Madame Hohlakov: “How – how can I get back my faith?…How can I prove it? How can I convince myself?”
Father Zossima: “But there’s no proving it, though you can be convinced of it.”
Madame Hohlakov: “How?”
Father Zossima: “By the experience of active love. Strive to love your neighbor actively and indefatigably. In as far as you advance in love you will grow surer of the reality of God and of the immortality of your soul. If you attain to perfect self-forgetfulness in the love of your neighbor, then you will believe without doubt, and no doubt can possibly enter your soul. This has been tried. This is certain.”

What does a catholic do about the pope? About everything? Can i remain catholic if i dont believe in the popes/eucharist/vatican... i've only just come to understand the importance of nationalism and cultural conservation and was about to completely immerse myself, but now i realize the catholic church is really just a bunch of okey-doke

1. Would I need to defer to the pope for moral authority?
2. I read that I won't need to confess to sins I have already committed if I get baptized. Is this true?

You must believe in the dogma of the Church. The Pope, the eucharist are part of this. You can disagree with what the Pope says 99.99% of the time, unless he is speaking ex-cathedra.

>1. Would I need to defer to the pope for moral authority?
No, you need to defer to the doctrine of the Church for that, to the deposit of the Faith as preserved by the Magisterium.
You have no obligation to agree with the pope unless he is speaking ex-cathedra, which is a rare occurrence anyway. For instance, Pope Francis has never done that yet.
>2. I read that I won't need to confess to sins I have already committed if I get baptized. Is this true?
I think that if you confess your sins are washed away and that you only have to confess those that you commit after you have been baptised. You should ask a priest to be 100% sure, though.

How can I go on?
When our church is subverted, when degeneracy runs rampant through our streets daily? What could I possibly do to stand against such reckless destruction beyond praying? I feel that no matter how hard we try, we are merely a dam holding back the flood, and when we die the water will rush forth.
I pray so hard, brothers, but every day it just gets worse. When will God save us? When will the Lord liberate us from these shackles? I hope it is soon.

Salvation is achieved through knowledge.

1. If you seek salvation, Christians will give you advice. This advice comes in the form of words that convey information, i.e. knowledge.

2. When navigating a desert, your knowledge of how to read a map is the difference between your death and your survival.

3. Ask and ye shall receive.

You need not restrain yourself from the many pleasures of this world in order to get into the next. Ignoring your animal nature means you learn nothing from it. We must all feel the pain of excess in order to crave the peace of the Light. In order to know virtue, one must first acquaint himself with vice - only then can we know the full measure of man. Why are you here if not to make mistakes and learn from them?

Sure, you can seek salvation and never find it. I'm not disputing that. If it were enough to simply want salvation, then why are so few people saved? You must know the way, and knowing is knowledge. Gnosticism is the narrow path, which is why I don't expect you to know about it.

Yes it is.
P1) If you seek salvation, Christians will give you advice.

This is contradicted by the following.

S)Someone seeks salvation, and no Christian gives them advice.

P1 is invalid if S is possible. S is possible. Therefore P1 is invalid.

Anon, you must understand that when Jesus died on the cross he took on all the sins of the world. This is portrayed as a box by the Luciferian media, ancient masons and other gnostics.. as several other things as well but the point is that Christ has already defeated sin and the anti-christ hasn't been born yet to counter it, although they are trying.

Have no fear!

https://youtu.be/5dErUvgEAU0
>>
>>76034503
Oh, I see. We're nit-picking.

>If you seek salvation, Christians may give you advice.

Fixed.

Still doesn't change the fact that Gnosis is the only way to salvation.
>>
>>76034718
If gnosis were required for salvation no one could be saved, since no one can have gnosis in regard to anything but "there are thoughts" as it seems to stand.
>>
>>76034718
That is a sufficient fix though. No longer invalid.
>>
>>76034503
That can only be true within a specific time-frame though.
>>
>>76034811
>no one can have gnosis in regard to anything but "there are thoughts"
>If gnosis were required for salvation no one could be saved

Do you know either of these things?
>>
>>76035016
Only a not-0 time frame. Any t1 to t2 is fine. You could also just be an asshole and not assume different time states between obviously time-dependent premises and conclusions and make them specify that, but I think that's fairly needless.
>>
>>76035203
I know the only thing I think I know is "there are thoughts". If you can introduce me to something else I'd be delighted.
>>
>>76035273
Sorry, English is my second language so I only got about 2/3's of that.

