Shall we have another /Christian/? Yeah we should. Seemed like there were some good convo's going on in the last thread. Everyone is welcome! Please keep in inter-denominational insulting to a minimum; such divisions and in-fighting in Christ's church is exactly what the devil loves to see.

I'm absolutely terrible at making OP's. If anyone has any good links, post them!

An anon early on in the last thread asked to prove to him that he had a soul. I had typed something up but didn't get a chance to post it, so I'll do so in the next couple of posts.

One of science's/physics' biggest goals is to be able to perfectly describe/quantify our world. On simple levels, we can use equations, like if you wanted to plot the movement of a pendulum. Easy stuff. What's not easy is when you're got a pendulum on a chain link that is bobbing up and down as it is swinging, or a ball with some irregular bumps on it falling down a set of breaking stairs. Very difficult to model using pen and paper. That's why we have computers to do it for us. Using certain tricks we can fairly accurately model how things move, interact, etc. in our world. We can also apply this to things like planets and stars, and even atoms and molecules using quantum mechanics. You could still technically do all of this on pen and paper, but it would be very difficult.

No consider the human brain. From a purely materialistic/biological/scientific point of view, the human brain only obeys the laws of physics; it is made up of cells and particles which obey physics. So if we were to somehow model your brain perfectly on a computer, it would act exactly like your real life brain does. So really, if we were to 'talk' to this brain, it would respond exactly like you would. I could have the exact same conversation with this brain as I would have with you. If I asked this brain if it is self-aware, it would tell me that it in fact is, because that's exactly what you would say (I assume). So, does this computer simulation have a consciousness? Is it as alive as you or I? Does it have the same rights as you or I? It certainly would think so!

Let’s take this a step further. I had previously said that that all of this computer simulation could be done on pen and paper. So that means, by a purely materialistic point of view, I could model out you on pen and paper. That 'brain' would respond to inputs the same way you would. It would be your memories, your personality, everything about you all written down in hundreds of thousands of equations on paper. But, does this seem reasonable? Would that really be all there is to you? If the world is only what we can see in front of us, the answer must be yes. But if that isn't true, if I can't just make a notebook called 'Anon's brain' and fill it with everything that is you and be able to determine basically your entire life, then surely there must be an aspect to the mind that exceeds simple physics. If this is not possible, then the mind is not only bound by the laws of physics, but is influenced and bound by some other aspect too. If this other aspect is not of a spiritual nature, what could it possibly be?

aristotle has a good proof of this, which i quote from the following link:

"We have knowledge of two kinds of things -- particulars and universals. Particulars are things that exist as discrete objects in nature. An apple is a particular, as is a tree and a man. Universals don't exist as discrete things in nature. Universals are characteristics of particular things. Goodness (say, a good apple), greenness (of a tree), and humanity (said of man) are universals. Universals are concepts, not discrete things existing in nature.

Particulars are substances -- things that exist in their own right. Universals are things that exist in other things -- accidents, in Aristotelian terminology. Particulars have material agency, whereas universals don't. If you are hit by a red truck, you are hit by the truck, not by the red.

Aristotle asked: Is knowledge a material act, or an immaterial act? He noted that certain kinds of knowledge -- such as sense-perception, imagination and memory -- grasp particulars and can be readily understood as material acts. I see a rock, or a tree, or a man. Such perception of particulars can easily be understood as inherently material -- or at least very tightly linked to matter."
...
>>
>>75693052
"Aristotle pointed out that universals are another issue entirely. Knowledge of universals like good and evil -- the kind of knowledge on which free will is based -- is mediated by intellect and will. Intellect and will entail knowledge of concepts, not particular things. Through our intellect we grasp and comprehend universals, not particulars, and our will carries out decisions made by our intellect. For example, we see (perceive) a picture of Nelson Mandela (particular), we ponder (intellect) injustice (universal) done to political prisoners, and we donate (will) to Amnesty International.

How can a concept be instantiated in matter? Well, it can't. Concepts (universals) are not particulars. Therefore concepts cannot be instantiated as a particular in brain tissue or as a particular in any material substrate, such as a brain state. Therefore intellect and will (as well as universals) are immaterial."

Christian intellectuals make this argument a lot recently. However just because you can make an intelligent argument for some divine spiritual force that exists within or beyond our visible reality, that doesn't make Christianity "the religion" to be worshiped. How do we know Jews aren't right? Or Muslims? Or Hindus? There are other religions too. How are they not right?

Personally I consider myself to be a panentheist, meaning I believe in a God or some divine spirit that is intertwined or represented by the physical world but also that transcends and exists beyond it to a point that we cannot comprehend.

I don't believe in any earthly religion. I believe in the possibility of a god, and hope that if there is one he is benevolent. I also agree with alot of what Hoshua(Jesus's real name) said in the sermon on the mount as the first widespread humanitarian philosophy.

If I as a good person get to heaven and Jehovah and Hoshua are standing at the pearly gates and tell me my name isn't in the book of life and I shall burn in the depths of hell until the end of times when hell is thrown into the sulfur pit and extinguished because I denied the sanctity of christ the father and the holy spirit, then I'd probably sign up for demon conversion the moment I got to hell.

