Where were you when apsc is kill?
cucked.
sony probably didn't want to cannibalize their a7 by making the apsc really good.

Awesome, finally!

the a6000 will get a price drop and i can BUY ONE
>>
>>2759724
I'm pretty excited about the better EVF, that was the main thing holding me off. And if the AF is even marginally better, that'll be a big win as well. Shame it's so similar to the a6k tho.
>sony probably didn't want to cannibalize their a7 by making the apsc really good.
and they also didn't want to waste a fuckton of R&D money when they can just camp on the A6000 specs because there's still nothing that can directly compete with it. Plus it's selling extremely well.
>>
>>2759724
What happened to the 6100 and 6200?
>>
>>2759729
cancelled.
>>
>>2759727
no they won't.
they're selling the a6300 for $1000, body only.

fuck sony,
i'm waiting for eos m fool frame.
>>
>>2759732
why wouldn't they drop the price on the old camera? isn't that what happens?
>>
>>2759734
because they probably will sell them side by side as different tier.
the a6000 is already $500 for the body.
>>
well, at least now you can get a canun ef-s 24mm f2.8 and use pdaf on your a6300.
the only 24mm e-mount apsc is the zeiss which is $1000.
so yea.
>>
>6300

well, it was nice and had a good ring to say "ay-six thousand" or "ay-six-kay"

but what the hell are we supposed to say now? "Ay, sixty three hundred"?
Has no ring at all.

Well, the Zeiss 24mm is also an f/1.8 lens, but you could still always find a used 24 or 20mm 1.8 from Sigma or Nikon if you want something cheaper

>a-at least we got copper wiring, right?
Not a bad thing, eh

>same old body
No, it's now made out of aluminium/magnesium alloy instead of plastic

nitpicking / looking to justify the argument

>Taking photos with your shiny new camera body

This is a GH4 killer. 6K downsampled to 4K, 100Mbps XAVC-S, 1600 ISO is actually good compared to unusable on the Panny. S-LOG3 with 14 stops of DR is damn good.

No IBIS, BSI, touchscreen, is a shame, but didn't expect it if it's the same size as the A6000 (IBIS at least). Price is high, but still less than new Oly/Fuji cams.

Not much of an improvement in photography from what I would shooting, but it seems like the AF on this thing will even annihilate that of the A7RII, with how dense the PDAF points are, as well as even more coverage percentage of the sensor. Performance can only be judged from use though, so I won't hold my breath on DSLR-killing AF just yet.

evf 2.4m with a refresh rate of 120fps

120fps full HD and fucking 4k video
Weather sealing
425 af points

Holy shit for the price this is a steal!
>>

Hm, I don't think it has that? Does it?

you stupid idiot. it's the best camera in it's price range by a country mile. Of course it has weather sealing.

Yea, this pretty much rapes most of the competition if it is as good as the spec sheets claims.

>>2759872

Sony couldn't even afford to put in an ovf for their dead mount. Enjoy your pity body. Your camera line is as dead as the EOS M line.

The new 24-70mm is probably the biggest thing Sony has in this announcement, especially for the people who have held out. I didn't get to see 100% crops, but it looked fantastic at first glance.

Yet the old ass NX1 will still be better than any Canon mirrorless offering for the next decade.
>>
Prices have already dropped for the a6000 by $50 or so, since the last time I checked.

I would have bought the a6300 but it isn't that much of an improvement and it still doesn't have a touchscreen or flip screen. I might as well get the a6000 for the price.

Do you guys think the price will drop lower around March when the a6300 is released and shipped out?
>>
>>2759959
Samsung can't make up their mind, they booked for Photokina, then backed out, they're flip-floppers with no direction, they may have more lenses than Canon, but Canon's going to be doing full frame mirrorless, something worst Korea was too much of a pussy to develop past the testing stage
>>
>No dedicated shutter speed dial or aperture ring
You had two jobs Sony.
>>
The most heartbreaking detail about this is that Sony is calling it their flagship for the bracket. That means there's no Nex7 successor.

I like the features in this new body. As an owner of an A6000, I can appreciate the silent mode. However, I would've loved to see them pull the filter off, or make it a BSI. Too bad. Guess I'm not updating for some years then.
>>
>>2760086
how's the a6000 for video? I'm thinking about buying it but I'm not completely convinced on it's video capabilities.

>>
>>2759989
Current prices for new a6000 will be the same through Feb 27th.

Used prices might start tanking, but no one knows on new prices until we get the new rebates for March (should get them last week of February).
>>
>>2759724
so what is this, the same shit for 500 dollars more?
>>
>>2759839
And what does that have to do with the price of butter?
>>
>>2759805
this is cool but the samsung nx1 did that already *with* BSI, has a surprisingly servicable digital stabilization mode built in, and
is already cheap as shit used due to its impending cancellation, and will cost basically nothing once samsung pulls the plug
>>
>>2760130

>>

>>
>>2760130
"cheap as shit" yeah no it's still stupid expensive. body alone is still $1500 new. i'd certainly get the NX1 + the 16-50 and 50-150 in a heartbeat it all costs $2500 or so. Not when they are over $4000 combined though.
>>
>>2760086
>However, I would've loved to see them pull the filter off, or make it a BSI.
BSI is probably hard to pull off in the A6000 segment.

