Once you start studying ancient religions you see all of them were amoral. Greek, Roman, Celtic, Norse, early Persian, and Hindu Gods were not moral deities. The approach we have to morality today is completly different to what people viewed in the past, they didn't really have strong concepts of "good" and "evil" but rather "good" and "bad' in the Nietzchean sense.
The idea of moral deities doesn't really come around until Monotheism
