Rice needs to be cooked, which means it weights more than preserved meat as it now requires fuel and water.
Seeds and Beans are similar, some don't need to be cooked - but you won't be extracting much nutrient from them if you don't.
Dried fruit is at least sensible, but it's only got lots of fructose, which isn't going to give you long burning energy - still a few in your pack probably isn't a bad idea as a fast energy source.
Nuts are another sensible choice, lots of energy density, low-gi even - too bad this lady didn't take any with her but instead relied on carrots and cucumber...
But still none of them provide an energy density similar to that of salt cured, dried meat.

I was listing them as general foods, you'd be best off with vegetable oil and Scottish oatmeal. Mix it together and pound that shit down. Ton of fat, carbs, and enough protein to stop muscle loss (you'll be eating this a lot, the macros add up). You can add sugar, too. I'm a vegan for health reasons, only for a month now. It would be retarded not to breast feed a newborn for quite some time. It is a natural process. The mother must be very careful with her diet and make sure she's getting an excess of nutrients. I'd even recommend having a doctor do blood work to determine an appropriate diet adjustment. If not, formula is better than deficient breast milk.
