why even bother doing it when you aren't showing off the sky color anyway?
for all we know it's still white/blown out
Your HDR example is pretty flat.. Shouldn't hdr be high contrast?
>>2778152
>sky color
i think it was overcast, but either way, i didnt want a happy, colorful image.
Well in that case i think you hit a home run.

>HDR in colour
good or bad hdr ?

the rule of thumb is that if you can tell immediately that it's HDR, it's bad HDR.

The RX-78 looks fine, almost hand drawn, but the sky is a tad too contrast-y.
6/10, would probably like on deviantArt.

Sowhat edgelord
>>2779554
Leave that poor sky alone
>>2779554
Bad. Anytime you can see halo-ing on the edges, it's bad.
i find haitch-dee-are to be pretty good for snow. except i still get damned jedi halos around the trees and junk. this was just a test shot. i never took a real one

I actually like it. Barely even noticed the halos
>>2779554
It's fine, given the subject matter.
>>2780376
what is up with the haloing?
I grew up combining different exposures in gimp and whatever prog before that, when i finally got Ps I was extremely disappointed with the HDR, I thought it was going to make things faster except it always looks like shit
>>2780549
teach me how you do it in GIMP pls
>>2778148
>i just got into hdr
get out, immediately
>>2778154
Not overcast, there's a shadow.
Don't tell someone what a properly executed HDR looks like when you don't even post a properly executed one. That image could have been done in one exposure easily. It even just looks like you did a BW conversion straight out of the camera
>>2780384
This is terrible too. Why do you need HDR for this? There's not a massive dynamic range in this photo. I can promise you this is doable with one exposure
>>2778148
Just some advice. Don't fall for the HDR meme. 90% of the time, it's useless, especially how you're using it here. HDR should be used to get shadows and highlights properly exposed, not to make the image look like a shit show. I'm not saying to stop doing HDR, because you're new obviously, just play around. But look into doing real HDR, thats much more useful. Try this as a starting point
I haven't watched this video. But it looks like its a good source of info, and some good examples here
