My husky recently passed away, and this is the only good photo of him that I can place next to his urn. This was originally shot on my Canonet rangefinder, put there was a problem with the processing and the color came out odd. It's always bothered me, and I've tried to fix it but every time I only make it worse.
Could anyone help me get a more natural look so my red husky isn't purple?

I'll take a shot at it. Is this the full size?

I understand if the other images you have aren't "good" by your standards, especially to be put next to the urn. However if you would please, uploading a few others might give us a better depth and understanding of the husky himself.
I can't help much with the editing, but my condolences for your doge. I just lost mine as well, on Saturday, and in 11 years never managed to get a decent photo of him. (He was in a product ad a few years ago, so at least I have some nice professional photos of him, just not ones I took.)
OP I'm >>2848697 and I'm going to take a stab at it as well. Just give me a little while.
I know it kinda sucks, but here's a retouch I did.
If anyone wants to criticize it, or work off of it, be my guest. Let me know if it's complete shit OP, hope you like it, and hope someone can make it a little better.

The eye and ear fix certain blatant issues, but still look oddly synthetic, if someone else can work off of this edit and blend the eye/ ear in a bit better, it might completely improve the image.
blood the exposure and colour balance on this is completely fucked, how much of his head is red? I'm trying to do something in LR but feel like I couldn't do much without installing PS and using layers
Also lazy monochome just because
Sorry your dog died btw

I was trying to figure out how much of it was red too, hence why I asked for multiple images. The monochrome route would have been a bit easier, but I was trying to stay true to the given colors with my retouch. I guess all we can do is wait for OP's feedback on what we gave him, and perhaps make slight modifications after that.

I've never seen a red husky that dark in the colored areas. Usually it's almost a blonde tone. You sure it isn't a regular "black" husky that you're trying to make look red? The neck and shoulders area looks like the red is just straight up painted on.
yeah fuck this, I'm out. I tried working in PS but I haven't got a clue what I am doing with it lel

What do you think of the retouches we've provided so far?
Thanks to those who helped. I did manage to find the original negative. I'll try to find my scanner to upload a better scan. The picture I provided was pulled from my old photobucket account.
