not only is this exploitative and done to death like >>2871637 said (if the subject is indeed homeless, bc it could also just be somebody who stopped to read a book & eat a quick lunch on their way to the laundromat or some shit), it's also a very poorly framed & shot image.
first of all, you're way too far away from your subject. if you're going to take a photo like this - one that's ostensibly a portrait - you may as well have the balls to get up close to your subject. as is this feels like you're frightened & awkward to an extent that you're willing to sacrifice the integrity of your image in order to avoid the momentary awkwardness that comes with asking permission to take someone's photo.
additionally, the mise-en-scene (for lack of a better term) is sloppy. your picture feels off-balance, in part because all of the color in the image is in the lefthand side of the frame. there are no strong lines that lead the eye to your subject, and in fact the shadows of tree branches that cover most of the frame mean that the primary lines of the image are mazelike and convoluted. the trash can & gate on the right add nothing to the picture, but since they're just as prominent as your subject they carry as much visual weight and become a big distraction to the viewer. there are more issues too, i guess, but this post is long enough already.

Being off center works as the model has an inviting expression, and the road is a place to go.
I think the background is a little too distracting, I think it would have worked a little better if you were able to get down to f2.8 or perhaps wider. I understand you may not have had a lens capable but be aware that background can make all the difference in this kind of shot.
Since it was for a music promotion perhaps it would be worthwhile going super cheese and adding an instrument, just a suggestion if you end up going for another shoot.

imo this shot might feel more dynamic if you had introduced just a bit of motion blur, give the viewer a sensation of the pole vaulter's body in motion rather than suspended lifelessly in midair. plus a bit of motion blur would have the added benefit of helping to mask your missed focus - right now it's very plain.

given how this style of architectural photo puts such an emphasis on clean lines and geometry, it sort of bugs me that this building is so shoddy that the various strong lines, which normally draw the eye and make this sort of image seem almost sterile in the precision of its geometry, are all ever-so-slightly askew and off kilter.
normally it wouldnt really matter, but since in this photo the geometry of the building basically is the sole subject i think its worth thinking about. the human brain is very very good at recognizing when lines are perfectly horizontal or perfectly vertical: we have a whole bunch of these specialized groups of neurons in the striate cortex (V1) dedicated to doing nothing but detecting the orientation of lines, and they're generally best attuned to perfectly horizontal or vertical lines. so when something like this is so close to being perfectly level, but isn't quite there, we can detect it easily and it makes the whole image feel off to a certain extent.

i don't have much experience with landscape photography, but i think it's pretty common knowledge that people have a very hard time recognizing the size of something as massive as a mountain when you don't provide them with something else, of a familiar size, to compare/contrast it with.
so with that in mind, if your goal is to capture the grandeur and scale of this huge ass mountain maybe you should step back a bit and recompose the shot so that you get some more of those pine trees in the frame to give the viewer a better frame of reference. as is for all i know this could be a macro shot of somebody's gravel driveway after they shoveled it or something.

I like it. though it feels more like a competent piece of documentary photography than a "fine art" photo to me, so I get the sense it'd be even stronger in the context of a cohesive series shot at the same festival(?).
by itself it doesn't really say much, I guess - it doesn't really take any artistic stances or push any photographic envelopes, and standing alone devoid of context it fails to successfully tell me much about the events being depicted. but I think that's true of almost any image you pluck from some modern journalistic photo series, not really an "issue" with your image.

Well, it's meaning to me, at least.
I went to a park with my sister, and we hanging out there. I saw the tires, and they were lined up like the photo. They led to the upper floor of the playground. To me it symbolizes how people have to go through repetitive, boring, gruesome work to get to the parts of life where things are nice and fun. I know I didn't show it that well in the photo, thinking about it I really should have shown it better, but in my mind I thought that adding the cool fun parts wouldn't make sense. In life, we are never sure that the great is real. We never know if there is anything past the gruel, and dust. We are left to guess what's beyond those tires. And people with a bleak outlook will just think that there isn't anything beyond. It's all just tires.

Look - the old "rules" are there more as a quaint reminder of the original idea than a set of directions.
The 1000px size limit is arbitrary - but a good reminder to use some courtesy and not postihuge ass fucking files. This helps people using cell phones.
It keeps us form having to deal with 150 6000px images in the "Recent Photo Thread." The RPT is shit enough by suppressing actual photo threads.

Today is Canada day
I looked through the 6 months worth of photos i have trying to find something truly canadian. I found pictures of people playing pond hockey, tobogganing, bikes buried in snow, people sitting at a park bench drinking with a foot of snow on the ground, people biking (and unicycling) in snowstorms but somehow this one says the most about Canada to me.

it almost looks to me like there was fog on the lens. I would replicate this at home (close focus and f/1.8) and test it if I were you, it shouldn't be doing that afaik
