What will be your next film buy, anon?

Are you still buying film stuff or did you already recognise its death?

I love film, but lately i have been second guessing a lot if buying or not film related stuff. For how much more time will you be able to develop E6? C41? Black and white developing seems to be able to do with lots of stuff so its not a problem, not that much.

Pic related, i want to buy a 28mm for my spotmatic... but, will it see any photos before film really dies?
>>
I wanted an Olympus 200mm f/4 or f/5 this week. Good thing I can use these lenses on my Canon EOS system if I want. Instead, I bought a car.
>>
instant film is the future
I recently got to try it, it's so much fun for you and everyone around you.

Having said that, I have been debating whether to buy a film rangefinder or an x-pro2. Though if I get a fuji I can just use their instax printer and have the best of both worlds, right?
>>
>buy mirrorless FF digital for convenience
>buy adapter to use all your current film camera lenses with it

Probably some wider FD lenses and some more ektar for my a-1

I've got an mju-2 in the mail though

Film has been dead for the past 10 years. Instead of thinking about film dying, think of using as much film while you still can. Imagine if you heard Kodachrome was dying; would you shoot as much before it died or would you move on to something else?

I'm selling all my film gear except for the Nikon F3 (I have two more SLRs and some compacts).

Hopefully I'll buy dark room supplies, film, glass and weed with the money.
>>
Bulk roll of probably Rollei RPX400, a darkbag and some tools. I just want to start deving myself, still lack a few pieces.

I'm acually thinking of selling a few cameras and lenses I don't really use.

Some sort of wide lens for my Hasselblad. All I have right now is the 4/120 and it's pretty restrictive, especially for the kinds of photography I'd like to do with this camera.

Fuck, man.

I knew Kodachrome was on its way out and I never got around to shooting any. I still feel pretty fucking bad about that. I try to tell myself that it was just a meme film and my snapshits wouldn't have been any better with it, but it still stings pretty bad.

I don't think they're doable with Hassy, and it's way too wide anyway. I was thinking 50mm maybe, something along the lines of a 27-35mm on 135. (I know 6x6 and 135 can't really be directly compared, but you get the point.)

As an avid film shooter and someone who shot Kodachrome before it died...this is very true. Take any well-regarded film and apply nice light and it looks fantastic. Add dated content for dat nostalgic factor and you have an instant winner.

fuuck. whats with /p/ reading my mind. yesterday i was eyeing one of those motherfuckers. they look weird as fuck, like a 90s camcorder, also zoom, also 25mm, also on body flash. but, searched for pics and i didnt like anything it produced, so not buying one.
>>
>>2849133
I know a guy who shoots a Samurai quite a lot, seen some of his scans and it seems pretty good. It's a pretty weird and clumsy looking camera though, and I've heard of them breaking easily.

Personally I'm using an Agat 18K and Konica AA-35. Just finishing up a second roll on the AA-35, then I'm going to get them developed. They're a lot of fun.
>>
>>2849122
'Cause I wanted an old fancy-ass interchangeable rangefinder that wasn't a Canon or a Leica that wouldn't break my bank.
>>
>>2849284
>did I make a mistake
Yeah, probably. Without knowing anything about you, you probably have some pretty high expectations that a camera like that won't be meeting.
>>
>>2849284
It looks like a piece of shit and will more than likely give terrible results and be very uncomfortable to shoot with. Well done
>>
>>2849285
My expectations are that it'll shoot pictures and hopefully it won't be too bad.
>>
All my Leica gear is listed on ebay right now, I got tired of pretending I like rangefinders.

With the money I'll probably get a 28mm f/2.8 AI-s to round out my manual focus Nikon kit and then buy a whole bunch of black and white papers since I'm running low, and then I'll have a bunch of money left over.

Or I could finally get myself a Hasselblad.
>>
>>2849294
You just described a cell phone. Clearly you have hopes for the camera. I really genuinely hope you're happy with it, but only you will know.
>>
>>2849302
I'll report back once it's here.
>>
>>2844835
>I knew Kodachrome was on its way out and I never got around to shooting any.

I shot a lot of Kodachrome back in the last years of the pre-digital era but that was before I knew anything or cared about the art of photography. I just thought slides were a nice format and Kodachrome was the most famous slide film, so its what I used. I wish I'd thought about how soon digital was going to take over.

