When there's no real straight or parallel lines, it's more or less impossible to tell, and doing a correction won't help or hurt much. In theory, doing correction after the fact degrades the image quality a bit by squishing and stretching pixel data, but in real life, meh. I don't bother, generally.

so, the problem with it is that there's no real focus . my eye wanders looking at it, because I'm trying to see some sort of depth or focal point or subject or anything to draw me in. The trouble with landscapes is that often what looks nice or conveys a certain emotion in person falls flat in a photo. All the depth is lost in this one, and it just looks overwhelmingly plain. Try to pick something and focus on it-- try to get away from the bullseye centered shot. Go back when the lighting is more interesting, maybe play with zooms, just do something.

Poor light, poor processing, poor makeup, poor focus, poor pose selection for your particular model.
Get softer light unless you know what you're doing with hard light. Get her away from the wall so the hard shadow isn't directly behind her. Choose a pose that flatters your model, rather than juts picking one at random from a book. This pose makes her look old saggy, sleepy, and cheap. You let her hair look frizzy and fried and greasy, and overall like a cheap stripper dye job. Your processing (working with the light) left the image flat and bland, and there's next to no fine detail in the face whatsoever. The dramatic choice for lipstick doesn't match the lack of dramatic makeup elsewhere, and the eye-liner without any eye shadow makes her look like a high school girl who's never seen good makeup before.

Lightroom's really easy to use, find an introductory tutorial, I don't think it'll take longer than 30min to learn the basics. Imo it's fine to have pictures a little bigger, but you don't need to post large pictures to see the content, if someone want a copy they'll ask you to upload the original.

you're going in the right direction, but you're still not there yet. In photoshop (or lightroom), I was able to get a much better lighting on the model's face by just playing with the levels (black and white points).
Also, I converted to B&W to check how that looked and I got great results. So I encourage you to try that, too.
Note, there's a red scratch on her elbow and some facial acne you can clean up with the healing brush.

The magic is happening in the scales and the leopard spots along top of head, and in the iridescent colors behind the eye. Adding depth of field would get more of the scene in focus.
Reduce ISO to 100, you want the sharpest image possible because the details are quite small.
I like the image rotated 90 degrees, so the fish look like they're mounted on a wall or protruding from the wood.
The highlights are blown out in the silver underneath the fish mouths. Bring down highlights in Lightroom and adjust white level. There's a trick for this in Lightroom: Hold ALT (or Option on mac) when you adjust the white or black sliders to see the mask. This trick also works for Sharpness and other sliders, too.

Suggestions:
Try shooting in AV (aperture priority mode) at f10 to get more detail.
If you're using a 40mm prime, then compose your shots from farther away. Much farther away. Shoot as wide as you can, then crop. With people, you need to get more of the body and leave less room above their heads. Angle your camera lower and from farther away.

First, let's talk about lines.
Horizontal lines evoke peace and calm. Vertical lines can act like punctuation when intersecting a horizontal line, and can create rythm when used with other vertical lines, like notes on written music. Diagonal lines create tension and sometimes a feeling of aggression.
Now, let's talk about horizons.
People see with a level horizon because we stand upright. This is why when you take a photograph, it's generally good to maintain that horizon in your image, if you want the viewer to perceive a scene you captured as if they were there.
Now, let's talk about tilting, and what it does.
A slight tilt gives you the ability to add to or exclude objects from the frame and exaggerate lines, at the cost of a level horizon. You can also create a sense of discomfort by removing the horizon as a reliable reference point. You can also exaggerate certain lines' effect, or neutralize their effect by tilting one kind of line into another. This affects all lines in the picture.
Now you have an example of some rules, why those rules exist, and when to break those rules. There's no method to the madness, it's just a method that feels like madness if you don't understand it.

for me it's when you're looking at a B&W picture and it doesn't really have any deep blacks or contrasty whites but is just a mess of gray
