Knowing the democrats, in this scenario they would not be above crying about unfairness and the mean republicans and take to the streets to try and halt or postpone the election by any means necessary. Obama could easily give a executive order to postpone the election because we were in a "crisis". His executive order would stand until the courts could slap it down, which would be at least a month, maybe a year. All this time bought would give more time to establish martial law and grab guns.
