What is your opinion on the nikon d3300? Excited for mine coming in a couple days.

And that's why we have the gear thread

Been using mine since august, my first non-phone camera. I really think its fantastic, I used it to photograph my cousins wedding, and the photos (surprisingly) came out really well.Really glad about the purchase.
>>
>>2780281
It's a great little camera, perfect for a first timer but it'll last you a while as well. Good lens selection
>>
>>2780281
Nice camera. It's main disadvantages are that you are pretty much locked into using the new, expensive G Nikkor lenses if you want auto focusing, and you will be menu diving a lot to change settings.
>>
>>2780375
If I wanted to use my friends eos lenses. I guess I could get a flat adapter.
>>
>>2780378
You can't use EOS lenses on Nikon.
>>
I bought a 3200 as my first DSLR and it was a nice camera to learn on. I quickly realized it's limitations though and moved to a new camera. I'm assuming something similar may happen with you and a 3300.

I bought my D3200 around 6 months back (just the body, no kitlens). Really like it so far. Made these photo's with it last weekend >>2780108

bretty gud entry level camera
>>
It is my first dslr, it is pretty good I think for what I am doing, and light enough to take hiking and stuff. It is entry level, but good entry level

Personally I don't think it's that big of a disadvantage anymore. Back when the D40 came out without an AF motor, it was annoying because lots of people buying them already had D-series lenses from film SLRs, and the AF-S/G lens lineup was pretty weak. Nowadays though, there are lots of affordable options that will work, and most D3300 buyers will probably upgrade bodies before getting into fancy glass anyway.

By the way, OP, grab the 35mm 1.8 DX if you come across one, it's a great lens and perfect for the 3300.

nice photos m9

What kind of non-Nikon lenses can you use with the D3300 (assuming one also got the proper adapter)?
>>
>>2781443
Almost anything that is a nikon mount, or the mount of the adapter, or you want oitofocus?
>>
i got mine a couple months ago, i really like it. i'm still a beginner but it does everything i want it to.
>>
I've had mine for almost a year now, D3200, I enjoy it, it has taught me so much about photography, but I'm definitely ready to move on. There is so much noise even at 1600 ISO, definitely not a low light camera, To get anything quality I stick to bright shots
>>
>>2780707
Actually you can, but you won't be able to focus to infinity.
>>
I don't think a d3300 is a good buy. A d7000 would be a lot better.
>>
>>2781754
Or use AF.
>>
>>2781025
I like these photos. Especially the cabin in one of the pics.
>>
If you're looking for a new budget dslr this is the best bang for the bucks you'll get. Shutter speed, weather sealing, slightly worse ISO performance and lower burst rate apart it's almost as good as the D7200 (which is a >1000$ camera). Great processor, great image quality, good battery life, good autofocus, handles fast and feels great even if you have big hands. Plus no low pass filter.

Honestly I don't know what Canon and Sony think they are doing. Canon has been selling the same refurbished crap (1200d and 100d) for ages, cameras that for almost the same price as the nikon d3300 offer way less performance (the 1200D doesn't even have a mic input port, which is great if you're a beginner and want to see if videography is your thing or you just want to record videos that don't sound like you shot them with a mobile phone).

Sony is still putting EVFs on every freaking camera, and that in addition to the fact that alpha mount is getting killed turns the a58 into a must not buy.

The way I see it having an awesome entry level body is the best investment. Those buyers will get lenses for your mount and keep upgrading inside your brand because they will master your controls, OS and won't want to waste the hundreds, maybe thousands of shekels they invested in equipment.

Or you can be a free spirit and get yourself a pentax k50, or wait for canon to release their eos1300d this summer. Otherwise if you don't buy a d3300 as your first dslr you should kill yourself.

It has a nice backround blur to it. Is that a car or a boat? I have not gotten my camera yet but thought it would be cool to show this picture of downtown. It was the first picture I took with my slr.
>>
>>2784952
It's a car with pop-up headlights.

What do you think will came out? Just like your crappy phone camera?

Nikon (NEEKON) vs Canon (KAnhuhn) thread now

What ISO? That is too much grains there with that lighting.
>>

Too bad. It's SONY time.
>>
I had it for a month. It's a great camera, I quickly outgrew it's simplicity though. I upgraded to a 5300 and it's the perfect camera for me.

i purchased a d3300 as my first camera a few months ago. i think it's a fine camera, takes great pictures, i just wish it had an AF motor and more points to focus on. otherwise, it suits my needs just fine for now.

here are some pix i've taken, mostly with 35/1.8 lens:

Crazy isn't it?
But you can help get rid of light pollution by reducing your used bandwidth, did you know that? Just resize your picture to our rules and you'll soon be able to spot some more stars from your house.
>>
I got a D3200 and love it but do notice it's limitation.
>>
literally could buy it at fred meyers
>>
>>2791420
just a tip, after about 8 seconds is when stars begin to visible trail
>>
>>2791420
What constellation is that?
>>
>>2793785
if you're giving a tip, give the right fucking tip:
trailing happens at about 600/effective focal length seconds.
>>
>>2788750
Yeah you should do that yourself bro. His image is okay according to the sticky.
>>
>>2793812
>gear topic not in gear thread
>>
>>2793814
Tell that to OP, not the guy actually uploading images.
>>
>>2793786
it was part of the big bear !
>>
>>2793785
Depends entirely on the focal length, and where you point your lens in the sky. Stars at the polls will seem to move more slowly than stars furthers from them, and wide focal lengths allow for longer exposure times before trailing becomes apparent.
