Took a bunch of photos recently, looking to get some feedback.
Tell me what to work on, things to adjust, etc.
I'm a pretty shit editor, so most of these are unedited or just have minor adjustments.
Most of these were either shot on a roll of ektar 100 or BW400cn.

first, I know fuckall about film, so, keep that in mind
>>2810824
kinda meh, there is no single part of the picture that draws the eye
>>2810825
I like it, would have been better if the guy was completely underexposed, but that would be quick to fix in lightroom or something, speaking of which, editing, dont avoid it, because you arent good, keep practicing.
>>2810826
this one is cool, obviously the sky is blown out but sometimes you cant avoid it
>>2810827
soooooo much better than your first pic
>>2810829
even if the colours were perfect and it was amazingly sharp, its just like, why did you take a picture of this
>>2810831
hurts my eyes to look at, but I feel like with some adjustment it could be cool, you should go back if you can
>>2810832
I actually like this, its like those cliche bowl of fruit paintings that dumb art majors in community college all do, but not
I would try do this again, but with a different view out the windshield
>>2810833
too cliche
>>2810834
nothing
>>2810836
weirdly soft
>>2810839
has a similar problem to your first pic, it looks like you cropped too much or something
>>2810854
Thanks really appreciate the feedback.
I'm slowly trying to edit these in lightroom.
>>2810824
boring, at least make it contrasty
>>2810825
better, I just dont like how the water and sky looks in the majority of these photos, probably the film.
>>2810826
Could've framed this a lot better, the wood comes out of a shitty entry of the frame and ends at a shitty end point.
>>2810827
again, shit water and sky, I think it just needs more contrast overall and better focus and exposure. Next time shoot at like f8 if you werent already
>>2810831
I like this one
>>2810836
and this
>>2810839
and this
may just be the film but I just don't like the BnW photos because of either framing or exposure. That's okay though, just keep taking photos

All of these photos are not edited. This is how they looked right as i took the photo. I started photography a month ago, so if you have tips i would like it if you would share them with me.
>>2810886
My advice is to stop thinking that not processing your photos somehow makes your photography superior or more pure or whatever. Those scenes do not look like they did when you took the photo, no photo matches the scene because that's not how cameras work. And more importantly, it doesn't matter what the scene looked like, it matters what you want the photo to look like and processing is an important aspect of producing the result that you want.
Even if you do not make the processing decisions yourself, processing is still being done. The camera is interpreting the lighting and recording the data a certain way, and then your computer is reading that data and building a jpg file from it. Or if you want to talk about film, then the film is recording the light in a certain way and your developing and printing/scanning of the film is then reading that data and building a photo from it in a certain way. There is processing being done no matter whether you choose to handle it yourself or not, so you may as well handle it yourself so that you can produce the photo you want rather than the photo your camera decided you might want.
I don't have much to say about the photos themselves, they're not very good but that's perfectly alright and you just need to keep at it for longer. Like with anything else you just have to keep practicing and you'll improve, you're not doing anything wrong.
Also, resize your photos to somewhere between 1000 to 2000 or so pixels on the long edge, we don't need to see the full resolution.

I got a lot off okay campiss shots this last week, but they are sort of uninteresting
wondering if anyone would even be able to say much about them
>>2810888
Thanks ill keep all your advice in mind and i simply didnt process the photos because i dont have a software right now.
>>2810824
the grain is pointless and needs to go
the composition is sort of nice, but the rocks are far to underexposed and creates a void
the horizon is slanted
overall the landscape is a little uninterested but likely that can't be helped
>>2810825
the silhouette is kind of nice but again with the grain and the dark rock
>>2810827
this is much better than the very first image you posted
I recognize that it is the same place as well
the lack of the stupid underexposed rock gave space for some interesting detail like this path
the overall composition on all of theses are pretty good
>>2810829
the sky looks a little unnatural, but that could just be me
very pointless image just as another person said
>>2810831
really wish these reds were popping a little more
I'm also curious about the current state of the contrast here; it seems really flat
I like this, but the horizon is slanted
>>2810832
the banana makes it a little kitsch but it's all in good fun and the colors are nice and what not
it's a little boring, but I can imagine this working well in a set for a narrative or something
>>2810833
I think there is a little too much empty space along the bottom third
if the composition was honed I think this would be functional for whatever purpose like an ad or something
>>2810834
these type of rudimentary compositions are always good practice; i do it all the time
I like the photo and think it serves its purpose well
we know it's simple, but that's okay
>>2810836
hmm this has many problems no offense
the lighting is really annoying, that's the first thing that gets my attention
just the line of the light itself bugs me
the depth of field feels funky for this situation, the nose and teeth should be in focus but they aren't
as for shooting the photo itself I think you got the wrong angle
more structure of the dog would make the photo more powerful
>>2810839
It's pretty good, but the top left elements of the composition are way to dominant
my eyes feel obstructed
I like the idea that it is there, but it's really heavy
>>2810882
this composition is terrible
the deep blue colors are nice
>>2810884
it's too subjectless and the depth of field is too gimmicky
>>2810885
It's underexposed clearly
the dutch angle is kind of interesting, but at the same time I'm leaning towards that it's more pointless and distracting
the composition has little balance
the rocks and the water definitely should be a part of the photo, but they are too dominant. I think I said this about one of your other pics too.
I like the subject, do you have any others taken here?
I think this photo in particular pretty shit honestly, but it's a good photo op spot
>>2810905
thanks for the input, I agree with most of what you said. Which I think is a good thing
Once again, these are pretty much all unedited. So the grain and underexposed areas haven't really been corrected. Thanks for pointing it out though, I will go though and edit these later.
Colors haven't been adjusted, and the film I was using seems to have a really weird tint to it. All of the skies turned out like that. I will also be fixing that.
>>2810913
glad I could help
since you seem to be more aware of the color and lighting maybe think about what I said about the composition
>>2810834

Composition has always been my biggest struggle.
For just eyeballing the exposure I think I did ok despite the few over/under exposed areas. which can easily be fixed in post.
>>2810918
the color here is all fucked up
>>2810920
Practicing to the basics like the pic I posted will help
it's easy enough to check the corners and sides, but that doesn't mean the balance and form will be good
like for anything one can't practice fundamentals too much

damn it there are two critique threads
I don't know why but almost all your photos feel scripted. It is not a nice feel. It is like you went out there and you made photos not because you wanted to capture a view that you really liked but you've tried to make a photo that is good on a technique level.
