I wanted to experiment with some simple product photography, but since I didn't want to spend any money on just trying it, I decided to make my own simple lightbox.
The materials I used:
Cardboard box
Old white T-shirt
Piece of A3 paper
Tape
As lights I used some simple Ikea desk lights I had laying around, so the lighting isn't perfect.
Cost: I had everything laying around, so $0.00.

This one is kind of off. I think I should've placed the camera a little lower...

I'll just repost the first 2 for people with slow internet. (and if anyone could delete the 2 fullsized ones, that would be great!)

You can delete them.
Use the check boxes next to Anonymous on the posts, then click the delete button at the bottom right of the page.

>Cost: I had everything laying around, so $0.00.
I'm fucking tired of this. "DYI Your own Plumbus for $2.95 (and $30 dollars worth of stuff I already had and $200 worth of very specific equipment no regular person has in their home)"
>>2840448
While I agree, I also have to chip in with most people have cardboard boxes, sellotape, paper and some form of white cloth laying around.
You'd have to be pretty 3rd world (American), to not have those in your home over the space of a week or a month.
>>2840422
Ah, thanks for the tip. I saw it too late, so I can't delete it anymore. The post is too old. Good to keep in mind though.
>>2840424
I've actually never used this lens, I got it with my Zenit EM, but I've never tried it. This one is "broken" as well, the focus ring doesn't have a stop, so the front element can screw right off.
>>2840448
Sorry for assuming you have cardboard, paper, an old white tshirt, tape and a lamp at home man. I feel sorry for you, you must live in an absolute shithole.
>>2840475
>This one is "broken" as well, the focus ring doesn't have a stop, so the front element can screw right off.
I don't think that means it's broken, I have an Industar 69 myself and I had to remove the focus limiter to make it focus to infinity properly (also allows much closer focusing)
>>2840480
Aha, interesting. Well, the guy I bought it from said the focus limiter was broken. It came with the Zenit EM you see in my other photos though, and I really only bought it for the camera since I had a 35/2, 50/2.8 and 58/2 M42 mount laying around. I wanted a camera to use them with, I bought a Zenit EM because it was cheap (and I have a broken one, so I was familliar with it kinda).

Which parts of this build are inaccessible to you?
Shot this as well, the night before. The white balance and exposure were completely of so I had to spend some time to fix that. But the result was well worth it.

Fag
>>2840404
Use f/16 or focus stacking for such angled shots next time. Also clean your stuff properly before shooting, even mid shooting it can accumulate a few pesky dust particles.
>>2840846
How did you go from clean results like the ones you started with to a picture like that?
>>2840986
Well, in this case I did not have the camera tethered to my PC, and since my camera shows a processed image when I look on the screen to review the image, it looks fine. I'll get a screenshot for you of the before and after for the Gameboy photo when I get to my PC.
>>2840403
i don't know much about photography, i'm quite new, but i like your pics OP
>>2840986
Here's the image I shot before and after processing. I shot that photo the night before the other ones, so I didn't really know how to expose, and since I didn't tether to my PC yet either, I couldn't properly check for any mistakes. Anyway, I guess I did a decent job at fixing it?
>>2841209
Thanks! I'm quite new as well, I've been doing photography for a couple of months and have ~5000 shots taken on my camera.
Try to use black background OP and post the results.
>>2841506
I want to, but I haven't been able to find any black A3 paper in stores in my city. I might order some soon I guess.
>>2840403
Seems to me you may be in violation of Amazon's Patent for shooting pictures with a white background.
>>2841605
Well, I guess it's time to get sued.
>>2841217
before looks better.
>>2841217
second looks way cleaner
>>2842021
No, it really really doesn't.
>>2840448
i didn't have a shirt so i used paper towel instead. works pretty well
>>2842191
Well yeah, but what if you don't own a single semi-translucent white object, and also have no friends or family to borrow from, and can't leave the house to go pick something out of someone's garbage? What THEN huh?
I built a pretty decent 3' lightbox out of a cardboard box and some translucent white nylon from the fabric store a while back. Total cost was about $15 IIRC.
I ended up scrapping it and buying a Lastolite for around $200, though, because I don't have space to store a rigid lightbox and I can collapse and reassemble the Lastolite in seconds.
>>2842021
You need to calibrate your monitor, my dude.
>>2842027
Good to hear, I spent like an hour on removing small scratches and stuff. Not really because I want to do anything with this photo, mainly because I wanted to test the Spot Removal Tool in Lightroom.
>>2842267
I'm not really serious enough about product photography to justify spending that much on a lightbox. Also, I just spent my last ~200 euros on a ticket for Rock am Ring... And payday won't be here until the 26th... I guess I fucked up.
>>2842194
Then you're probably some kid in Africa that lives on the streets in a big city in a poor country.
>>2840411
>if anyone could delete the 2 fullsized ones
Who gives a fuck?
>>2840971
>why did you feel the need to say this?
Because that's what you are.
