hoping to do some long exposure when i get my 35mm
When you put it on bulb mode, do you just figure out the correct settings, time how long and hope for the best? and do you use ND filters?
or is there a more full proof method?

little bit of all three. film gets progressively less sensitive as you march past the one second mark, so critical split-second timing isn't quite so crucial. Look up reciprocity charts for your given film. ND filters are necessity for daytime exposures.

Oh okay, maybe crop a little then, try keep a rect aspect ratio, if you like the square, go for it, all good. Photo is nice, wish there were a couple more people for blurring, but that's not controlled so all good. Other than that, reminds me a little of Morning Glory album cover. Could've tried move over to the left maybe and play with the lines the buildings have? Maybe next time yeah?

I don't have lightroom but I presume it's not very hard to get. Only worked with Photoshop before but that might just be because of ignorance to better stuff.

Settings less relevant here. The geometry of the image is solid - but I might work on the blacks a bit in places where the noisy "glow" doesn't help the image. Consider doing an aggressive noise reduction on a new layer and "painting" it back into areas of deep shadow.

No, more like either post processing to do some edge burning, etc. To tone it down a bit and draw more attention to the sky or keep a black card with you (or use your hand) and do some manual "dodging" during the exposure to tone down the foreground by waving something close to camera and in frame to tone down the edges or certain areas in the frame.
I know you can just take extra frames and blend in post, but old achool dodge and burn during an exposure is a fun challenge and can create cool results.
