That second silver nub is preventing me from mounting the DSLR.
Do I need to return the mount and get another?

The nub should retract with pressure. Does it not?
>>2782375
Not far enough. I just used a screwdriver to rip the top piece off and take the nub out.

That's what she said.

That tripod is probably meant for a video camera, they use that second nub so they don't rotate themselves loose during pans and stuff.

Godamnit, was going to call that. That thread was comedy platinum though.

does someone have a screencap of that thread that they could post?
also OP, I've had some tripod plates where that pin is held in with a screw on the other side of the plate, and you can just undo that and take it out. idk if yours is like that though. If you can do so though, it won't hurt anything.

Nobody expects the vanish pin position.

It's a reference to an old thread with a similar question, where someone made a joke.
The pin in the tripod plate vanishes when it's depressed into the plate.
So you can then make reference to the Monty Python skit "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition"
"Nobody expects the Vanish Pin Position" etc.

It appears that your tripod is a plastic piece of fucking garbage, so yes you do need to return it.