I meant if you spend enough time looking for salvation, you can find it.
>>
>>76035455
I'd like to believe that but I don't know that it's true.
You could look for salvation and someone could shoot you a moment later, not giving you that "enough time". Or someone could search their whole lives and never find it, even if it was in front of their face the whole time.
>>
>>76033977
THERE IT IS

Gnosticism is an inverted bible. It is about self-ascention, which correlates to egocentricism or narcissism essentially. It is the shared ideology of such schools of thought teaching critical theory (Frankfurt school), Anton LaVey's satanism, masonic fraternities, atheists, new agers, the illuminati and their satanic practices, the romans with their sacrificial pagan rituals and so many others. By Christian standards all of this self-ascention stuff turns out to be Luciferian in nature and is pushed harder than the bible to the masses every single day. Ultimately they are working towards a common goal whether they realize it or not. Of course, you wouldn't know you are supporting evil incarnate. This is how the Devil tricks you. He does not appear evil or wicked at first.
>>
>>76035324
If you don't know that no one can achieve Gnosis, then you have not defeated my argument. If you claim to know that, then you have defeated your argument.
>>
>>76035736
You don't know that someone *can* achieve gnosis. In fact, you're claiming someone can despite lacking even a conceptual framework for how they might.

1. Define "I"
2. - this is an invalid premise, since existence does not necessitate experience
3. - double invalid, carrying the invalidity of 2 as well as the fact that being able to experience does not necessitate the ability to learn
4. - triple invalid, carrying the previous invalidities as well as the fact that being able to learn does not necessitate the ability to know
5. - carries previous invalidities, but isn't wrong depending on how you qualify "reality"
6. - carries all previous invalidities, in conjunction with the fact that there's not necessarily anyone else *THERE* to know which may be troubling

Have fun~

Yeah, you're excited for the anti-christ. Do you understand its physical manifestation or are you just an edgy little lord? Your pic describes the entire process. The bible describes it. Plain and simple: Gnosticism is globalism. It's communism. Like Jesus says... I came not for peace. "Peace of earth" is a terrible abomination born of these very ideas. The bible teaches about the essential roles of a man and a woman for example, but gnostics want to create androgynes out of everyone. It is the agenda. Fools like you cling to the ridiculous idea that when the anti-christ comes HE will somehow spare your mortal life. Get back to indulging in mass media and new age shit because you're no better than the average hippie.

You know how disturbing that practice is ? You literally pretend you're eating Christ's flesh. He meant it a symbolic way.

You're just doing a bizarre pagan ritual with a name change. Just like your Mary, which you call the "queen of heaven". The bible mentions a person who was called that way:

Jeremiah 7:18 "The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger."

Not even mentioning Christmas and Easter and the pagan connections from Rome. Do you even know that your "church" took the statue of Jupiter and renamed it to St.Peter ?

(1 John 5:20) But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.

(John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.

Anyone wanting to bring us into a "New Eden" is either delusional or deliberately invoking the anti-christ. Mortal humans are bound to the flesh, bound to sin the moment they are born, will never achieve immortality and are not able to judge themselves on earth (satan's domain). Christ has already died for our sins here on earth because we ARE sinful by nature. These are secret society-tier lies.

so what does that mean to you personally? would our respective God-given individual natures not have us describe God in different ways, fragmenting the idea of God? Surely we can discern the idea of God verses God Himself, so how can one "know"? Would this not simply make for a nationalism of consciousness? How can God be precisely articulated using human language?

what man knows God?

>“The impression could arise that the Trinitarian dogma is in the last analysis a late 4th-century invention. In a sense, this is true . . . The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Volume 14, page 299.

