Most of Africa is still in the early stages of this shift, so the population is booming.

Backpacked around Southern and Eastern Africa a few years ago. Want to do the same with West Africa in the next few years, since it's obvious on the ground there are a bazillion kids and no way any of them are ever going to be employed, so my thinking is visit while it's still reasonably safe and uncrowded with some animals left.
