It's happening but humans contribute fairly small to it. And even if humans were the major cause China and India are the primary polluters out there. So unless you deal with them you're just throwing pales of water on a house fire. It's not going to do that much.

Also Google neolithic climatic optimum, or Older Peron. Since the end of the ice age the world has been warmer and oceans HIGHER by at least 2m due to ta l the massive about of water dumped into the oceans before the sea beds had time to compact. That's a reason Polynesia exists. Coral grew above present sea levels and was exposed as they receded. Now it's returning to be refurbished

“The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now. At this late date nothing can prevent a substantial increase in the world death rate,” he said. He predicted four billion deaths, including 65 million Americans."

I'm being told that despite the consensus of 97 percent of scientists... this did not actually happen.

"By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people … If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000."

80s
June 30, 1989, Associated Press: U.N. OFFICIAL PREDICTS DISASTER, SAYS GREENHOUSE EFFECT COULD WIPE SOME NATIONS OFF MAP–entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels if global warming is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ‘eco-refugees,’ threatening political chaos,” said Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program. He added that governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect.

Sept 19, 1989, St. Louis Post-Dispatch: “New York will probably be like Florida 15 years from now.”

BADASS HOCKEY STICK MODEL POOP DICKS!

February 1993, Thomas E. Lovejoy, Smithsonian Institution: “Most of the great environmental struggles will be either won or lost in the 1990s and by the next century it will be too late.”

November 7, 1997, (BBC commentator): “It appears that we have a very good case for suggesting that the El Niños are going to become more frequent, and they’re going to become more intense and in a few years, or a decade or so, we’ll go into a permanent El Nino. So instead of having cool water periods for a year or two, we’ll have El Niño upon El Niño, and that will become the norm. And you’ll have an El Niño, that instead of lasting 18 months, lasts 18 years.”
July 26, 1999 The Birmingham Post: “Scientists are warning that some of the Himalayan glaciers could vanish within ten years because of global warming. A build-up of greenhouse gases is blamed for the meltdown, which could lead to drought and flooding in the region affecting millions of people.”
October 15, 1990 Carl Sagan: “The planet could face an ‘ecological and agricultural catastrophe’ by the next decade if global warming trends continue.”
Sept 11, 1999, The Guardian: “A report last week claimed that within a decade, the disease (malaria) will be common again on the Spanish coast. The effects of global warming are coming home to roost in the developed world.”

entropy of oceans - truly the least of the problems

most is absorbed into ocean, algea loves this part, trees say yum (pic related). heavy localization creates massive smog that is a health problem. the west doesnt have this problem anymore, we shipped it east with our jobs and economy. smog is mostly a china "problem", when their economy evaporates maybe they will have earned enough to clean their air and water.

RAD HOCKEY STICK MODEL HOMOSEXUALS!

March 20, 2000, from The Independent, According to Dr David Viner of the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit, snowfall in Britain would become “a very rare and exciting event” and “children just aren’t going to know what snow is.”

September 2006, Arnold Schwarzenegger signing California’s anti-emissions law, “We simply must do everything in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late…The science is clear. The global warming debate is over.”

“With the pace of global warming increasing, some climate change experts predict that the Scottish ski industry will cease to exist within 20 years.”
Guardian, 14 February 2004

“Although the magnitude of the trends shows large variation among different models, Miller et al. (2006) find that none of the 14 models exhibits a trend towards a lower NAM index and higher arctic SLP.”
IPCC 2007 4AR, (quoted by Georg Hoffmann)

“Based on the rising temperature, less snow will be expected regionally. While currently 1/3 of the precipitation in the Alps falls as snow, the snow-share of precipitation by the end of the century could end up being just one sixth.”
Germanwatch, Page 7, Feb 2007

The problem with the absorption of CO2 into the oceans is that it increases the acidity of the water.
We are already seeing the effects of this on shelled animals and coral. If those go, then either entire ocean ecosystems disappear or are severely damaged for millions of years.
Plus the ocean can only buffer the rise of CO2 for so long. Eventually it will reach a max and will return to filling up the atmosphere.