>“There is the recognition on the part of exegetes and Biblical theologians, including a constantly growing number of Roman Catholics, that one should not speak of Trinitarianism in the New Testament without serious qualification. There is also the closely parallel recognition on the part of historians of dogma and systematic theologians that when one does speak of an unqualified Trinitarianism, one has moved from the period of Christian origins to, say, the last quadrant of the 4th century.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. XIV, p. 295.

>“The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”— The New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299

>“The trinity of persons within the unity of nature is defined in terms of ‘person’ and ‘nature’ which are Greek philosophical terms; actually the terms do not appear in the Bible. The trinitarian definitions arose as the result of long controversies in which these terms and others such as ‘essence’ and ‘substance’ were erroneously applied to God by some theologians.”—John L. The concept of "god" is not reserved neither for Jesus nor Jehovah God. Many would have you believe that "god" outside Jesus and Jehovah is always a false god. No, this is a false dilemma.

The Bible teaches that anything with mighty god-like power OR divine authority OR both is "god."

Why is Jesus mighty God? Jesus explained this himself.

>(John 10:34-38) Jesus answered them: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said: “YOU are gods”’? 35If he called ‘gods’ those against whom the word of God came, and yet the Scripture cannot be nullified, 36do YOU say to me whom the Father sanctified and dispatched into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, I am God’s Son?

Jesus is referring to these "gods."

>(Psalm 82:6) “I myself have said, ‘YOU are gods, And all of YOU are sons of the Most High.

>(Exodus 7:1, 2) Consequently Jehovah said to Moses: “See, I have made you God to Phar′aoh, and Aaron your own brother will become your prophet. 2You—you will speak all that I shall command you; and Aaron your brother will do the speaking to Phar′aoh, and he must send the sons of Israel away from his land.

>(Exodus 4:16) And he must speak for you to the people; and it must occur that he will serve as a mouth to you, and you will serve as God to him.

These up above is the Judges from the books "Judges" and Moses up above. According to the OT and Jesus they are titled "gods." That's why Jesus is a Mighty God. He is just as much of a god as Moses and Judges are. Jesus himself confirmed it up above.

The Prophecies of Isaiah are extremely literal.

When Isaiah writes that he shall be called "Mighty God" and "Prince of Peace" he's not saying that they will wrongly call him that.

Furthermore, if Jesus was not God, he would have stopped his disciples from worshiping him.

As Paul did when someone tried to worship him.

Matthew 28:9

Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.

>The Prophecies of Isaiah are extremely literal.
>When Isaiah writes that he shall be called "Mighty God" and "Prince of Peace" he's not saying that they will wrongly call him that.

I agree, however the concept of Jesus being a God like Moses and the Judges doesn't stop there. It goes farther. Jesus is also NATURALLY a god. This is supported here.

Angels are gods

>(Psalm 8:5) You also proceeded to make him a little less than godlike ones, And with glory and splendor you then crowned him.

>(Hebrews 2:7) You made him a little lower than angels; with glory and honor you crowned him, and appointed him over the works of your hands.

Demons are gods/deities

>The word demon is Greek for Daimonion. It means "deity" in Greek. The Greeks called their "Gods" Theos. They believed that those Theos had children, inferior gods not worthy of worship. They called those inferior gods "daimonians." Paul adopted that word and coined it to mean wicked angels. So when we call wicked angels "demons" we are really saying deities. That is what Paul wanted us to think, that wicked angels are deities. Inferior gods not worthy of worship.

Satan is a god

>(2 Corinthians 4:4) among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.

This is why Jehovah is the God of gods

>(Deuteronomy 10:17) For Jehovah YOUR God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the God great, mighty and fear-inspiring, who treats none with partiality nor accepts a bribe,

>(Psalm 82:1) God is stationing himself in the assembly of the Divine One; In the middle of the gods he judges:

>(Psalm 136:2) Give thanks to the God of the gods: For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite;

That's why Jesus is a MIGHTY God literally and figuratively. In heaven, he is a god like angels and demons. On earth like Moses and judges.

That's ridiculous

There are no gods but God. If a Holy Prophet says "God" then he is talking, quite literally about God.

and the WORD BECAME FLESH.

>still think he was an influential prophet for God and important nonetheless.

You're taking the first steps and if you are seeing God with all your heart and soul then God will not abandon you, he will guide you.

