The Turkish government demanded censorship at an art gallery in Geneva, to which Vice Mayor Guillaume Barazzone replied:
“Geneva will not allow any country to be influenced in this matter. Geneva and Switzerland stand for freedom of expression. [...]
“Therefore the administrative council will support this exhibition and it is out of the question to remove this photograph.”
The photograph mentioned, which is featured in the art gallery and which Turkey wants removed, is one of Berkin Elvan, a 15 year old killed in 2013 during anti-government protests in Gezi Park, Istanbul.
