>A thread for sharing great experiences you've had because you are a photographer, that you would not have had otherwise.
Personally, I've been to more cities, and seen more sights along the way, than I EVER would have without the job. I'm grateful every day for the trips I get to take, and the things I would never have seen otherwise.
I traveled before I considered myself a photographer. Photography came first as a way to express the amazingness there.
But then again, it's not my job.
>>2724539
Doesn't have to be a job! Just thinks you did with a camera that you wouldn't have done without one! A side trip to take a photo, exploring down a dark alley you would have otherwise ignored, and happened to find a $20 bill! Just ways that photography has positively changed your life from what it would have been.
And share photos!

OP its clear youre not from this board or even this site. You talk like a faggot blogger or something. Do your own shit and stop harvesting stuff from other people.
Fuck off.
>>2724542
Faggot, yes. Blogger from another site harvesting stuff from other people, no.
Just thought /p/ could use some positivity not related to gear.
>Fuck off

>faggot
you got that hot babe, youre no faggot at all.
but your positivity sounds forced, maybe youre mildly depressed. better post in the useful threads, than create new ones that reek of fake enthusiasm.
>>2724553
All positivity on /p/ sounds forced, because it's a cesspool.
>>2724553
You know my motto. Be the change you wish to see. I'd rather force positivity than give in to hate. That leads to the Dark Side.

I got paid to spend 2 months living & shooting on a fairly remote island, which was pretty cool. Even got to stay in some nice digs for some of it.

I think the coolest thing I've done so far was get invited to a carpenter's shop. I was wondering around some buildings that I thought were empty on the main road, but someone noticed me trying to take a picture and came out to talk. He explained how the buildings were hundreds (or something) years old and how he was restoring them to convert them to a museum. I got invited in to shoot photographs of him working and it was awesome. The guy was really nice and I could feel that he loved sharing his craft with me.
And, I'm invited to come back and take better pictures. (I was using a low speed film indoors, and the guy was old enough to understand what that means) - I'm definitely going to take him up on that offer.

While taking this on my Bronica at a local Dam, an older gentleman walking by yelled out "Medium format film!!" so I stopped and turned around, and talked with him for a while. He was a retired Nat Geo shooter (nobody famous) who spent about 20 minutes just chatting about cameras, and film, and adventures he had gone on. He gave me his contact info, and told me to send him an email, and if he had any of his old equipment sitting around, he would send it to me. He never replied though.
He spends most days wandering around a local town with two cameras just shooting average worthless photos now, and it's sad to see, but he was a super cool guy, and I got to hear a lot of really cool stories from the "glory days"
im a anti-social neckbeard who hardly gets to go out to take pictures because if my shitty tiring job

god damn, i got shivers down my spine just from reading that. thats a patrician anecdote, anon.
Photography brought back the joy in diving.

*Associated Press, not Nat Geo. Got my memories mixed up. Gary Gardiner.
Anyways, also get to do a ton of stuff with music. I've sat in the office of (and shaken hands with) the president of almost every major record label in the country, while visiting with artists, and been back stage during more concerts than I can remember.

I don't want to bother you OP, but I have to say people like you, people that force positivism are usually the darkest ones, we are not living in a Lucas movie. People that need to appear happy and friendly are usually those I start to truly hate after a few weeks, those who need to change friends every 3/4 months.
Maybe that's not your cause but don't think that act in a positive way will save you from the hell we're all living.
Have a nice day
>>2724795
Or you could post a photo, along with a small anecdote.
>>2724795
>positivism
...is a kind of philosophy of science. You mean optimism.
photography takes you to new york or a different career. but usually both.
ill just leave this here

I think you're cool, OP
I don't have any photos of this (they're all shit) but when I started out, I made it my mission to get to the top of as many buildings of my university as possible.
Finding hidden/unexplored areas is the shit.
>>2724542
All this because someone wants to share some experiences in a thread? Fight your nature for a second and stop being a dickhead.
>>2725150
well he sounded suspicious. i dont like data hoarders. i still think op is overcompensating. none of that is, of course, any of your fucking bussiness.

That looks nice and warm.
I miss sleeping in a bed myself.