That's spiritual law. The law of God is that anyone who seeks him truly WILL find him.

As for understanding that Jesus was the Christ, you first have to understand the nature of sin itself, and the law of redemption which Jesus brought about on the cross.

You're doing pretty good so far. You atleast acknowledge the obvious creation around you. Unlike certain people:

>(Psalm 14:1) The senseless one has said in his heart: “There is no Jehovah.”

>(Psalm 10:4) The wicked one according to his superciliousness makes no search; All his ideas are: “There is no God.”

So why the doubt? What prevents you from knowing God and coming to a relationship with him?

The Bible acknowledges the existence of other gods who are not the Almighty God himself. That's why the Bible once again says this:

>(1 Corinthians 8:5, 6) For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.

The Bible teaches that there are many gods. In verse 5 above it mentions "whether in heaven" which means there are those who are called "gods" in heaven. Since there can be no false gods in heaven this leaves only one conclusion. That Jesus, the Angels, Demons and Satan are those gods.

>>John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

I want you to look at this link of over 70 Bible translations.

Besides the New World Translation, all these non-JW Bibles translate John 1:1 as "a god," "the word was divine," "the word was godlike."

Why all the "blasphemy"? Because the original Koine Greek language was like that.

This is the Koine Greek original
>kαὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος

This is the hyper-literal translation
>kai the·os′ en ho lo′gos

This is the translation
>kai(AND) the·os′(GOD) en(WAS) ho(THE) lo′gos(WORD).

What you need to understand is two things. First, Koine Greek had no lowercase words. It was all capital as seen above. Second, Koine Greek has only the definite article(the) but no indefinite articles(a/an).

So how does one tell the difference between God and god? Because God in the Greek Scriptures is always ho'theos(THE GOD) and any generic god is always theos. In John 1:1 Jehovah is translated in the same verse with Jesus as ho'theos(THE GOD) while Jesus is just theos(GOD.)

It's not words of prophecy and encouragement for Peter to go out and minister. Not at all. Heaven forbid Christ meant that - it would undermine everything you believe.

>Not sure, I can't say if it's being hesitant to, or that if I do devote myself--I will be let down in some way.

Doubt and disappointment. This is to be expected. Even God's greatest servants experienced this.

>(Proverbs 13:12) Expectation postponed is making the heart sick,[...]

>(Psalm 69:3) I have become tired by my calling out; My throat has become hoarse. My eyes have failed while waiting for my God.

>(Psalm 22:2) O my God, I keep calling by day, and you do not answer;[...]

This is what you need to do. You need to meditate and ask yourself why do you want to know God? What are you expecting? What would you like your Goals to be?

If you are going in for miraculous cures, for money, for girls, pleasures, you will be in for disappointment. You want that, go to the devils world outside. There you will find your empty hedonism.

This is what you need to keep in mind:

>(1 Corinthians 2:14, 15) But a physical man does not receive the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot get to know [them], because they are examined spiritually. 15However, the spiritual man examines indeed all things, but he himself is not examined by any man.

This is why athiest will never come to know God. They focus on the physical while focusing on God is about the spiritual.

There is nothing reasonable in your interpretation, it is a child or rebellion, individualism, pride in your ability to understand the Words of our Lord even though you are a 2016 NEET.

That's exactly true. But it was Peter who Jesus said was the foundation for the Church

"Upon this rock I will build my church"

He was re-named Peter because the name Peter means "Rock or Foundation"

Peter went and set up Bishops in Antioch and Alexandria, and then he went to Rome.

and when he died those Bishops elected a new leader.

and because of Peter, Christianity flourished and spread all across Europe.

Until you realize that Apostolic succession is true.

Because since Peter has the authority as the foundation of the Church, then the Bishops he appointed would therefore also be legitimate, and any successor they elect would also have this same legitimacy.

Apostolic Succession is Biblical as well.

Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us, beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”
So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

I actually recommend having her watch this pic related movie with you.

If she's smart at all she'll see the implications and it'll make her more curious about God.

