The reason I hate reddit is because of the downvote and upvote system. If somebody has the "wrong" opinion it will be downvoted into oblivion where nobody can see it.
On 4chan we don't do that. Nobody gets banned or hidden for posting opinions that go agaisnt the grain.

Partially true. You only get site wide banned for something very egregious but subreddit specific bans are more common. They really are personal fiefdoms. Some allow almost unhindered speech, others quickly ban dissenters.
I use the r/oculus board because their CEO regularly posts there and it's really the best place for related discussion. The CEO has routinely lied and the board was rioting after more delays due to shitty product sourcing and giving preference to bundle buyers delaying shipments. Basically, the original kickstarters from years ago and the preorderers were getting their orders delays by months so someone who just bought a Rift + PC bundle would get it first. Then the CEO told people to deal with it and in turn got BTFO. Afterwards, mods started deleting and locking dissenting posts and threads plus added a rule banning "divisive" subjects.

For the most part I agree, but you do come across fanboy mods that get triggered easily, at least I've experienced that on /v/. My latest ban was making a thread critical of Dark Souls 3's collector's edition. And no, I wasn't posting "lol dark souls 3 sucks xD," I criticized the $130 price tag for a collector's edition with no physical copy of the game, a blank 100 page notepad, a digital (not even printed out) copy of a strategy guide, a 4 inch long cheap metal letter opener that often arrived bent and would break if you tried to straighten it, and an estus flask replica that was an unpainted green plastic blob you couldn't even open.
