Gen-X was stereotyped as a "rebellious" generation that would overturn the Boomer way of doing business. Instead, they turned into limp-dick sellouts like Paul Ryan/Marco Rubio - why?
>>
All the working class Xers I know are making America great again.

You have a skewered version of what gen x was.

It was the first modern generation where 50% were dirt poor and 50% were well off.
The have nots had nothing to fight with, and the well offs were enjoying themselves.
Now it's about 90% dirt poor, 10% wealthy.
GenX were the first pushed down the slide.
The problem wasn't them, it was the tools they tried to use to fight what they saw their future as, socialism, etc.
it's why you see a lot of old fags here who are jaded and cynical of socialism, it was once a tool they thought could work.
>>
Look at the numbers. Birth rates from post WWII till the Millenials.
There's not enough Xers to be heard really. Even if they're of the age that they should be running the show, they'll be forever drowned out by the voices of the generations before and after them.
There's a reason gen X was called " The generation that wasn't".
>>
>>76170218
It'd be nice if they would, but at the moment, 40-something Gen-X'ers mostly just seem to be leading the horrendous opioid epidemic.
>>
>>76170444
Think you have a good point about the social class and Xers growing up in a world without the opportunities their parents had.
But Xers grew up in the cold war and I don't know any that have warm fuzzy feelings about socialism besides maybe some edgy artist types.
>>
>>76170472
It's true. For some reason the millennials hate their grandparents, and that's the 'generational battle' that seems to be going on. Frankly, I don't really mind not even being part of that stupid shit.

t.Generation X

p.s. our generation still has the coolest name.
>>
>>76170529
>Gen-X'ers seem to be leading the horrendous opioid epidemic

This is true. We are also driving the beer industry explosion, increasing prescription drug stocks, and smoking pot at the speed of a forest fire. This is no different than we did 20 years ago when all our heroes were dying of either drugs or suicide. We've known we were fucked, either consciously or unconsciously, since Andrew Wood died and we're going through the motions at this point. We were the front line casualties of the Boomers.
>>
>>76170529
Well GenX includes those of us hitting 50 now but yeah, I don't associate with half the people I grew up with because their either fucked on pills, drunk daily or both unfortunately.
>>
>>76170444
Also they gave up on the institution of marriage after seeing and living through divorces. explains low birth rates as well.
>>
>>76169038
because half our pay check goes to child support for being a dead beat loser
>>
>>76170883
>the millennials hate their grandparents

Hell, I'm a millennial, but my parents are from the tail end of the Boomer generation
>>
>>76170826
It was a weird time.
The red pill was different then, people like Jello Biafra, et al, held a lot of sway. Then people grew up and realised he's San Fransisco incarnate and pretend that phase of their lives never existed.

The real change wasn't Cold War >>76170826
, or
>>76171138
Marriage breakdowns
Though big contributors, the real theft and disillusionment was globalisation. This is what started people getting priced out of their homes and lives by foreigners and has left swathes of people directionless with nowhere to turn and alienated in their homelands.
It's what really fired up the Melbournes, Tororntos, Londons of the world, and it's going to get much worse

By "selling out" I mean the Gen-X reaction to being fucked by the Boomers.

So far, it has been to submit to whatever the Boomers demand.

The Boomers want you to reconfigure society to prop up their entitlements? No problem; Gen-X'ers like Paul Ryan are at the ready to make that happen.

The Boomers want to loot the financial system and bail themselves out? Yes sir; we'll give you a hand!

That sort of thing. When - if ever - will Gen-X actually deliver a big political/social "FUCK YOU" to the Boomers who raped them?

Are they just Stockholm-syndromed for life?
>>
Xers grew up in a world where at 15 the radio station wouldn't play the music that they wanted to hear because the stations didn't want to distance the 30 somethings who were the demographic with the numbers and the money.
Media, movies, television news, politics, fashion, everything revolved around the boomers. Until the boomers offspring had money to spend as future hipster, spoiled teens,. Then culture took a major shift around them.
Xers have always been treated like theey don't count
>>
>>76171426
This right here.

OP you're a monumental faggot.
>>
>>76171658
What? Growing up all I ever heard on the radio was Gen X's whiny, depressed but still slightly upbeat and chorus-heavy rock music.
>>
Im 50. The boomers were our older brothers, sisters, cousins, people we looked up to were promising us a better world. No war, none of the hypocrisies of the older generation.
Age of Aquarius starry eyed bullshit I know now, but I belived it then and thought I was going to live in a better world.
Boy was I wrong.
They got the sexual revolution, free love.
We got the AIDs epidemic.
They got peace pot and microdot
We got the failed war on drugs. The crack and opioid epidemic and the rise of street gangs and drug cartels.
Fuck they got the mustangs and cameros, we got the ford escort and dodge caravan.
>>
>>76172859
If you're referring to that emo and grunge thing that was aimed at the boomers kids.
I remember Mtv (when they still played music) announcing at the begining of headbangers ball, to stop calling in, they were absolutely never going to play Mettalica even thought at the time they were selling out stadiums and it was during their late Saturday nite heavy metal program.
>>
>>76173227
I thought grunge and all that alternative rock that surfaced after punk died down was Gen X.

I might be off base with this one.

