My name is Medivh and I come to you bearing some terrible and sad news.
Across the veil between worlds, the Twisting Nether, lies a world called 'Draenor'.
This world is populated by a race of people known as the 'Orcs'. They are a gentle, noble and shamanistic race of tribal nomads and herders who have recently been plunged into a terrible war due to the actions of a few evil individuals amongst their leadership.
As a result of this conflct, Draenor is now almost uninhabitable. The land no longer bears life, what little water there is left is polluted and a famine the likes of which has never been seen before is ravaging them down to the last woman and child.
So I ask - please, search in your hearts for compassion - enough compassion for us to open a portal between our two worlds and let the Orcs be refugees upon Azeroth.
There is enough space for everyone.

Did they change the lore in WoW? I used to play Warcraft (and a little bit of vanilla wow too) when I was a kid and Medivh opened the portal because he was possessed by Sargeras, not to save the orcs.

I think there is a surge of anti-Orcism because at this point in time, Azeroth has not learnt to be truly multi-racial. And I think that Orcs are going to be at the forefront of this change.
Azeroth is not going to be the monolithic collection of kingdoms that it once was in the past. Orcs are going to be at the forefront of that.
It is a huge transformation for Azeroth to make, they will be going into multi-racial mode and the Orcs will be resented for maintaining a leading role in this.
