Best fuckin' fighter ever made
It can down any potential adversary

>PAK-FA
Even if it was somehow better than F-22 (which it isnt),the Russians cant even produce more that 5 PAK-FA's.

>J-20/J-31
No way that Chinese could make a fighter better than F-22.''Chinese stole F-22 technologyits the same Aircraft!''
If USA knows how to make F-22,it certainly knows what its weaknesses are,and they're going to use it.Also no way chinese could produce the same aircraft as F-22.We can see a chinese copy of everything. It may look good, but its shit.

>Gripen/Eurofighter/Rafale/Su-35
No stealth.Eurocrafts can be shot down BVR from kilometers away.
>M-muh radar.
F-22 has the same,or even better radar than Eurocrafts.
>M-muh dogfighting training victories
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOswfrc7Xtg
In real combat, this would be rare occasion.
Gripen pilot had long time locking the gun sight on the F-22.The F-22 never hunts alone.Gripen would be downed by another F-22 way before it would lock on the first F-22.
Just imagine a scenario,USA vs Any rogue state that bought export Rafales. The F-22 would outnumber the rafales anway.(Since USA and France will never fight in near future).

>SAMS
Fly at damn high altitude, antiradar missiles from F-35's and poof.
>M-muh F-117A shot down
Look at my flag.Look.
That F-117A was flying the same exact flight path as the days before, and had the bomb doors open,it was on flight back to the Airbase when it finished dropping its bombs in targets in Belgrade.

Keep it up,USA.
You guys may have bombed my country, but damn,i do admire the Aircraft.

So now you have to pay the salary of 28 F-4's. Salary of crew chiefs for each plane. Maintenance and fuel consumption for each plane. Logistics and basing for each plane. 28 planes is more than your average squadron.

Meanwhile that 1 F-22 could probably systemically destroy all 28 F-4's over time.

Like all things there is always a way to counter it.
They build something and then we find a way to beat it, they find a way to beat that and so on.

Nothing is invincible but go say it can be locked tracked and successfully engaged with a missile because, "I say it can, someone told me, I read it on the internet," does not cut it for me.
Nobody has ever done it. No plane has been shot down to know one way or the other.
Since this has never ever happened I am asking where are people getting this information as such.
This is more of a sarcastic remark than anything because nobody knows how either system will perform in real world combat conditions. Or that it will not be the raptor taking out the S class SA systems anyway. That is not the job the Raptor was designed to do.

So again I say, who told you that?
Who told anybody that?

You don't even need to shoot missles at it. Don't even bother. Its shit range and high maintenance needs means that you just need to knock out the in-flight refuelers and/or wait a few days until the F-22s are all grounded for maintenance.

Or you could overwhelm it with massive numbers of cheapass J-10s or whatever. Not much it can do when it runs out of missles.

The only real use I see for the F-22 is on defense. That way, it doesn't have to worry about operational range and in-flight refueling, and will have lots of help in knocking out waves of chinkshit.

The F-22 needs an air combat record before it can be considered the best anything. So far it has only dropped 1000lb. JDAMs in Syria basically taking over the role left after the F-1117 retired. Otherwise it has intercepted a few Russian bombers for mutual photo ops.

It's a real possibility, yes. Remember we don't really believe in dogfighting anymore. It takes a discrete amount of time to lock a target, open a weapons bay, and fire a missile. And you only carry a few missiles. Once they're done you have to spend time on the ground to reload.

So if you have 6 missiles per plane and 5/6 hit the target, and the enemy has 6 times your number of planes, no other forces in play, they pretty much have the win. You knock out 5/6 enemies, but the remaining enemies knock out all your jets.

Yeah, supercruise is neat, but its range is still only 1,900mi or so, which limits it to fairly short sorties if there isn't a tanker on hand.

>>72298307
What makes it worse is that the F-22 can't use the AIM-120D or AIM-9X yet (although a year ago it was at least able to test fire a 9X, so that's something), and won't get helmet mounted sights and multicueing until at least 2020, if ever. The F-35 development basically assraped the F-22 getting updated to be as capable as it was supposed to be from the beginning.

It's sad, there was a truly great plane in there somewhere, but today's US aerospace industry can't develop a good bird to save its fucking neck.

