Is he actually a cult leader like some have claimed? What's the truth behind that?
>>
>>76316998
He has no hair
>>
>>76316998
No, people used to criticize Socrates in the same way and eventually gave him the hemlock. They said he was corrupting the youth and that he had to go and die instead.

So people calling Stefan a cult leader is not surprising when he uses the same methods as Socrates and his inquiries lead to unorthodox ideals. People don't like having their preconceived notions challenged, many philosophers have died this way. But if you simply watch his videos you can see he is rational and reasonable. He always has sources for his information, it really is nothing like a cult.
>>
>>76316998
He is the next Fuhrer.
>>
>>76316998
how is he a cult leader in any way? he doesn't even want people to do anything, normally a cult leader basically hypnotizes or seduces people, and then moves forward with some other thing after corralling

dude just talks on a radio show and youtube, occasionally asks for donations

Maybe Stefan Molyneux cannot be compared to Socrates, however I think the audience of Stefan Molyneux can be compared to the audience of Socrates. Both act irrationally in the face of unorthodox ideas. Both would rather discredit the philosopher than to actually address what the philosopher is saying.

Socrates didn't go around telling men that they're all poor victims and that the world has wronged them and needs to apologize. The way Stefan approaches his topics is akin to religious evangelism (i.e: here's a problem you didn't know you have and here is how my philosophy can fix said problem).

I would respect him more and compare him to Socrates if he gave the same tenacious questioning to all of the people that share his worldview, playing devils advocate to show that they actually have logic to back up their arguments.

Not an argument.
>>
>>76319805

I think any honest person who listens to Stefan Molyneux will admit he has some problem on a personal level. Stefan Molyneux seems to moved away from most of his vices. It seems the only videos that shows his vices are his predominantly philosophy videos and call-ins. His videos such as "The Truth About" series are generally based on facts rather than philosophy. If there is any philosophy, it's at the end summarizing the material and giving an analysis. Take the good and leave the DeFoo.
>>
>>76319805
>Stefan Molyneux admits to being jewish
So?
>Stefan Molyneux runs a cult where he convinces vulnerable people who had a decent childhood that they were abused by their parents
She outright lies about his arguments.
>Here's what happens when you give Stefan Molyneux money but not as much money as he wants
Oh, no, he shames me for being a moocher, what a cult leader!
>Stefan Molyneux Claims 'No War from 1815-1914 in Western Europe'
Yeah, well, his point is still somewhat valid, there was relative peace during that time. Nobody is infallible, though.
>Stefan Molyneux and defoo, defined (ignore the libertarian claptrap)
fdrliberated? Not going to bother with this video, but everything I ever saw from that site was pure sophistry. Not an argument, admittedly.
>Stefan Molyneux: "Fuck physics, make iPhones."
No, actually "fuck living off stolen money, do something that people actually are willing to pay for".
>Stefan Molyneux: "Nothing I say is original"
Well, he contributes an amalgamation of a lot of disciplines, but I would definitely say that people should read other philosophers, too.
>Stefan Molyneux tells followers to cut off all family that disagrees with his ideology
PhilosophyLines is a sophist who only ever attacks strawman versions of the object of his obsession. Funnily, if Molyneux made the same argument about defooing race-mixing family members, the white nationalists would probably agree wholeheartedly. "If your sister gets impregnated by Tyrone, ends as a single-mother and asks for handouts, she wants you enslaved or shot".
>Stefan Molyneux believes the world needs his show for its survival
He is a bit full of himself, but do you really disagree that the masses need someone who brings wisdom to them?
>Stefan Molyneux forgives his mother by not killing her
I don't get the people who fail to understand this.
>Stefan Molyneux initiates force, proving all of his moral arguments invalid
Pure sophistry, even the title is just a fallacy.

I think he has chosen to position himself as a republican in the Radio Market. He is much more based that a "Glenn Beck" that pulls on your emotions and heart strings with propaganda type programing.

- But I would image him like a professor of history in describing him to someone

Michael Hoffman videos describe some history of white slavery which matches up well with Stefan Molyneux video. Check it out.
>>
>>76321999
He himself goes into his own problems on a personal level. And also he extrapolates all the details of an abusive or neglectful home and the impacts on the child. Some people have said that this is a cult to get young men disassociated with their parents. First of all, that is not an argument. Calling someone a cult leader is not an argument in the same way that the mob saying that Socrates was "corrupting the youth" is not an argument. Second of all, you are assuming that young men disassociating with their parents is a bad thing, in the same way that a battered wife goes back to her husband is a bad thing right? Of course that is not wrong, if your parents were going to the club instead of raising you, if your parents were concerned with themselves and not you, if your parents didn't feed or give you clothing, if your mother divorced your father with no consideration of the effects on you, of course you should not have a good relationship with them.

The problem with Stefan Molyneux is that he extends disassociating with family beyond child abuse. He actually says that if any family or friends would initiate force on them through the state (e.g., taxation) then his listeners should DeFood from them. See the following video. There is no other way to interpret it.

It had to do with what he was preaching a couple of years ago. He was somewhere between a libertarian and a socialist. His politics were sort of entry-level and the advice he gave for developing and maintaining your relationships was just outright insane.

He talked a lot about how much he hates regulation and The Stateā„¢, and a lot about how he hated his single mother for spanking him. He advised a lot of people to just throw away their families and any friends who were not willing to change their beliefs. He made a lot of Rand Paul-esque comparisons with government-funded violence and police action and blamed normies for allowing it to happen, advising all followers to cut ties with everyone except for other "enlightened" folk.

It was really weird and even though he never said it, his advice made him sound really edgy and like a cult leader. He was not actually a cult leader. He's calmed down a lot as he has observed the political world more, but he is still prone to sweeping generalizations that compare almost everything to child abuse and gun violence.

He usually sounds more like a typical professor or activist nowadays, but before he did a very poor job of explaining himself and came off as a weird terrorist. His core ideas have not changed but he emphasizes realpolitik much more than he used to.
