I posted this in a gear thread but got no replies.

I "upgraded" from a X100 to a X100T and was pretty disappointed with the blacks "clipping". I noticed that it loses a lot of detail in the dark parts of the photograph.
Why would this happen? Is that the dynamic range?

Pic related is from the X100T

Well your shot is under exposed, which is probably part of it. Are you shooting raw?

Here's one from the X100. It's a much darker shot and has less clipping!
I read somewhere that the X100 has a Bayer sensor and not the X-trans. WIll this affect the DR?

Here's another clip-filled X100T shot.

Maybe it could've been in the settings?

No, it won't. More likely, you have your settings configured in a way that compresses shadows.

Also, what program are you using to process, if you aren't shooting JPEG?
>>
Change your settings in camera. There's no software attached to your exif, so use a proper raw editor for Fuji and you'll retain more.

This is likely 100% your settings though. Find a profile you like and save it to your custom settings in Q.

I only take JPEGs straight from the camera.

>>2781153
Any particular settings I should look for? I left them all at default as far as I know. Maybe I should have set to EV +1?

Shadows/Highlights.
I've only used other Fuji X cameras, but from what I have seen of the X100 s/t. The menu's are relatively the same.
>>
>>2781155
Go into your custom settings and look at your image characteristics. You can adjust shadows and highlights to be + or - 2 which makes them brighter or darker.
>>
>>2781155
have you considered shooting .raw? photoshop offers at minimum ± 3 stops of correction

http://www.fujix-forum.com/threads/x100s-clipping-blacks-in-jpeg.8658/

>So... in summation: The solution to this issue is by setting the camera to shoot sRGB, not AdobeRGB. It is apparent that the AdobeRGB menu option is just profiling the images as AdobeRGB and not actually saving the color values in the AdobeRGB space.

Try that, anon