The ocean life forms back in the Paleozoic were adapted and fit for those CO2 levels. Really, if this change in acidity was more gradual, it wouldn't even be a concern. What's worrying is the rate at which the change is happening. This is a change in pH that usually occurs over millions of years, but it's happening in a couple centuries. Crustaceans and the like are having a very tough time trying to cope with this change.
Now of course, this doesn't mean the sky is falling. Human civilization would probably still carry on like nothing happened if ocean life took a big hit. (But if bees go away, then that's a different, but unrelated, story)

Climate change has always been occurring. The only reason it's such an issue, is so big companies who are in bed together can register a multitude of companies, while the population levies stipulations that only big companies can afford, thus securing a market for themselves.

Pollution in general is bad for the environment, but commercialize, developed societies are dependent upon feeling good when they ferry bitumen and aggregates across the country for their roadways so the can drive their cars to a mac store to get the new phone they absolutely need.

Maybe if politicians actually cared about the climate, you'd think they'd spend a month or so on a sail boat instead of a few hours on a jet.

So no, if they want to sell me on climate change, they should spend money on producing a 20 hour long video series outlying the mathematical certainties relating to the various fields including; meteorology, geology, thermodynamics, and astrophysics. This is because you will find other trends being correlated to the variation of earth's climate.

They aren't scare tactics, they are just patterns we observe in paleontology and paleoclimatology.
I could've worded my post better so it didn't sound like sensationalism, but pH is still an important factor of ocean health. Acidity works as a logarithmic function so the change of say, 0.5 pH is actually pretty significant. (Ex: Difference between 7 and 6 on the pH scale is multiplied by 10) But this doesn't mean the world is ending or whatever. The way to mitigate these effects certainly isn't by handicapping the lives of Americans, so I agree with you there. Places like China and India are the true culprits.

So far the the climate models developed over that last 30 years have grossly overstated the warming to a ridiculous degree.
Hansen's 1988 forecasts showed 3.1 C per century warming with an absolute minimum of 2.8C.
Observed warming is 0.8C, 1.0C, or even the most biased surface readings show 1.6C half of what Hansen claimed.

Why should we have any faith in the people who have been wrong for 30 years and yet claim that their new model is perfectly accurate so trust them doom is coming?

Yes. The graph demonstrates it. Look at 1820. Contrary to propaganda, only about 4% of atmospheric CO2 is anthropogenic. The "lifetime" of CO2 is about 5 years. Not the ridiculous 100, 1000, 6000 years or whatever that we are supposed to believe. See, for example, Murray (1992) or Peng et al. (1983). The short-term lifetime of CO2 was well established but became taboo because of the IPCC. Murry Salby, for example, an excellent Atmospheric scientist lost his job for committing that thought-crime.

And not like we can dictate to China and India what to do, with 2+billion people, I know, fuck oil and Arabs but until they start running out it isn't (usually) economical to do much else

I heard about something like this except of silos it was caves underwater and underground and that they were going to grow special moss and sea urchin to absorb the carbon dioxide but they died too quickly from the overexposure
I'm curious if corn silage can survive underground without sunlight since photosynthesis is the way that plants use up carbon dioxide

No doubt I'll shortly be banned again for posting that. Funny how a little inconvenient truth can be as bad as CP and guro.

It's not supposed to survive, it's supposed to be contained in such a way that the surface area isn't sufficient for the outgas from its decay to return significant amounts of carbon to the atmosphere.

Pretty sure my iron fertilization was better

Corn stover sound good there but the machinery to handle/bury it would guzzle lots of fuel. What currently happens to it? Is most fed to cattle or plowed under or burned? Bovine manure fixes carbon nicely, bison build the soil of the midwest with 7000 years of eating and shitting prairie grass (mollisols) BUT the corn is grown with huge amounts of FH inputs. Might as well turn the cornfields into native pasture and turn the cows out on it.

India and China are ironically on the forefront of thorium technology India wants at least 25% of its energy to be nuclear powered by 2025 and even China has started to realize how bad they fucked up having to create a level above code red for the environmental disasters in the country and are trying to clean their shit up, but Indians and Chinese aren't good at science at least not as good as America I think if we put our weight behind thorium we'll get that shit down in 2025 because once we have clean efficient energy we're golden just start converting the CO2 in the air into fuel, its currently unfeasible since it requires more energy in than out but with better energy that won't be a problem

Climate change is real but it's not the government's job to intervene.

Heard thorium mentioned before. Haven't read into it much but I still like the sound of relatively conventional. Solar updraft towers? Using solar concentrators directly for industry instead of turning heat into elec and then back to heat, making things more efficient and reducing energy needs instead of worrying about meeting a huge demand of green energy. Sooner or later it will prove economical to do so, apparently China and India are realizing this