Between UAVs, satellites, and Things What Can Not Be Discussed, the SR-71's role kinda disappeared, and it was too expensive to keep going. It sucks that it's no longer flying, but the rationale is understandable. Maybe the SR-72 will happen, but it won't be as sexy.

>>72300606
China almost certainly has every tidbit of info on the F-35. Between Israel's bullshit and their own hacking efforts, it's likely that they have full dox on the whole fucking US military and its equipment.

Anyway, they even have their own plane based partly on the F-35, the J-31. It copies a lot of the F-35, but presumably not the suck and the high costs.

>M-muh radar.
>F-22 has the same,or even better radar than Eurocrafts.

Doesn't work like this if the enemy has land based radars. Finland is currently in process of buying a new plane. Air Force's assessment from simulations etc is that while stealth is nice, a mimo radar can beat it in many scenarios. So it's questionable if one should buy a few "stealth" planes instead of multiple tested platforms that can be serviced in the field etc.

Yea. It has better engines than what Americans ever created :)

> as much as the shuttle was an engineering triumph i think we overdid it. it became too expensive and maintenance intensive

Well the soviet one was able to perfom unmanned if necessary, how about the American one? Also I'm pretty sure the American shuttle was cancelled because it got too unsafe.
>>
Oh and the first shuttle crash was caused by the good old american idiocy: they used rubber o-rings near that couldn't handle cold weather :D Interesting if this is what Americans call "over-engineering" :D

It got cancelled because it was 30 years old.

Not just a 30 year old design but literally a 30 year old spacecraft that were used upwards of 40 times each.

They long surpassed their wear out dates. The fact they were able to be reused so many times and for so long is a tribute to their quality.

yea they never locked it with a radar. it was found out later that it had been using that same egress over and over passing thru that area several times prior. Was flying the same route out of the country as it had flown in and its weapons bay doors had malfunctioned in the unclean configuration.
Was shot basically with AAA not surface to air missiles.
Failed mission planning and equipment caused that to happen.
And someone on the ground that was a kick ass shot with that bb.
>>
>>72304137
>It got cancelled because it was 30 years old.

Bullshit. It got cancelled because it just wasn't very good.

> The Space Shuttle program has been criticized for failing to achieve its promised cost and utility goals, as well as design, cost, management, and safety issues

> Not just a 30 year old design but literally a 30 year old spacecraft that were used upwards of 40 times each.

So are you saying that American designs age over two times faster than Russian ones? :D

> They long surpassed their wear out dates. The fact they were able to be reused so many times and for so long is a tribute to their quality.

That being said even with the crazy restricted ROE we were operating under and the Luxembourg lens installed so they could get a lock on us we still moped the floor with them. The 22 is just Scarry good in the air.

U whot m8 there are over 180 F22's in active service right now. Yes they cut the order roughly in half, but that had a lot to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union. When the reds stopped having the ability to even attempt to counter the raptor we didn't need 400 of them. Now that the J20 is coming on line the air force is looking at restarting production.

Saw zero combat for first 10 years because it's too expensive, too complicated and too fragile to have real-world combat value in an active warzone.

Now you've had it lob a couple of JDAMs at helpless Syrians so you can go "see! it's not just a 70 billion dollar airshow queen!"

Really stretching the alleged abilities there guys. Also it can carry a whole two (2) 1000-pounders. That's really going to turn the tide.

In short, the F-22 is defeated by dust, rain, sunshine, software bugs and international time zones, and it also gives pilots brain damage by oxygen deprivation. But it is the most expensive and pointless method ever of delivering two bombs into a Hilux technical.

Red Flag is about as close to the real thing as you can get. Probably even tougher then the real thing would be versus many potential adversaries.

The Raptor fucking dominates. I don't think the gap between one fighter and all the rest has ever been so large.

>And yeah, KC-135s are a thing, but in a war against anyone with a real air force, they'll be attacked hard.

I hate to agree with you on this as a brit. but the F-22 is the best fighter imo. The eurofighter and raphale are no slouches, SU-37 and possibly MIG 35.

The A10 is one of the best support jets ever. It is a literal flying tank designed around one of the biggest machine guns to ever go airborne. Name one other jet that can fly missing half its engines, half its tail, hydraulics, an elevator, and half a fucking wing, while taking enough rounds to the cockpit that would leave the pilot of a lesser aircraft needing to be hosed out, and still return its pilot to base safely after completing a mission.
