Is there a bigger audience of degenerates than Crust Punks?
For those blessed without the knowledge of these pathetic vagrants, imagine crossing a dirty hippie with an anarchist Punk squatter. Now try to imagine that same shithead dedicating his future to an idle life of homelessness, hard drugs and the occasional temper tantrum informed by the latest lyrical screed of their favorite band. When he isn't beating his bongo drums or strumming his out of tune guitar at the latest protest, he's shooting smack, panhandling, accosting some poor sucker who committed the unspeakable atrocity of eating meat in his presence or ganging up with his buddies on another sucker who happened to say something racist.
There really isn't a more obnoxious subculture than this. Even the most loutish, knuckle-dragging skinhead looks dignified in comparison.
That said, I don't mind some of their music. At times, it's cathartically hateful and aggressive.
I feel sorry for those poor dogs they keep as pets.

I'd just like to point out, a surprising amount of them hate ethnics. Probably because a lot of them tend to be travelers - hopping freight trains, hitch hiking, what have you - and have been to some of the more culturally enriched places in America, and seen firsthand that niggers are gonna nig, etc. Also, I haven't really found very many vegan gutter punks either, partly because, if you live life as a beggar, you eat whatever the fuck you can get your hands on.
I will, however, concede the points of a life of homelessness, chronic hard drug use, and temper tantrums (perhaps brought on by latent mental illness). Oh, man, I've seen some shit.

Music subcultures have become a complete joke to me, I can't even go to shows anymore. I would rather listen to music in the comfort of my office and home and not have to stand around in a room full of kids trying too hard to be unique and original. I came to this conclusion _during_ a punk show that I went to in high school. I literally left mid-set and stopped talking to a couple of the people I had been friends with for years. I realized if I was going to follow in the footsteps of the bands I looked up to that I would be the definition of controlled opposition, and I wasn't okay with that.
I think 90% of punks just aren't smart enough to objectively question the world and their experiences without the "culture/counterculture" hegelian dialectic thing.
Shit is really sad because a lot of them are great people, just really misguided.

As a fan of Punk music and culture (I'd post my vest if I had a camera on me), I've got to say crusties are really the worst.
Seriously. Most of them host completely unreasonable and hypocritical views, have very simplistic views on issues they seem to care deeply about such as race and federal politics, refuse to shower and take care of their bodies because they want to rebel against "the man", shoot up drugs flooded into the countries by cartels (aided by said "man"), have a lack of knowledge in basic economic theory and the political theories they generally tout (primarily anarchism, communism and socialism), and to top it all off many are actually upper-middle class kids rebelling against their parents by spending their trust funds on heroin, booze and bullshit while hopping freight trains around the country and refusing to shower. Fucking oogles, man.
They are truly scum, and make me a little bit ashamed of my association with punk rock music and culture. It's sad, considering that the basic premise behind punk rock embraces so many conservative, libertarian and anti-authoritarian ideals which people have continually shit on over the years to turn into some SJW politically correct crap.
Even though I don't agree with alot of the modern political views associated with punk rock, I still love the music to death. Going to see Leftover Crack in a month and a half, going to be a blast.
