I just think that a basic income is the logical solution to the socioeconomic reality that we live in today. If people want to be entrepreneurs and make good bux for themselves, they can still do that. Yes we can set up a machine to make a billion parts, but first someone must design said part, then someone must order the material in the most cost effective manner. All the material must be shipped to manufacturing, unloaded from whatever means of freight it was transported, then the material must be loaded on to the machine. Then a programmer must make a program to manufacture the part as well as affix all the required tools into the machine and align them with the part so as to be within manufacturing tolerance. He will then make one part and inspect it to ensure it is within tolerance. If so then another worker will oversee the operation of the machine, replacing worn out tools as necessary and inspecting each part.

I would agree providing a Universal Basic Income, but in exchange, all who request the UBI are required to live in ultra high density public housing located on the outskirts of just a few large cities
To receive the UBI you would have to relocate to one of these areas
UBI recipients would have to permanently give up voting rights, automobile ownership, firearm ownership, the ability to freely travel without the UBI Commission approval, access to higher education would be forfit
All UBI participants would also undergo
permanent sterilization
UBI enrollees would also need to wear a uniform and have a facial tattoo to denote their status while in public
UBI would also limit the purchase/ownership of any goods considered to be luxury items
UBI would provide basic medical services, no above and beyond measures for those in the program
