If you really go for it, not that hard I think. They have very few allies and whether or not China would step in for them is a matter of debate. I don't think China cares about them enough to risk a world war if they step in.
North Korea has a very large standing army that's probably very disciplined. But their equipment is also very outdated and they wouldn't last long vs. a U.S assault for example.
Basically it all depends on whether China comes in and defends NK which I don't think they will at this point.

At this point I don't even think S. Korea wants to be unified with them.
They have the economic and literacy standards of an African country. It would be a massive burden on the South. East Germany is still significantly less developed and dependant on the federal government than the West, and they were separated for less time and with smaller differences than Korea. After so many years of starvation and shortages even their IQ capacity have probably dropped and they're a different people altogether.

It would be very hard at this point after all this time. That's not even counting the war which is always a net loss. Just the civilians and culture even if done peacefully would be a net drag and possible huge failure. South Korea can't afford it and the USA sure as hell can't afford it. It would be easier to build a wall around them and starve them out than to integrate them in some form.

They announced it several times, and earthquakes have been detected at their launch sites. There's really no reason to doubt it.
We also know that they have the technology to put stuff in orbit since they did it and we observed their satellite. They are only the 11th country in History to achieve this, by the way.
