Lowepro Streetline looks like a Peak Design clone, and it's cheaper.
I messed around with the Peak Design bag the other day, and it's actually pretty cool, and different from any other bag I've seen. The material is really thin and stiff, and that means the whole bag is really slim from the outside. It looks like a mirrorless bag, but you open it up and there's room for a DSLR.
I didn't really think it seemed like it'd be great to use, though. The ergonomics and organization were pretty much the same as any old Lowe or Tamrac bag or whatever, and the flap seems like it'd be a pain to work with because the heavy metal clasp makes it want to fall down all the time. It's probably the coolest bag out there right now for a casual urban shooter, sort of the men's equivalent of a Jill-E bag or whatever, but can't compete with Think Tank for serious use.
I have the lowepro pro runner aw 450. Very big and heavy bag. Not the best for the all day caring around. But for shootings or if you going to one spot you can carry a lots of fucking stuff in them. All my gear + laptop and tablet fits in there. Really good build quality this lowepro bags but not the cheapest

>everyday messenger bag
Mine's sitting at my feet. Pretty great bag. A little "stiff" but hopefully it will relax with use.
Any bag is a camera bag if you put a camera inside of it.
Bunningham Hadley Small, been through lots of bags but this is definitely my favourite so far.
That nigga is going to drop one of those lenses.
>>2787366
They're actually on a clip thingy that Peak makes.
Timbuk2 Snoop Small.
Fits dslr with one lens fixed + two extras, 13" laptop + power cable.
>Waterproof
>Can remove divider insert if you like.
>Looks boring & small enough not to be a camera or laptop bag.

Pelican 1510 for most use - Fstopgear Ando 13 for fun personal stuff.
>>2787431
I use a Pelican 1510 for my job, it is a beast of a case. It's full of tools (normal and specialized) and other equipment, over 30kg worth and I regularly take it into heavy industrial environment.
That thing can take a beating from both the inside and outside.
This thing guy I found off Amazon. Very small but it holds my D5500 with 50mm attached, Tamron 70-300, caps, charger, polarizer in case, and lens wipe. It's the perfect size for that stuff and easy to swing around for lens swapping. But the small size means I can't always take my shotgun mic, kit lens, or smart extension tubes. I bought this bag when I only had the body, kit lens, and Tamron. Thinking of getting an insert for my messenger bag to allow me to carry more at once. Not my personal pic, pulled from Amazon.
Man what is an affordable model/bag that I could place a disassembled 4x5 in?
>>2787484
I'd suggest a Pelican case with custom cut sponge inserts.
>>2787496
Is a Pelican case comfortable to carry on my back, or on a hike?
>>2787501
No. But neither is a 4x5. You carry it in hand or by a harness if such a thing exists.
Just bring your DSLR for those Ansel Adams trips and leave the 4x5 for places accessible by car.
>>2787503
The issue is that I don't have a car and I'm not one of those posh fuckers who can afford uber. I shoot x-ray to make the 4x5 affordable. It would be nice to be able to strap the thing to my back and bike to a friend's house, or into a ntnl park
If your gear is 'basic', this one might fit and it's perfect about everything.
Planing another backpack because fucking 80-200 AF-S and D810 huge as fuck...
>>2787532
>don't have a car
Get a job doofus, then buy a used station wagon or estate or whatever you call them mom's cars where you live. It should be cheap and get your gear anywhere. /o/ will help.
Face it, a 4x5 is not the kind of camera you can backpack on your bike.
>>2787537
>get a job
I have a job that pays above minimum wage, and live in my own apartment, thanks. Cars are unaffordable for me, nonetheless. Not every person<30 has landed a 60k annual salary job and can just buy motor vehicles frivolously. I live in a desirable big city where owning a car would be completely out of the question monetarily.
>>2787560
Then stop fucking complaining.
>>2787424
Gross.
>>2787581
I'm not complaining, I'm trying to solicit a realistic recommendation. Ansel Adams must have managed it a certain way, and I refuse to believe that there are absolutely no bags out there that would facilitate carrying a disassembled 4x5. I asked for advice, and your response was "You're asking for something that doesn't exist, get a job." If you don't have an answer, don't fucking say anything, instead of trying to smugly dismiss me.
What is wrong with a backpack? I just throw 2 lenses where the cup holders are and I can carry lunch with me.

Thinking of getting one too, but can it be use as a causal carrying bag?
A gymsack with a cheap insert, paid 10EUR for both and it works like a charm. I use this one for work and everyday carry.
I got a Jack Wolfskin ACS Photo Pack Pro for smaller tours and a Fjällräven Kajka 75 with the same insert as before for bigger tours. My large format camera has it's own carrying handle.
I don't get how you guys pay hundredths and hundredths of dollars for an ugly bag that screams camera gear from a mile away. But maybe I'm just too poor to understand or my neighborhood is too ghetto for me to not care.

roadrunner americano. spendy, but cheaper than a car.
I had some hard time to find a small backpack that fits a 70-200 that must not be mounted on camera.
Finally I came across the Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW, yes, a dumb name for a good backpack which is about 120 bucks. With my configuration of the partitions it fits 1 camera with a mounted standard lens, 2 additional standard lenses, 1 telephoto lens, 1 flash and other accessory, 1 tripod can be attached on the outside.
The backpack opens from the back, still practical since with its waistbelt you can bring the backpack forward and access your stuff as it would be stored in a vendor's tray.
There are the sizes 10,15, 20 liter, I suppose 20L are too large to still be stable enough for the vendor's tray access.
Pic is related, I just pulled some from the internet. Feel free to ask if you want to know more.

What do you mean by disassembled, like a view camera torn apart, or a field camera with the lens out?
I use a field camera and just put it in my backpack, wrapped in a towel that also doubles as focusing cloth.
What I know people do with view cameras is to use pelican cases or similar, with sponge cutouts like an anon suggested, and then just put the whole thing in a large enough backpack.
It should be no trouble to hike or bike with a 4x5.

Pros:
Airtight.
Waterproof.
Room enough for a 70-300 lens standing upright with the hood folded back. + a mirrorless with another lens attached to it.
Cons:
Expensive in north America. It's priced okay if you're European.
I don't think it will fit large DSLRs + many lenses very well. It might, but then there won't be room for many other lenses.

Obviously you're not just paying for materials; you're paying for design, prestige, warranty/support, name, etc. It's the first camera bag that I've owned which I haven't immediately found at least one annoying design flaw with, so if it lasts for a long time I'm happy with the investment. My previous daily bag was a Think Tank which was nearly as expensive but I was far less happy with, so I have no remorse in spending a bit more to get something I'm actually happy with.
Funny you mention Pelican, because I was far less happy to pay the crazy expensive asking price for mine considering it's just injection molded plastic.

Yes it is but not simply any kind of plastic. That shit can withstand a lot of abuse, doesn't shatter in freezing cold, doesn't deform in under direct sunlight, keeps your stuff cool in hot climate, the mold is very precise, waterproof design and every part of it is designed to last. Not your everyday consumer fashion accessory but an actual tool you can rely on anywhere, any time.
I drag mine through all kinds of nasty industrial places, right next to glowing hot iron furnaces, flying white hot metal sparks and it's still holding together. A few scuffs here and there but keeps my delicate equipment safe.
