That light is pretty good senpai.
>>2866763
i find it harsh.
>>2866795
It's giant diffused window light. It is literally the exact opposite of "harsh" by definition.
>>2866798
i dont care, it looks harsh.
>>2866803
I'm not saying you're wrong for whatever you're feeling, I'm just saying, it's very difficult to have a conversation about it because the word you've chosen isn't expressing your idea well. The light isn't harsh. It's very soft and diffused. That's not an opinion, it's a fact, based on the source of the light. So in order to address the point you're wanting to make, and have a conversation about it, you need to be more clear.
Are you saying that the direction of the light is unpleasant? Are you talking about the overall contrast ratio between the lighted side of the subject and the rest of the room? Is it the coloring in the scene making it seem cold and sterile? What are you trying to talk about.
>>2866756
yeah. nice spam. "oh look, my work is marvelous." you're real kino, dude.
>>2866795
>>2866803
the lighting is not "Hash" it's just soft defused light with a left direction with no bounce coming from the right of the frame, because the right side is flagged.
"Harsh light" is when the the light so drastic it contrast by about 5 stops, not 2 stops.
I'll post an example next.

A missed opportunity at the start by the production team. Should of included more things to foreshadow the plot. Like swapping out the pictures in the background and the magazines in foreground, with maternity symbols.

Not everything has to be an obnoxious easter egg. Why would a small diner style restaurant have a pregnancy theme?

>Not everything has to be an obnoxious easter egg. Why would a small diner style restaurant have a pregnancy theme?
Because of mise en scene. Every bit of detail in the shot must contribute to the story or character. This shot was obviously done in a highly controlled environment, where the production team hand crafted the set. Someone had to select what magazines and pictures are used. This is what separates a good film-maker from a bad or inexperienced film-maker. A good photographer from a bad one.
Hopefully everyone can take away something this.
>>2867515
They put in photos and magazines to make a scene that gets out of the way. They don't want you looking at the magazines, or spending the whole movie looking at minor set details rather than paying attention to the acting, the script, the lighting, etc. A set is built to give a convincing world for the story to live in. Not as a way to use every possible detail to shout in your face. They put it there so that you don't notice that it's a set. They put things there to make the world seem real. Why would a real restaurant be filled with baby shit? It would be surreal, and would break the believably of the scene, to do something that they aren't trying to do in the first place.
hopefully, you can take something away from this.

just because you post several "examples" does not mean one wouldn't notice, you actually advertise your own shit short movie here. do you think people are stupid?
Fuck off with your spam. find a decent way to get attention and stop behaving like a little kid who thinks it would be insanely clever hiding behind its own hands.
... gosh ... dat cringe.
>>2867551
>They put things there to make the world seem real
But that is where you are wrong senpai. The whole setting is a visual representation of her mind.
>Not as a way to use every possible detail to shout in your face
Tell that to the production team. They get off on that shit.

This is pretty terrible in my opinion.
>Poorly lit. I don't care if they left more than half the screen in darkness for stylistic reasons, you can't argueagainst that it is poorly done.
>Pretty bad camerawork that does nothing for the scene. Camera movement is a luxury it's not to be abused when unnecessary.
>What's the point of shooting through that dirty glass? If there was a reason for this, I missed it.
>Narration, the trademark of a shitty filmmaker.
>Holy exposition batman!
Film is all about VISUALLY telling stories in PICTURES, MOVING PICTURES. I find it ironic that you make a thread about cinema and yet you post a short like this. There are a hundred ways you could have shot this, and they decided to do it in the least creative, least cinematic way possible. Hurr let's use narration to carry the weight of the entire story, and shoot a woman at a cafe who is just barely acting, but who cares because 80% of it will be shot wide!
What's worse is that you actually thought this was an example of a good short film, which says a lot about your knowledge, or lack thereof, regarding cinematography and cinema.
Hey guys. Going to post a VLC snaps from films. Hope you enjoy

Blade Runner has some beautiful shots.
I just watched Sorcerer (1977) on Blu-ray and was really struck by the cinematography, specifically the lighting. It seems really clear and bright and crisp. The close ups especially look really great, and the vegetation is really lush and green. I've been trying to mimic it in my photography but I haven't been able to match that clarity. Any ideas on how to achieve this?
