Thanks. I set up mine for continuous AF with a selective AF point and area AF. Basically it is auto area AF with a selected point for starting focusing. Then keeping AF is set to high in the menu and I just leave it there and never touch it, it maintains a good keeper ratio during tracking.
Also shutter is at 1/2000 minimum for birds in-flight, in my experience 1/1000 still gives unwanted motion blur. The bigger the bird the slower shutter speed you can use.
I suggest looking up tips for setting up tracking AF and set a custom mode for high speed bird shots.

Just like any other point and shoot and bridge camera. Your shots are bland and have no depth, they look like something made with a phone and it's not just from your lack of composition. The crop factor gets you 300mm equivalent framing but it's actually a 135mm lens and the depth of field is mostly cut off by the small sensor. An APS-C sensor and a 50-200mm or 50-300mm lens would give you much better subject separation and can get you a closer framing.
Get a used DSLR with kit lens and kit telezoom lens to start in wildlife if you are interested. A Nikon D3200/D3300 or a Pentax K-50/K-S2 will be a good choice.

Good separation and thinner DoF makes it easier for the camera to nail the focus. That post focus bullshit takes away the high shutter speed and sequence shooting. If the subject stays still for a few seconds it works but wildlife rarely do that. Except owls and dead animals.

honestly, this is coming from someone who is yet an expert but definitely has improved (op here), this is my advice. keep taking photos with whatever you have, but try and get a better angle and look for nice colors and imagery.
upload the photos you take like this to your computer, download Gimp, and then play around with that. It will not only let you alter your photos to make them look better, but it will get you more familiarized with settings that you can change on your camera before you shoot.
I started out taking lame pictures with my iphone 5 and then overtime gradually thought i was getting better and upgraded to a better camera. although yes, in order to get more detailed and prettier photos, a better camera is needed, to have good photos, all you need is a basic camera, hell, even a disposable camera is all you need if you know what you are doing.
I will show a really old photo of mine that I took with an iphone 5 to show whats possible with simply a smart phone camera.

Luckily, I already have GIMP experience, took an introduction course (to photoshop) in college and was prettying up stuff for friends for a while. I try to take good pictures first and prettify them later. Tried with this one.
But I don't get what is apparently so bad about a G7 if a GH4 with almost the exact same sensor is so praised (I'm not talking strictly about /p/ but also about several reviews fgrom different sources).
Also, i mainly took the G7 because it has some decent Video-options and I want to do short reports and interviews and stuff with it. most of the recommendations came from the /vid/ thread tho.

Honestly, one thing you will learn, or maybe not, is that all products are the same. The different version, brands, reviews, are all just distractions to create the illusion that there are vastly different products.
Now obviously some higher end products are better than a flip phone camera, thats a given. But when dealing in the same ball park, it doesn't matter.
I have the Canon EOS Rebel T5i. Do not care about what people think of it, or whether it is a good brand or not. It is what I have, it takes great photos, and the video quality is great too.
If you are interested, I can link you to a short little montage/film I made with it to test it out and the lighting and such.
Any decent camera these days with a video option will be sufficient. It all depends on your awareness of the light around you in my opinion. As well as the subject of course.
I would much rather watch an interesting documentary shot on a flip phone rather than some boring piece of shit in beautiful 4k.

Honestly depends on what you are looking for. Instagram, I believe, can only be uploaded via mobile phone application. There are work arounds, but this is a major flaw in my opinion. Not so much if you shoot strictly with your phone though.
Flickr I assume is good, DeviantArt is something you could also consider. I personally use Tumblr. I know people think its a shit site, but if you use it strictly as a personal website, uploading only original work without sharing others, it becomes a pretty great way to own a free site, designed however you'd like. You can name the URL with your own name, create sleek design, and have multiple tabs for your various types of work.

disappointing on the 70-200 F4 in my personal opinion because it immediately loses a stop and goes to F5.6 (not terrible to any extent but not exciting for $430)
My gut feeling is it might be worth it if you started on a 70-200 F2.8 which the converter stops down to F4, so it becomes like my cheaper F4 except with 40% more reach.

Well I'm on Pentax mount so the closest options are the Sigma 150-500 dust-pump on the cheap side and the D-FA 150-450 on the expensive but weather sealed side.
I had bad experience with Sigma and the build quality only improved on the new 150-600 which is not in K-mount.
I might get the 1.4x TC at some point.

the top half of these feels distracting and unnecessary.
With the ducks, the sky is completely bland and the back brush is not blurred enough to be pretty and not detailed enough to have any interest.
The blur on the front reeds is far more interesting and the reflections in the water.
If I scroll so the image is chopped in half, the ugly distractions are gone.
In the swan pic, the birds are just out of focus and the boring ordinary sky dominates too much of the picture.
If the power lines are supposed to be a statement of intent (pollution + swan or some shit) then they need to take up a larger space and less clear sky above.
If the image isn't about power lines, then get closer to the swans, get them in focus and recompose. Honestly it's too wide to have a connection to any bird even if they were in focus.

The F2.8 zoom monstrosities are so heavy to begin with that I imagine you would appreciate a way to make use of all that heavy lens glass you already bought.
Though I have no idea what the compatibility of the sigma is with the different TCs. Possibility it will drop to 1 autofocus point or be completely incompatible, definitely google someone else's experience before buying.

not to turn this into a gear thread but does anyone have recommendations for equipment for wildlife photography? i already have a sigma 70-200 2.8 and will probably be buying a 5d iii to go with it (id go for the 6d but want good video options as well).
i hear the 2x tele makes pictures super soft, is this true? is it any better than simply cropping in? ill post some pics i took with a rented 1dx, canon 70-200 2.8 and 2x tele when i get home.

Get a 7DII instead, it will give you 1.6x crop factor, faster burst rate, better tracking AF. Also probably get the Canon 2x extender.

It makes it a bit softer, but by no means "super soft" especially after down-sampling a bit for presentation. There are lots of samples out there, you should check them out.
If you've taken photos with a 2x teleconverter then you should already be fully aware of this fact... no?
You should be aware, however, of the capabilities of your AF system. With a 2x tele, you lose 2 stops of light. So an f/2.8 lens becomes an f/5.6, and you should be okay, but if you get an f/4 lens and put a 2x TC on it, it becomes an f/8 and many lower end bodies wont focus with a max aperture of f/8.

With wildlife you will benefit from the crop factor giving you more reach, or in other words getting the same shot on FF you will need bigger and heavier lenses than on crop. Also a crop camera has smaller mirror and shutter mechanism giving you better burst rate.
You could do the same by cropping in on FF but you will be quickly limited by pixel resolution so all in all the best hobby/enthusiast setup for wildlife is an APS-C set.
You can have the bestest FF camera and lens when you can't get close enough or you tire yourself out by carrying the setup through the forest and hills you will lose your shots.
You can see from the thread that there are lots of well executed shots with light setups, APS-C body and cheap, light, variable aperture zoom lens.
