>when you've been in the basement since 2009 and still think the word "hipster" describes anything
good
Ehh. It's ok.
Some more interesting/varied locations would help I think. Or a wider context.
Composition and placement in the environment could be improved. I get what you're trying to do with the parking lot etc., but especially 2 and 6 look like you just put the board down somewhere and took a shot. Maybe look for more interesting light and natural leading lines.
Also the order in which you presented them doesn't feel right to me.
>>2855114
Basically this. OP has the beginning of an idea, but didn't really flesh it out.
>>2855093
Stop it Stanley. My head is already spinning from the previous scene.
>>2855075
I think this may be my favourite, because the board is clearly not pointing straight at the camera. It's interesting to the eyes in the context of the set - we expect a censor-like perfect rectangle but instead we're met with a real-world equivalent of one.
I think is perhaps what >>2855114
means when they speak about the order they're presented. It'd be dramatic to first set up the board as a flat, black rectangle and then 'reveal' it as a 3D object.
It reminds me a lot of the monolith from 2001 a space odyssey
So if that wasn't your intention you should reconsider how you want to execute your concept
>>2855086
Jesus this is terrible
>>2856308
Your unsupported opinion is not welcome on this board.
>>2856311
He's got a point though
What's your idea? Are you trying to do a 2001 Space Odyssey thing or something else?
>>2856342
He literally does not have even a small semblance of a point.
well OP I loved the movie. I would've liked a lot better with a person(s) in it, so like a resemblance of the film. However, some are boring and some are entertaining, mostly due to location.
nice job m8, looks badass
>>2856534
its about memory loss and absence of space
>>2857001
that's pretty cool actually. it definitely reminded me of 2001 as soon as I saw it though. But that's not necessarily bad.
>>2855463
I think this could be a good idea to try.
I think 5 and 7 are the strongest. 3 is good but the background detracts a bit IMO.
I agree that playing around with composition might be a good idea.
Still great work OP. I'm offering criticism but I still think they're nice works and a cool concept.
>>2857001
I wanted to hate this but instead I confess I liked it here and there. Definitely the thematics should be somewhere in the exhibiton, in the name or names of the pictures for the least. Otherwise it might leave a feeling of mindless hipstery.
Definitely try breaking the pattern in one image which shows the box as a real world object, but don't make it screamingly obvious. Either that or make it the same place and size in every one.
These aren't very interesting as thumbnails but they open up when you open them up. I would still seek for more interesting scenes if you're not completely sure about these.
Also Stanley Kubrick. You'll be hearing a lot of that.
Dare I ask, what is that literally, that box?
>>2857548
Also what I would do if this was an exhibiton would be to be sure every image looks like the box is a photshopped overlay and then bring the actual entity to the exhibiton as a part of it and enable the visitors to investigate that physical object, perhaps not with complete freedom, as in putting it against a wall so you can never see what's on the other side.
That would be freaky
>>2857001
And how do the photographs exactly "explore" this issue? Seems one-dimensional to me.
>>2857548
>>2857550
it was presented in an exhibit with an artist statement that explained the concept. i did think about presenting the actual object but decided against it. i definitely understand peoples problems with the order in which they are presented. i wanted the final photo to be a subtle reveal as there is a slight shadow, but i definitely get how the first one can ruin that reveal. i appreciate that feedback a lot.
the object is a 4x8 feet foam board which i painted black
>>2855075
The problem is that we cannot have enough context to judge your pictures. Pictures
alone are not enough.
Those are well executed and merge themselves well - this is probably the only thing which I like.
>>2855080
>>2855078
Some strange traces on black surface in these two.
>>2855079
I cannot see any good in shopping out the shadow. The absence of shadows on other photos is not good too - whether intentional or not.
>>2857001
>absence of space
literally wat
didn't make use of negative space. this instantly makes it worse
>>2859656
>best one OP keep it up
