I won't defend US 'cause it's not my job, but vietnamese had soviet AA and airforce and chinese small arms. Iraq was packed with soviet weaponry and was steamrolled in a couple weeks. We lost the Vietnam war when we did not nuke best Korea in the previous war. We were in our window of opportunity with the monopoly in nuclear delivery. Russia was still in the logistics phase of their nuclear program.

You don't use a military to defeat an insurgency, you use genocide. You take that entire culture that is born and bred and conditioned to hate you and you destroy it so completely that there isn't a son or daughter left to retaliate against you for ending their bloodline.

the way wars are fought now a days (like in the middle east) isn't to gain and control territory, because we eventually give it back to a proxy type leader that is put in power by the invading government. imagine if a country, like the united states or any other country, went in to an area are killed, not some politically correct war but straight up murdered and took of territory for their own desire.

Brother, we lost Vietnam when we didnt keep marching East after Berlin fell. Shortly after that, we had the nuke and nobody else did. We could have dropped more if we were in a total war with the communists after WW2. We blew our chances when we let stalin take over all of eastern europe and spread communism all over asia.