The answer is yes, it's cool as hell and people can't get enough of it.
If you cut out the middleman (phone) by using a Fuji camera, it'd be much better. Just make sure that your camera has raw developing onboard cause the instax printer notoriously prints like a stop or more too bright.
>>
>>2844295
Yeah, I do that with an Olympus camera and it's amazing. It's cool as hell and people can't get enough of it. It'd be even better with a Fuji. Just remember to adjust the image brightness down before you print.

I have an Agfa Ambi-Silette, which was my first film camera, which is reasonably similar to yours.
Ancient all manual rangefinder with a leaf shutter.
Works great, lense is a little low contrast wide open, but being a simple Tessar design means it works great stopped down.

Well, it's basically a piece of shit and I love it. I broke it once already by winding a bit too hard and fixed it myself, it's relatively simple mechanically. No test shots I'm afraid, I've only developed the test roll out of it (shot 3-4 after that but they're still in the fridge) and that film was so badly expired the pictures came out terrible.

The lens is pretty ok though. So it's like it's a toy camera in that it's fun to shoot, but is able to take decent pictures too, not just "lomoshit".
>>
bought a Yashica Lynx 14e in full working condition only to have it sent for repair two weeks later because the shutter got stuck. Thought it was a fair buy but now it's cost me +200 bucks altogether. Sucks but now I'm stuck with that 1.4 massive glass for a while. Haven't had a roll from it yet.

I love black'n white for my art stuff or whatever and it's taught me to photograph 10 times better but I honestly don't care for color film so much cause that's just extra hassle for something I can do on digital and E6 is practically dead already. I would love to have color around but I'm afraid it's not gonna stand the test of time much longer and will became a niche only alive because digital won't win medium format landscape photography for about a decade.

Meanwhile bw has a future in hipsters, ease of use and pretentious art projects. It's a shame, but lucky side is we will have black and white film with us for a good long second run.

I have high hopes and low expectations for color. Wish color negative didn't die, but shit, I won't use it so who am I to blame.

the Sekor Z 90 3.5 and 180 4.5. I was dumb and bought a bundle with the 90 instead of the 110 because at the time the prices were a little higher for the 110. The 90 is a good lens but the 110 is really in a class of it's own.
>>
I keep buying MF lenses, because i know we will finally have medium format mirrorless cameras in a not so far away future, and all that sweet glass will shine.

I'm currently getting a FED 3 viewfinder alinged for focus. I heard my granpa had an old film camera so I asked to have it and it turned out to be a mint condition FED rangefinder with the Industrar 61 55m f/2.8 lens. Really nice.

Kinda bummed tho cause I just bought a Yashica Lynx 14e for 100$ cause it was in perfect working condition it seemed, but a week later the shutter stuck and I had to send it for repairs so it cost me way too much for my current budget and now I suddenly have a pristine rangefinder for free. Life's like that. Can't complain.

Do it yourself.
The circle window can be turned for vertical alignment, do that first.
Then unscrew the little screw between the Olympics logo and VF window.
Under that is another small screw for horizontal adjustment.
Point it at the moon and focus to infinity.
Just make sure you do the vertical first because it changes the horizontal, but the horizontal adjustment does not change the vertical.

Quick FED protips:
1.Change shutter times ONLY after winding the shutter. (Built that way, can break it otherwise)
2. The Industar 61's got a mean barrel distortion.
3. The viewfinder has no parallax indicator. This is an issue at min focus. This photo (flipped to represent holding the camera normally, horizontally) was framed to have the statue smack in the middle of the frame, the shot composed around the outstretched arms fully fitting in the frame. So tilt your camera up after using the rangefinder patch to focus to frame it correctly.
>>
>>2853790
Yeah, I know, though I'll save your guide for future. I don't have any sufficent tools at hand right now and the circular window was crazy stiff, I couldn't even budge so I just sent it for the local repair man because I already did cosmetic harm to one other camera and this is in pristine condition.
>>
>>2853798
Cheers buddy. Will take into account.

I was suprised the FED doesn't have frame lines at all in the viewfinder. Better use it with a normal lens.

I'll probably pop some HP5+ to it once it's time to order some the next time

Well that particular one is broken, so don't get it.
If you want a 100mm and f/2.8 is fast enough, get a macro, dummy.
Sharper, and focuses as close as you could want, and people are always selling them because they never use them once they get bored of macro/buy a 70-200.
