask God to help me stay strong if the urge is really bad.
>>
>>72310296
honestly, nofap alone is the easy part when you can use the rest of the internet to distract yourself. Quitting something like 4chan is MUCH MUCH harder
>>
Move to a place with very slow internet.

I'm getting 40kbps. Even though I'm posting here now, it has made me realise how horrid my internet addiction has become.
