Who should I vote for?

What are the major party platforms, I don't know shit.
>>
>>79148049
That's what the compass is for. Basically, as always, the Libs are basically prioritising a stronger economy and slightly more anti-international policies.

My friend is voting for the Pirate Party because they advocate for better internet and easier piracy: https://pirateparty.org.au/
They're also advocating for the protection of digital copyrights which are important to me as I'm a writer myself. As you might be aware, Australia has recently been trying to make it harder for writers in Australia to sell their books in certain markets. The Australian Society of Authors has recently been vying for a HUGE campaign to not let that bill pass.

Then again, overall, Labor will win this time because the Libs released that stupid tradie commercial which made all the tradie voters (and their dumbfuck hick girlfriends) want to vote Labor instead.
>>
>>79148261
Filling it in now.

Personally I'm selfish and just want to be able to continue earning a good salary and purchasing investment properties.
>>
Which party is most likely to work with Britain to fuck the EU in the ass?
>>
>>79148570
I should also mention that Labor party is advocating for better internet/NBN if that's what you're after.

>labor will win

Last I saw liberals were polling higher. Plus that tradie commercial shit was manufactured controversy, they're just trying to deflect from the fact that 90% of people tradie or otherwise want to buy and own property at some point in their life and labor fucked up hard with their negative gearing changes as far as people's dreams are concerned.
>>
I learned about austrialian political parties at least
>>
Can someone explain economic right vs left?
>>
>>79152482
In a nutshell:
Left: Government intervention
Right: Laissez Faire

Of course there's much more to it than that, but this is about as simple a summary as possible.
>>
>>79153144
What are the pros and cons of each?

So right has the con of leading to monopolies and left has the con of restricting the every day man?
>>
>>79153233
I'm not an economist or have studied it much, but basically yeah. Absolute right economies may lead to outsourcing, monopolies, and so forth; but allows for freedom and private enterprise. Absolute left economies may lead to the bureaucracy getting in the way of enterprise, high taxes, dem programs, and so forth; it can also be protectionist and protect the rights/jobs of those relevant.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere.
>>
>>79153233
>what are the pros and cons of each
That's a long and intense debate but in a nutshell, right economic policies are almost always for the sake of economic growth for the country as a whole. Left economic policies are more for "the working class".

That being said, it doesn't matter what you vote. Australia has always and will always have the best economists in the world. You shouldn't vote too much based on what you think will be better for the economy. Not in this country anyway.
>>
>>79148261
Labor won't win.

>>79151780
Tradie here can confirm, anyone trying to fuck with my negative gearing can fuck off and nearly every tradie I know has multiple properties.

absolute right doesn't lead to outsourcing, it makes your country a big company magnet as it becomes more a tax haven. Due to low taxation, companies will theoretically be able to employ more people, so less jobs outsourced.

The rest of what you said is fairly correct though.

A regional doctor who founded the Australian Anti-Paedophile Party is being sued by a man who claims he has been falsely branded a paedophile.

William Russell Massingham Pridgeon, a Grafton GP, set up the political party last year and wrote on its website he had turned to politics as a last resort after trying desperately to protect his (((wife's son))) from what he claims is his biological father's paedophilia.

The right tends to ignore the issue of market failure; i.e., the fact that in some industries, such as healthcare, education, utilities (natural monopolies), fuel use and power generation (negative externality associated with greenhouse gas emissions), normal market outcomes lead to an outcome that is not Pareto efficient; a better social outcome is possible. The right does this for two reasons; the first practical- just because the market can't deliver a particular good or service, doesn't necessarily mean the government can step in and do a better job (government failure), the second ideological; the right generally is more libertarian, believing that ambitious entrepreneurs should be able to invest their money as they see fit without government oversight.
The left tends to ignore issues of political or government failure and will argue for government intervention in the economy to correct market failure. There is the obvious practical reasons, free markets in healthcare and education lead to wildly inefficient outcomes due to systemic market failure in those industries, but there is also an ideological argument regarding inequality of wealth in society; in general, the right doesn't care about inequality, or at least, thinks it's less important than freedom.

In general, it's really difficult to discern which one is better, all the easy questions have been answered. The left would never argue for the government controlled production of agricultural food stuffs, because it is so abundantly clear that the right is correct on that issue, free market is the way to go. The right would never argue for a free market in military defense, as it's so clearly better done by governments. That's your job as a voter to decide, we can't do that for you. My politics are generally right wing, but the choice that is right for you won't be right for me.