Well sin, especially lust, is by its own nature very tempatious. It will draw you in, masquerading as something nice, when really it is disgusting. The book of Leviticus describes the procedures that should be taken if someone gets Leprosy. They are to be removed and quarantined and all sorts. But the point is that the way those boils and sores on our skin look disgusting to us, that's how God see's sin when it's on our souls. Think of it like this: imagine your were to die suddenly, rapture happens right now, and you're standing before God. Can you really justify what you were doing. So if you're in the nude, and happen to be staring at a woman, and then BAM suddenly you're standing before God, do you think you can convince Him that what you were doing was a-OK?

Brother Dean has been putting up a great job, I would be really proud to be his friend. People are incredibly dumb and violent these days, I know a Christian has to deal with people who are just plain wrong everyday.

There was a video of Brother Dean putting Muslims in their place, there were the famous "YOU DESERVE RAPE" signs to all the sluts and sinners who get raped in this sick society they have made sure to build.

His work, as far as I have seen, is absolutely amazing and useful. If I could say something to him I would say "keep up the good work, brother." and "don't stop improving this great task God has given you". Narcissism is on the rise, people live in an age of abundance, they don't have a sense of guilt, of mistakes, which relates with the orbito-frontal lobe. People are lazy and effortless, their fore-fathers would rage in their graves. People think like a pack of thieves these days, they have run out of resources and they are thirsty for all God's Man possessions. Their passion, hedonism, knows no bounds.

We as Christians should go back to Theology, to militia, to academia, the Earth is our planet, not the Devil's. We should have our imageboard, we should apply Justice to all that is evil and impure. Pagans have low intelligence, and yet incredibly confident, we all know that, so let's put them in their place. We should expand our sense of property, your house doesn't end at the door or the street, home is all around you. Public property is YOURS, we should take it with all our might and put the skills we develop with our daily repentance to use to please God. Let us persecute Pornography, Anti-Social behavior and thought, stupidity, and the devil. This is not a time to be defensive, if you are being defensive you don't know how bad it is, you are denying the Lord. Let us pray daily, so GOD will clear this Earth so that we can raise our boys. Let us take the next step, let us go beyond what feminists expect of our puny selves. God will help us.

Yes. What gains focus in what you say is this sort of feeling. If you would look at some heathens of which the Bible says they are saved because they live the commandment out of a right mind. Their culture would be different: they don't have this feeling basically.

God created us. So the situation, that focuses on some sort of feeling mainly is different. Like as something that anyone made or that is very known. There is not that kind of speciality. It is neutral. Like was-just-eating or whatever else.

Pic is my church interior; It's very old. I'm thinking right now about Phillipians 4:10-13 (Thanks for their gifts)

I know that we are mad righteous before God because of Jesus, but that still doesn't make it ok to sin. I know that people sin, but it's a good idea to keep in mind so that we can make the best efforts to avoid sin and not put ourselves in a position that we might sin.

>>75696991
Stuff happens I guess. Pop culture goes where it pleases. Either that or the Devil did it, which is certainly possible. Could ask, why do so many people these days think that by being a good enough person you can earn your way into heaven? Kek it's like Westerners have conditioned themselves for Islam.

Hell is to to be cut off from God.
It's not like the medieval concept of eternal hellfire.
God would not condemn a sinner (as we all are) to damnation.
God offers hope and forgiveness.

God gives us free will to choose between light and darkness.
It is a great gift and can also be a burden. Which is why Christ guides us and teaches us how to live.

Anon, you don't have to believe in a specific God to be considered a religious person.

It can never ever be a sin because not only the great commandment doesn't exact one specific thing. It is only about not being an unacceptable damage to others or God.

The fact that this is something you envy shows that your soul has a yearning for God, maybe you just have too much pride to say it to yourself. It starts at home, in other words, it starts with you and only you. Don't go out looking for like minded people. You'll meet those people when the time is right, and you'll know when the time is right to do so.
First thing first, I suggest you research prayer. Pro tip: you don't have to close your eyes or kneel down to pray.
Clear your mind. Look/study your actions and interactions. Change what you think is cancerous. Cut it out.
You're officially a seeker. Don't put labels on yourself. Never say I'm this and I'm that etc...Just keep beating your own path.

Others can add to these

The wor L d , a bit confusing maybe.

No. I think you mean the text about ...If your eye tempts you ... ?

- So first of all being a well informed person, how unlivable or livable would YOU set this standard? It can work individually

- Christ brings in some sort of reality. The example he gives has some sort of prejudice. It is known and in the Bible. So to say this: some times a look can have an effect. Now it would be more in a direction of aggression. That sort of situation can be heard or seen sometimes.

- Some other thing could be the Bible as a book and its contents.

I feel like a dick tho - telling a guy who was born in catholic country, inside the tradition and never knew anything except Catholicism that his religion is heretical - but it's the truth, and what use there is for the truth if we keep it hidden?

This stands really weak. You would put this up as a reason. While it is something -As Paul says: ,, Sin common to man ''. it is something that belongs under such a title.

How is this THAT different from any other comparable thing. Or in it's solution? Mostly if there is anything these things are socially being taken care of. As an example: all are thankful to someone if something good is done. And special attention. And maybe this is different. But it in no way excludes respect.

Right. How would be abstaining from things that have to do with erotisism be defiling compared to not doing it? While someone that is saved only by a right mind, as the Bible mentions heathens that partake because of this, would just do this.
