Trudeau Sr., a personal friend of Castro, was also a big fan of Marxism. He brought to the mainstream internationally the concept of multiculturalism and valuing "diversity", along with what has come to be known as "European Socialism". It started here. Sweden specifically was inspired by Canada to start down the path it's currently on, but the rest of Europe followed soon after. It hasn't affected us nearly as badly as Europe because we simply have much more room than them, outside Toronto and Vancouver you never have to see any culture you don't want to basically.
tl;dr, Pearson and Trudeau rank up there as among the worst non-genocidal world leaders in history, and "non-genocidal" is giving them a fair amount of credit.

"Canadian Culture" is something that is completely centered around Ontario, and everything east of it. Western Canada is its own identity. Specifically B.C. and Alberta.
I've traveled/lived in Ontario, Quebec, and in the Maritimes and I truly do see this "Canadian Culture" there. But not here in the west.
On the other hand, as a British Columbian, I see our own unique culture here. Even in Hongcouver.

No. The Chief lives a few houses down from me. I contemplated befriending him to see where he stands politically. He seems like a smart guy, he's not young like most Chiefs nowadays, He's an older fellow. My previous Chief was reactionary (He didn't support Western public education and instead supported tradition. Which is what we don't need as severely as better education.). Education is by far, the most desperately needed tool for students who go to school on-reserve. I think the difference in quality between reserve schools and non-reserve schools was that reserve schools taught subjects that were 1.5-2 years behind material taught in public schools. If you learned something in grade 6 at a reserve school, you learned it in grade 4-5 at a public school.

Natives could start businesses on any reserve for lowered taxes. Non-natives are not allowed to physically place their business on the reserve. All taxes go the band office for public services. Also the transparency thing is a must, and it is nothing but beneficial to reserves.