The Catholic Church and Orthodox Church are the ones that have apostolic succession (and a couple others that I won't mention because I feel lazy). They had a schism based 99% on politics rather than theology in 1054. In the 1500s Luther went full retard and so Protestantism was born. Protestants don't have apostolic succession, that is, their ministers are not appointed by past ones and date back all the way to the Apostles. From them you can see thousands of denominations growing because, not having a tradition to interpret Scripture the right way, they all come with their own interpretation.

Whatever plans you have for yourself are meaningless.

(Matthew 6:27) Who of YOU by being anxious can add one cubit to his life span?

It won't accumulate into anything. You will still grow old and die. All that you can accomplish will be taken away from you by someone who didn't deserve it.

>(Luke 12:15) Then he said to them: “Keep YOUR eyes open and guard against every sort of covetousness, because even when a person has an abundance his life does not result from the things he possesses.

>(1 Timothy 6:7) For we have brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out.

>(Job 1:21) and say: “Naked I came out of my mother’s belly, And naked shall I return there. Jehovah himself has given, and Jehovah himself has taken away. Let the name of Jehovah continue to be blessed.”

Because though the Apostles were flawed men, they were also the Founders of the Church who brought all of Europa to Christianity.

"Whatever you bind in heaven" this is something that is true, and since Peter is the rock upon which the Church is built, the Apostles have much legitimacy in what they did.

Which is why it is chronicled in the Bible for everyone to read in the first place.

Because if what you are saying is true, then Matthias is not an Apostle even though the scriptures say he is.

But folks in AA are still degenerates. They literally choose whatever gods they want and go with it. And besides being sober they are just as bad as anyone else.

I came back to Christ because I saw that Christians are the only ones that do real good in this world. and that if we were to follow the bible the world really would work forever. This is unlike any other governing system, which all eventually crumble.

>Because though the Apostles were flawed men, they were also the Founders of the Church who brought all of Europa to Christianity
Yes, I believe that's probably true.

>the Apostles have much legitimacy in what they did
I think anyone who ministers for Christ is legitimate in doing so. I don't see a reason to think just because people were among the first to do so that they're uniquely special outside that happenstance of chronological fact. They're chronicled in the Bible because they/the people after them were the ones who put it together, and including a bit of history isn't a *bad* idea. I don't object to any books in the Bible being there. I'm just not obligated to take men as seriously as I take God. I *WON'T* do that - it would be blasphemous to do so. They're not worthy of such, nor is any man.

Any person who is saved in Christ is an apostle of Christ - we're just not speaking about the "original" apostles in that acknowledgment. So I'm not denying any Christian is an apostle, I'm objecting to the practices of men being laid down as if they were the law of God. I find it absolutely hackle-raising that people find that acceptable.

I have to go to bed here though - you can find me in another thread some time if you'd like.
Peace.

Because Christ was reasonable and practical. All the others are either extreme, animals, or lunatics. Lets not get started on the Rabbis, Muhammed was a pedophile and warlord, Buddha was pretty spiritual, peaceful, but rejected the pleasures of life as "evil."

Jesus enjoyed nice things like wine, parties, and get-togethers. He enjoyed hiking and good food. He didn't reject a lady from pour expensive perfume on his feet, a luxury back then.

Jesus is the most practical example of all time. Nobody could ever measure up to him.

The New World Translation. The most accurate to the original languages as possible and the least bias. It is published by Jehovah's Witnesses. It sticks to the original languages while abandoning Bible translation. This is very good. It is also a study Bible with references to relating verses that help explaing other verses. It is available from Jehovah's Witnesses and also as an app on your smartphone as JW Library. It is also available on line as well.

>>Replace "God" or "The Lord" with "Jehovah" in every sentence.

Translation over Tradition. The original manuscripts of Hebrew, especially the Dead Sea Scrolls, all use the Hebrew Tetragrammaton as God's name. Not "Lord" or "LORD." Old fragments of the Septuagint(Greek translation of the OT/NT) show God's name wherever a speaker quoted the OT verse that had God's name in it.

It was the KJV TRADITION to replace God's name with Lord. Not Bible accuracy.

You want ACCURATE knowledge go to the NWT. You want TRADITION go to the KJV.