I know this thing is a price point above the A6000, but one day it will replace the aging A6000 in the 600 dollar price point.
Since it's apparently the sweet spot, the rationale is the sensor can't be too expensive, because scaling down to the 600 dollar pricing needs to be possible eventually.
>>
>>2760185
samshit pulled it off with nx500.
they're just putting the money somewhere else.
why help fujifilm creep into a7 territory right?
>>
>>2760200
oh yea. and the a6300 is priced $1000.
it's not an a6000 replacement.
>>
>>2760201
I did say "eventually".

If there is something Sony has consistently done over the years, it's to replace their cameras fast and lowered their pricing very aggressively as well.

>>2759805

>6K downsampled to 4K,
With Full Pixel readout. This is significant.

6K recording at Full Pixel readout, and then downsampling to 4K.
This shit is actually going to look good. A shame about no BSI though.
>>
>>2760093
Yes, the a6000 does have pixel binning but the video quality is darn great anyway. Never had any issues with it.
>>
>>2760130
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there exist no camera no sensor to this date that outputs 6K video at Full Pixel readout.

Not even the A7S or A7Rii can do this. This is breakthrough in terms of recording for sonsumer cameras.
>>
>>2760202
rx100 is still on sale.

>>2760216
it reads 6k full pixel readout.
then downscale it to 4k for encoding.
it's near 6k because it's cropped to super 35.

a7s ii does full sensor readout.
a7r ii, does it in crop mode.
a7s does full sensor but you need an external recorder.
>>
>>2760235

I think Sony would have suffered from the same fate as Samsung if they hadn't purchased Minolta and the A-mount.

Thankfully at least one of them survived so we won't be stuck in the middle ages.

>>2760265

Mad M43 owners who can't do sports photography.
>>
>>2760250
This is understandable. Panasonic panicked and restarted their sensor development.

Why? Because Sony sold out all their shares in Olympus. And that normally means m4/3 alliance is kill unless they can stand on their own legs and develop their own sensors.
They need to work on their own stuff now, because Sony is probably not going to do it for them, after having sold off any remaining commitment they had in Olympus.
>>
>>2760273
Panasonic fags sucking on sony's supple teats. Why even bother with panasonic anymore.
>>
>>2760276
What are you even on about? They're trying to stand on their own now.
>>
>>2760265
Apparently those 425 AF points can orientate themselves and compress themselves into a smaller field with even higher density.

This should in theory increase the precision tremendously.
https://youtu.be/ZDGnl5SHBzc?t=2404
It looks like they did a good job with the new AF. It's supposedly really fast too.

this camera makes fuji obsolete.
>>
bumping thread as a reminder of sony dominance.
>>
>>2760349
sony doesn't have shit on fuji. literally nobody else does high-end aps-c lenses like they do. that's their one niche
>>
>>2760466
>aps-c relevant

The only reason sony made the A6300 is to destroy on all markets. Sony is literally pissing on fuji.
>>
>>2760349
Really? it has an AA filter, it has a bayer array, it doesn't have an AF point nipple, it doesn't use Fuji glass (and barely has any of its own) it doesn't have the Fuji style, it doesn't have an OVF, it has a big knobbly grip...

I like the price, but other than that... Fuji for me.

Still, it's a very nice camera. Great video update, and the AF should be very impressive. Hope it's as accurate as we're all dreaming about.
>>
>>2760472
>AF point nipple
holy shit, didn't realize fuji did that. v nice
>>
>>2760474
Yeah, it should be a welcome addition. With the crazy number of points that the a6300 is offering, I'm sure it would have been a welcome addition.
>>
>>2760475

>>

>>
>>2760349
I'd still get an x-pro 1 over this, even if they were the same price, different strokes for different folks.

Also, awful native lens selection.
>>
>>2760493
nah man, I got a xpro 1 the camera is slow for today standards, but the workflow is really nice, I will buy the 6300 for /vid/ and keep my xpro for stills
>>
>>2760496
Thing is, todays standards are way more than I need already. X-Pro 1's def fast enough for me.
>>
>>2760496
Many people don't use autofocus at all, or only shoot in bright light, in which case, the XPro1 does very very well.
Not that MOST people should buy it and expect to be happy right now, but certainly for some people, it's great.
>>
>>2759724
>a-at least we got copper wiring, right?
Don't underestimate this. It's actually a feature that belongs to the most advanced manufacturing process we have today for CMOS sensors.

So it's a pretty good indicator that Sony is using their best process for this, even though it doesn't have BSI.
