Hey! Want to buy ring flash for macro photo, but is it possible to use it normal way for shooting portraits or using in light setups? It has light source, why not?

Most cheap macro lights aren't useful for portraits because they don't put out nearly enough light. Ring lights for portraiture are very very bright, and the cheap ones cost around $500.
Yeah those are useless for anything other than macro. The ring flashes used for portraits are a different thing entirely.

Whats about YN-14EX? Looks powerfull enought to shoot at distances.
Can attach a softbox to it and use like regular flash?

It supposed to be, but the guide number is 45. Powerfull enough ( against 58 from standart flash) to provide some light to softbox of walls. I think :3
Still waiting for it, will do some experiments later. I just want to get another light sourse i can use with transmitters as free bonus exept doing macro shots.
