Hey /po/! What are some ways you've used paper to fix objects you need everyday?

I need gloves for work, I forgot them at home one day. Made mittens out of paper. Worked wonderfully
>>
>>536656
how did you manage that one anon
>>
Well.. I don't know if this counts but.. there was this exposed side of the house, realized I had those huge "engineering paper", so I used them. Had a broken table leg, used paper, realized that guests didn't have plate mats, so I used those Valentine's paper wrapper as mats and coasters. There was also this Garfield Bag that could also double as a bib, but I never got to use it.

15 KB,
hey /po/,

i'm planning to make something like pic related, but instead of a star in form of a heart. now since i'm a scrub, i would like to ask you guys.

whats the expected difficulty? i only mean the crafting part, not electronics. it doesn't have to be high-end, it just shouldn't look like utter shit

what kind of material should i use? it has to be strong enough to endure around 50 gram (mostly the weight of batteries) inside of it, but it doesn't need to be wood either

would it be reasonable to fold two hearts and combine...

I don't think it would be too difficult. The heart would be faceted, not smooth and organic, if papercraft. You might be able to manage curved sections, but there would still be sharp fold lines.

The hardest part is probably designing the heart. Fortunately, there is one here: http://www.mookeep.com/229/heart-shape-papercraft-model/

If you can manage, you're probably best off transferring that pattern to a large sheet of cardstock with a compass/straightedge, or proportional dividers. Otherwise you need a large format printer which can handle thick stock,...

>>
Posterboard would work well. Cutting thick stock is difficult for most people. You need a sharp knife and ideally a steel straightedge which can span the length of the cut. It would be worth buying a 9mm snap blade knife for this project if you don't have one. You hold down the straightedge very firmly, and cut lightly on the first stroke. It might take ten strokes to cut all the way through the material. Hold the straightedge firmly the whole time. Blades dull quickly, you might only get 4 meters of cutting before you should snap off a segment.

If you want a heart...

Usually it's more like restrictions, like "if you intend to launch more than 20 of those things you have to ask/tell the authorities".

/po/, help.

I made this particular model years ago, and every link I can find online is broken.

Does someone happen to have this Deku Scrub model saved? ;_;

I probably don't have it. Later, when I have a chance I'll check my old hard drive to make sure.

But have you tried contacting Xenonray and asking for it? On his site he says he took the model down because it was a bad design but maybe if you contact him he would share it.

Incidentally, do you (or anyone) happen to have any masks from majora's mask? Most of them seem to be down as well.
>>
>>534813

I don't know why they don't show up when you search for them on nintendo papercraft, but they're here: http://nintendo-papercraft.com/zelda-masks/

Actually, most of those links (the ones hosted at zapotlanejo.info) are dead. It seems that the hosting site doesn't exist anymore.

Planes I can make from printer/leaf paper that actually glide and fly. I can never successfully make a good plane.
8 replies and 4 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>534748

If you want to make planes. You need perfection.

You either go foldable paper planes, or go big with constructing actual planes.

But if you construct it out of paper, you better be fucking precies. Any imperfections would make the craft spiral out of controll and hit the ground.
>>
You can make very capable gliders out of regular a4.

Look up white wings and similar designs. Following the same fashion worka with a4. Something like glue sticks give second rate results, but superglue is preferable.

One can even make tight, thin cone fuselages using super glue that are quite strong.

Wings are of folded and glued spar inside a folded skin.

Go for very low aspect ratios if you want to fly indoors as this lessens gust response.

Try to be precise but minor imperfections are no issue as they can easily be trimmed out.
>>
>>535278

I should also add that it is very easy to make a fuselage of triangular cross section with a4 paper, and one that can be both glued or taped.

This ends up being very lightweight, simple but also strong. Also very easy to attach v tails to such a fuselage, and have the horizontal side mated to the wing. Pinch the nose in to make it more aerodynamically clean.

I take anything I want to put together to a UPS store and have them print it out in color laser on their cardstock, pretty cheap if its just a page or two and looks really good.

The oil is 12x12in.

And a 50x40in collage that I just finished today based on a balloon CP. I will grab better photos tomorrow.

Seeing how slow this board is, I'll bump with any new works. If you know of any highly symettrical or highly unbalanced models, please post!

Hey /po/

not sure if this is the right board to be posting in, so my bad if it is.

I want to print some designs onto plastic acetate/transparency sheets.

What am I looking for in the spec of my printer to see if it is capable of this?

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product/Specifications.do?sku=C11CC33201

Thanks

Probably not, inkjet printers usually don't work fine with regular plastics because the ink doesn't dry well, to print in regular acetates use laser printers or copy machines (the type that use toner).

There are special transparencies for inkjet printer they are called Inkjet Films or something like that, just follow the instructions and you will be fine.
>>
>>536592
thanks for the info anon, you reckon these Inkjet Films would be okay to expose a silk screen? I guess anything black would be fine - as long as it stops the light
>>
>>536617
Probably, but you will need to make some testing with the settings of your printer to obtain the best results, better intensity and definition is obtained when you use the settings for premium paper.