Because when Rebellion™ is a fucking product they sell you, only a retard thinks that Relling™ is anything but pure 100% conformity. When what they WANT you to do is destroy western civilization, hate yourself for being white, male, christian, virtuous, or honorable -- then you're only rebelling against the non-kikeified culture. But look at all the good little "anti-fascists", as if the government is "fascist", when fascism is illegal, and all representations of it are hated and forbidden. Any true rebellion would have been becoming more conservative, and wearing a fascist uniform. Gen_X were just Boomers 2.0

Millenials will be Boomers 3.0

Until someone actually has the balls to go full fash, every generation will be a little conformist copy of the last one.
>>
>>76171657

Paul Ryan is not representative of Gen X sentiment which is why he does well with the Boomers.

Yes we were fucked hard and double those of us who divorced.

Anyway the cards are dealt and our only option is to quietly work like dogs to make a living comprable to those before us.

At least we are cool
>>
>>76171658

At least we managed to make new wave and punk mix tapes and get they to make fellis beuller.

I think the fact they target media totally missed us via the regular channels like tv and radio is what caused to be so counterculture and push the fuck out of the Internet

There is a bit of grey area here. At one point general consensus was a generation was every 20 yrs. Boomers born 1945-65, gen X 1965-1975, gen Y 1975 -?. All of the sudden millenials were recognized as their own unique generation. Mostly because they grew up different than anyone before them.
A world without the cold war and more computer savy than any past generation.
This kind of leaves the 1975-80s babies in their own click to me. I'm sure others would have a different opinion.
>>
It's called "growing up" you little shit, something we all have to get around to eventually.
>>
We were born in the 70's and 80's.
We are the last generation
that learnt to play in the street, the last generation who played hide an seek. We are the first who’ve played video games, seen cartoons in color and went to amusement parks. We were the last to record songs of the radio on cassettes, we knew the connection between a pencil and cassette and we are the pioneers of walkmans and chatrooms. We Learned how to program the VCR before anyone else, play with the Atari, Super Nintendo and believed that the Internet would be a free world. We are the generation of the Thunder Cats, Scooby Doo, Tom And Jerry, Jungle Book,Popeye, G.I.JOE,Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Saved By The Bell, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Travelled in cars without seat belts or air-bags, Rode our bicycles down the road without brakes. We never had phone but still kept in touch. We did not have Play stations, 99 television stations, flat screens, surround sound, mp3s, iPods, computers and the Internet, but we had time to rest our head on our grandmas lap and listen to bed time stories. We knew how to built a sand castle on the beach. We knew the smell of a slate and chalk pencils. We held our dads hands to wait in the bank while they drew money, instead of atms. We had a GREAT time, thanks to technology that its just a memory now!
>>
>>76174515
Half of what you're describing is "90's kids" shit from my generation. Or was at least still relevant then.
>>
>>76171622
In jew york the number of white gen x homeless people seems like its increasing every day. I feel like yelling at them sometimes "You're white! You were born here! you speak the language! What the fuck happened!?"

then I notice all their tattoos and piercings, usually a small stack of leftist books...
>>
>>76170959

>Andrew Wood

This guy checks out.
>>
>>76174904

What area man? I'm all over Manhattan I've never seen this shit

The only genxers still here are typically workhorses at enterprise tech companies or finance peeps that are butthurt for doing 2x the work bc of layoffs so they can payoff the 1 million dollars studios thanks to globalization

Ayn Rand is great you commie dip.
>>
>>76175395

Everyone likes her when they are young, and overall her shit is good, but incredibly flawed.

Save yourself the disappointment and just read nietzche, where she stole all her material from and still didn't manage to be as eloquent
>>
a lot of Gen X'ers were latchkey kids who raised themselves and could probably kick your millennial ass to the curb.
>>
was Gen X the last generation of children to spend lots of time outdoors without adult supervision? mixing it up with other kids is when you get into fistfights and stuff. don't see too much of that with the millennials, their helicopter parents sucking their dicks, and their time spent on social media.
>>
>>76169038

Because peace time makes you soft, hedonistic and a cuck. Men should be in state of war at all times, internal war if not outer, that is war against the self.

All these generations are post war and they are all cucked
>>
>>76176865
even in times of war, a large percentage of the population is at home being civilians. this was true during the world wars too. not everyone is a hero soldier. the general zeitgeist is what matters and right now is the most hedonistic, decadent time in modern history.
>>
>>76175196
come to think of it they might be gen y or millenials. I see them a lot around the upper west side believe it or not and certainly around penn station by the LIRR.
>>
>>76177124

>>76177124

You don't have to be in front lines to get affected by war, it's not just the bullets that shape you. For example turkey dodged ww2 but that generation was fucked by the fear and famine the war brought along with it.

I agree with what you said though, this is end times tier degeneration we are having right now.

I am 64 1/2 years old. My father was a WWII combat veteran. I am a boomer. As I grew up, I watched the world slowly crumble to shit.
I lived in San Mateo when the internet took off. I always had a good job, though some were pure salt mine classification.

The kike mentality ruined it. Not Jews per se, but the attitude of MINE, GIMME DAT. Seeking profit above anything else. Those that climbed that filthy ladder, literally run your lives now.

And you allow that to happen. It began with public education. Now they are entrenched and its all ogre. The current generation, (18-40) are typified by being a Bernie supporter. Hating errything they are told to hate with no questions. Buying errything they are told they need in order to be cool and mainstream. Fookin retards, all of them.
