Went to best buy the other day for ddr4 ram. They didn't have any in the "Windows section" and they directed me to the "gaming section" where they also didn't have any. Luckily Amazon had some on same day delivery.

Let brick and mortar die, it's fucking useless.

>truck driver has route to deliver

vs

>driving 20 miles just to buy a hard drive at frys
>>
>>72262247
actually it helps local businesses by giving them a world-wide market instead of being limited to local area.

Only incompetent management that refuses to take advantage of the internet for business purposes are left behind.

Of course, it depends also on the kind of business. You can't very well order a pizza from the US to be delivered to South korea.
>>
>>72262247
I've been to that exact location

It's nice. I haven't been there in years though, outdated business model desu
>>

nigger wtf do you need ddr4 ram for?
>>
>>72262247
Workers there are the worst. But ones in PC section always understand what I'm saying so I continue to buy shit from them. It would be much better if the total segregate normie section with autist section.

Says Eric, from his Pentium 2 Dual core desktop.

"This baby can take up to a GTX 560! If you set all the graphics to low, stick to older games, then most of them run over 16 fps! You can even get graphics reducing mods to make more of the newer games work. What the fuck do people need faster computers for? This is way more energy efficient, that's also why I only use one monitor and headphones from my old walkman."

Eric is a dirty hippy of PC users, don't be like Eric.
>>
>>72263602
I'm with you friend, I have DDR3 in my PC too. I've been out of the loop though, didn't even know they had DDR4 ram already. The reason being I'm kind of out modern gaming, it's shit, I'm back to playing the classics. Good thing I don't have the need to upgrade anymore.
>>
>>72262247

It's true.

We need to bring back tariffs and heavy taxes on big businesses (as opposed to small businesses, which should be taxed much less)
>>
>>72263822
ffs i was being serious
there is NO reason to upgrade to ddr4 ram yet if you are a gamer that is
if you need it for work then its a different story
>>
>>72262247
Why do they have Quetzalcoatl in their logo?

Now only if they can figure out cash for online purchases

Plus, I don't like waiting for my items, even worse if weather messes everything up.

I have 64 GB of DDR4 Ram, I can edit and render 4k graphics effects from After effects in seconds.

I can create a virtual drive and move Fallout 4 to it and never see a load screen even thought I modded it and removed settlement budgets and have walls around them all. The vanilla load for this stuff starts to take minutes even on new machines. I'm maxing this shit out and I literally don't see a load screen.

DDR4 ram does everything 3 does, but it's faster and bigger and cheaper, and building a PC for it means you will be better prepared for future upgrades. You are a poorfag if you built a system in the last year without it.
>>
>>72263305

I have 32 GB of DDR4

I do lots of 3D modeling (engineering, not 3DP)
>>
>>72263112
Not entirely true. In no way shape or form can a small - mid size business compete in online prices. Eventually they will die out, and there will be only one or two big ones left. Care to guess what those big cheap retailers will do with prices by then?
>>
>>72263751

Here all the independent music shops have closed down except for one.
Now if I want a set of new strings, do I drive to the shop pay ÂŁ3 for 20 minute parking, sit in traffic queues and perhaps not get what I need.
Or do I order them online and pay ÂŁ3 for postage.
Online is so much less hassle.

The only way to save the shops is to do away with parking fees, but then people will just take the piss and park there all day.
>>
>>72264306

I was wondering why the Fry's I went to while on vacation in LA was themed like the fuckin amazon forest
>>

>>
>>72264306
Nope I haven't , that's awesome but kind of excessive (they built a replica Aztec pyramid ffs) Probably one of the reasons they're failing against online businesses.
>>
>>72264359
Does it really help with rendering?
>>
>>72264359
that makes sense
you use it for work/hobby or whatever
>>72264314
if you really have 64 gbs of ddr4 ram just to play fucking fallout 4 you should really learn how to spend your money because the game performs the same as you described with my 16gbs of ddr3 ram
>>
>>72263969
Faster load times, better mod capacity, 4K texture mods, viewable when distant mods, ram drives that absolutely kill load times.

There is a lot of shit your ram can do for gaming if you don't have pleab quantities of it. It pairs with a graphics card for texture load, makes your page index way faster, and more.

The fuck do you mean what does it offer gamers? Are you fucking retarded?
>>
>>72264527

No, it's to try to kill big businesses and make as many small businesses as possible
>>
>>72264306
LOL, no need for much modding for a lazor tag or paint ball place.
>>
>>72263822

>>
>>72264584
of course not. Workstation gpus are very different in architecture and software from consumer grade gpu's. They don't operate the same way.

Same goes for cpu's. Buy to purpose, not bigger = better.

>>
>>72264584

Yes. I have component assemblies with 100s of parts. Cloud rendering was too slow, even (also, Autodesk charges money). As the rendering engines have become more detailed they have basically paced with what VRAM/RAM can handle, so you have to basically have the most possible in current consumer market (I don't have a huge server to offload processes to).

Best Buy is a terrible place to get computer parts, or anything really. Pretty much all the stuff they sell you can get cheaper/a better version of directly from a manufacturer.

Best buy sells generic audio systems, big screen tv's, laptops, and cellphones, with marginal software.

Actually, I was walking through looking for some hard disk adapter not too long ago and noticed all their video games shelves were nearly bare. I think they'll be moving away from carrying physical copies of games soon.

The second, original store, was rad. Not the first one next to Egghead software (before Fry's sold videogames), but the one across the street. The inside was designed to look like you were walking around a motherboard. I have no pictures of it--pretty sure it closed a couple decades ago, when they moved to the other side of the freeway. It probably wasn't as cool as I remember it being, but they did have all these things in the aisles shaped like the bits and pieces on a motherboard. And they had just a massive selection of computer games, back when that was still an in-store thing.

M8 you do know about the SSD load time bug right?

If vsync is on during load screens the loader can glitch out when on an SSD and take forever. Theres a simple fix up on Nexus.

I was thinking about this lately. I was going to get a new keyboard at a local music store. They had a nice'n, priced around $1,300 which is probaby worth the value. I went to look up some reviews online, and found it on Amazon for $900. Free two day shipping, senpai. Should I spend $300 more because of a concept?

Any time I buy something relatively expensive at a store, I realize how badly I have been ripped off later. I am pretty much done shopping for anything that isn't food at a store.

Small business and big business all suck for different reasons. I just want my consumer goods cheap and fast nothing else matters. Online wins and if my local economy tanks due to horrible shop owners that don't update their inventory or business model then so be it. They don't deserve to function any longer and the local people are stuck in the past so it deserves to burn.
