hi guys, i fell for the fujifag meme and by accident bought a FUJIFILM X-T10 and a FUJINON 23mm f/1.4

a used NIKON D600 and SIGMA 35mm f/1.4HSM would have been the same price

autism is being shipped straight to my doorstep

is there any consolation for this grievous mistake

I have a D800 and an X100s and consistently get more keepers out of my fuji camera.

I say this as an avowed Nikon fag of many years who fucking loves his D800.

You would have had a hard time shooting street with your D600 anyway.

does the 23mm f/1.4 fit the body well? even on an x1 it looks a little large

It has similar proportions as DSLR.
And what is wrong with being a Fuji fag. Only Sony fags star shit.

oh no its not. its at least 500 usd difference minimum (even if you consider used).
Anyway, OP is a faggot. Go take picture and post them here. We wont be too harsh ;^)

Holy shit, I just googled it, and it is dramatically more expensive.
The Fuji combo, new from B&H, comes to about $2300 AUD, without shipping.
>EDIT: checked an Aussie retailer and the price is much better, $1800 for the fuji combo. Still a rip compared to the used Nikon.
Used D600's can be found in abundance on gumtree for between $900 and a thou, and the 35mm Art secondhand is about $600-$700. That's enough change to almost fund a used 50mm Art as well.
I sure as hell know what combo I'd rather shoot with.

I have a question about the in camera multiple exposure feature of some of the Fujis... because I simply don't think it behaves correctly.
1. I take the first picture with the left half of the lens covered with black paper (correct exposure, complete manual settings)

2. I take the second picture with the right half of the lens covered with black paper (same exposure)

3. The final image comes out underexposed

So it calculates in the "non exposed" (covered by the black paper) parts into the final exposure too and "darkens" them? I don't think that's how multiple exposure should work (or indeed CAN work when using film for example). Any comments on this?
>>
>>2837117
Oh yeah, it's an X100t btw
>>
>>2837118
If it is a built-in mode for multiple exposure I'd assume it is already doing the calculations without you having to cover the lens. Have you tried simply just shooting the frames?
>>
>>2837120
No, that does not have the desired effect I'm looking for. Let's say for example I want to shoot the same object in two different positions on a table using multiple exposure. Doing that without covering the lens results in the camera calculating the both exposures together so that both objects appear transparent. This also happens when shooting film.

However, I want both objects to appear solid (that's why I'm using the black paper). In this case though, the completely black part of the image is factored in by the camera when calculating the two exposures together. This is something that does NOT happen when shooting film: With film you can truly expose one half of the image, then the other without the unexposed parts of the former factoring in to the exposure of the latter. How do other manufacturers handle this?
>>
>>2837130
You can't do that in camera, shoot the frames separately, normal as in non-multi-exposure mode and blend the images in Photoshop. There is a process to do that.
>>
>>2837074
Because that's the point of the thread?
>>2837113
but y?
Surely you know all of the people that have switched and now praise their fudgeys are just covering for their remorse by claiming that a 16mp jpeg workflow is acceptable in a post D800/A7R professional landscape.
>yfw 36MP is last gen sensor tech
>yfw 5K ipads & 8K laptop screens
>yfw delivering Fuji Velvia-emulation thumbnails to clients
>>
>>2837141
This is bait.
>>
>>2837138
Well if there's a "process in photoshop" the camera could do this too, for sure. Software is software. For a camera this old school oriented in design I expect it to behave like a film camera in such super basic aspects as exposure as well. I will contact fuji about this.
>>
>>2837147
And now I am positively sure this is bait also.
Kindly fuck of dear sir and/or madam.
>>
>>2837148
What??? Why would this be bait? I am 100% serious. And Fuji are renowned for listening to their customer base.
>>
>>2837148
And also I goddamn love this camera and this is the only flaw I could find. (Well the Wi-Fi should have a consistency feature so it stays connected, but otherwise..)
>>
>>2837141
Well I don't have clients and just photograph for leisure. I don't need guaranteed results so I can go with a camera that's more fun, easier to carry around, is a bit more inconspicuous and still packed full of neat features.

Not everyone is an aspiring professional (which is ONLY to say: making money with photography on a constant basis), although all the camera magazines and manufacturer propaganda make you believe that should be everyone's target.
>>
>>2837159
+ don't forget it's all about final print size. And I usually print pretty small (11 x 16 inch) because I like it like that. I can go even higher, considering the viewing distance will increase beyond that size.

>>
>>2837147
Honestly I'm not sure why you're even doing that in camera instead of doing it in post. But do you not use the exposure comp or what?
>>
>>2837172
Except that it is one of their best selling cameras years after introduction so people still think it's great. Still one of the smallest and lightest full frame DSLRs. Still taking better pictures than all the new toys.

Your argument is the argument of people who don't take pictures: "look at the specs list". People who look only at specs hate the 6D. People who use cameras and take pictures love the 6D.
>>
>>2837117
Overexpose both pictures by a stop. It's likely overriding your exposure settings and halving your ISO, so that actual multiple exposures don't turn out overexposed (as they would on film).
>>
>>2837175
I wanted to do it in camera because I actually have a shooting scenario where I wanted to use this and I have only one chance to go out there and do it (model/distance to location issue), so I would have to check it there and then.

Exposure comp is the right option but since aperture and shutter speed are basically set for my situation, I'll have to bump the ISO so I have + 2EV and I usually don't want to go to >800 ISO. Well, I'll make an exception I guess.
>>
>>2837182
yeah thank you as well as you:

>>2837175
>>
>>2837141
I'm the guy you replied to.

16MP would be plenty for the stuff I shoot. Hell, the D4 only has 16MP, and the D5 has 20. I shoot professionally, but it's for web, so I really don't need a ton of resolution.

But anyway, the XT2 is almost guaranteed to have the X-Pro2's 24MP sensor, so I'm not losing anything there.

I already have a Fuji, an X100, so I'm not going into this completely blind. I really like the interface and the way the files come out of the camera, both LR-converted RAW and JPEG. I'm also really impressed with the results I've seen from the few pros that are shooting Fuji, and there are even a few motorsports shooters using XT1s and getting excellent results.
>>
Why would anyone even need more than ~40 megapixels? At those levels of detail you could crop to like a fourth of the image and still print it in high-detail on 30-45cm prints.
>>
>>2837205
That's why I need many Megapixels, the more the better. Street photography becomes such an ease with just two Nikon D810s equipped with a fish eye lens each and super fast SD/CF cards. Just place them in a crowded area, both pointing in opposite directions. Equip them with a wireless remote control and sit in the nearest Starbucks, holding the remote shutter pressed while the camera fires away in continuous drive mode. When you're done drinking your coffee, the card is full and you can go home and start cropping the best bits out, applying a random Instagram filter to each decisive moment you found.
>>
>>2837209
Except in the first 2 minutes you place them out they get stolen by a dindu.

The only people that like the 6D are 6D owners who cant admit they fucked up (like you). Otherwise everyone knows its garbage. Internet confirmed.
>>
>>2837227
Well it all depends on the use case. What's wrong with the 6D when you use it for product photography for example? Landscape? Mäcro? Portrait using Natural light?

Well, there's actually no reason not to respond to bait. New people come on here and might actually think for the scenarios I named an Iphone is actually as good as a 6D and those people now know that your post with the Iphone was actually bait and my post explained the reasons why that was so.
>>
>>2837230
Stop taking the bait. 6d files are exquisitely rendered - all actual photographers know this.
Also, nice umlaut.
>>
>>2837239
What broke the god damn camera for me was the 1/160s flash sync speed. With the interests I had at the time it made it a useless brick to me. The AF is also shit, except the center point which is Based af. If the 5D Mark IV has all of them like the center point in the 6D I'm gonna shit bricks and then buy this thing straight away.
>>
>>2837244
My b1 strobe has high speed sync so the 5Diii and 6D can shoot 2000th +
Invest in glass and light, sensors come and go.
>>
>>2837248
Sounds very nice, what do you use for triggering? Pocketwizards?
>>
>>2837227
The 6D is still the defacto astrophotography camera. It is easy to convert for Halpha and Canon also offers a factory converted version as the 6Da.
Specs sheet is one thing, real world applications are another very different thing.
>>
>>2836690
You have not made a mistake, I use a 5d3 as my workhorse and the Sigma 35 Art is one of my most used lens on it, but I have gotten a lot more keepers on my X-T10 w/ 35 f2, I know its not the 23 1.4 but yeah you get my point
>>
HOW MANY FUCKING FUJI THREADS ARE THERE ALREADY REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>2837250
You see, I did not know this and I find it interesting. Although this person has clearly responded to bait, his response was a useful one. I think that's actually the best way to respond to bait: respond to it, but turn it into something good. You kind of make them go "lol you responded to bait", but since your response wasn't an angry one and rather informative, all is good and the baiter just looks like the uninteresting wannabe bully he is.

Don't be afraid
